Hellhunters Neo - Chapter 17 Demon Razor Gate
Edin slowly walked down into the darkness that was the sewers. The stench was worst then your usual sewers. Aside from the waste of the humans above but the stench of blood and rot filled the air. Edin gagged at the smell as the stench was as if it was choking him. He walked slowly till he felt something squish against the sole of his boots. His foot quickly retracted as he held out his hand. A glowing blue orb of lightning lifted up causing light to slowly fill the space. The area was dead rotten bodies of humans and demons. To Edin the smell and look of decomposition these bodies had been there longer than just two days. Edin was frozen stiff as he came to realize something. This attack was far more meditated then a simple raid. The demons had inside helped to enter through the sewers. This took someone with extensive knowledge of the city. That meant that Saku’s idea of Ti being a traitor might be correct.
While Edin was lost in thought over the dead and how long the demons were laying in wait. A large slimy tentacle rose up from the water slowly. It managed to slip around his ankle before dragging him forcibly into the waters of the sewer. Edin tightly closed his eyes as he was yanked into the water causing him to yelp out what little air he had. He sped along the water just deep enough to keep him from being able to muster out a gasp of air. As he started to slow down he was already struggling with air. He managed a gasp as the tentacle jerked him from the water. His body flung up towards the ceiling of the sewer. He hit hard against the stone before falling onto the walkway. He coughed up the bit of water that had managed its way into his lungs during all of that. He started to slowly get up when fear shook down his body. He rolled forwards as a large tentacle slammed into the brick just behind him. He rolled to his feet managing to lift the diamond sword in an attempt to block. the tentacle shoved the sword against his chest before launching him a good 20 yards causing him to fall on his shoulder before bouncing another 2 or 3 yards to a stop. Blood dripped from his mouth as he coughed some up. He struggled to his feet as he could feel his left shoulder out of place. The little glowing orb finally caught up exposing what it was beating him senseless.
Green scales followed the tentacle down to what looked like small little glimmers of light. As the orb got closer it could be seen at least 4 rows of dagger-like teeth. The red inside of the mouth dripped with oozing saliva. Clothes jewelry weapons and even body parts, all trapped inside these rows of teeth. Instantly Edin knew what he was looking at. These were called Demon Razor Gates, or rather specialized creatures who worked as a mobile teleport for armies that wanted do a surprise attack. These creatures normally are easily detected with proper defense systems but this one didn’t make sense. For it to grow to the size it was it had been designed for moving an army. Normally they are about a 10th the size of the one before him. Those could only move a small group of five with ease. This creature could move 100 or more demons at a time with its size. It seemed like it was taunting him as it’s tongue shot out to lick its teeth. It was like it was polishing its teeth for the meal to come.
Edin blinked a few times trying to figure out how to handle such a creature. Another large tentacle lashed out from the water throwing a dead body at Edin who was otherwise lost in thought. He managed to slice the dead body in half. The blood splattered all over him causing him to gag violently. Something about the blood was what caused his stomach to turn the most. The creature stopped moving as its tentacles started sliding along the walls. It looked like it was searching for something as if it lost its interest with Edin. Just as Edin thought about that something clicked in his mind.
Edin was walking alongside a young Saku who looked roughly 7 or 8 years old. “Remember DRG’s are dangerous the older they get. The ones your father keeps are kept small with a minimal supply of food,” said Edin as they stopped at a small pond. Inside was small DRG’s that were roughly the size of rats. These were considered babies that were unable to create gates. “So if I had to fight one at the adult stage how would I handle it.” Said young Saku as he poked a stick into the pond pushing around the DRGs. “They are blind that respond to fresh blood. The best way is to hide your scent with the blood of the dead. Then they lose track but if they find you before you are able to be careful. They may lose you doesn’t mean they are so stupid as to think you will disappear. If they find you like that they will no longer play with you. At that point they will see you as dangerous and attempt to kill you.” said Edin moving the stick away from the DRG. He plucked it up pinching its side to expose its mouth showing the rows of tiny teeth. “even as babies their teeth are very dangerous. If you have to fight one your best bet is this small little sack just at the top of its head. Just burn the skin and stab through the dried scales and it will die instantly.” Edin finished before placing the small worm-like creature into the water.
Edin slowly came back to reality as his memory cleared up making his head hurt. He nearly stumbled into the water causing a rock to fall into the water. With that splash of water, the 4 different tentacles stabbed into the water like spears at the rock. The movement was so quick it was like watching bullets fire out. Edin jerked back avoiding the splash of water before seeing it slowly start to sink into the water. This was his chance he tossed the diamond sword up into the air. As soon as the sword left his hand he forked his fingers firing lightning at the top scale of the DRG. It’s the scale at the top always glowed when it was looking for food. It was how it smelt out for food in the darkness. Before it could submerge the lightning quickly burned the scale above its head causing it to let out a howl. Luckily its mouth was part way under water causing the sound to be muffled. Edin quickly jumped in response grabbing the sword out of the air landing down on the DRG’s head. The sword drove home into its head causing the creature to start flailing about. Edin held on with his one good arm before diving off using a pile of dead bodies as a cushion. The creature slowly shriveled up before floating towards the top of the water. It was now the size of a regular house dog. Edin relaxed only a moment before he realizes his hand was resting on something. It was resting on the cold dead breast of what looked like the torso of a woman. He quickly turned and started vomiting into the water whatever was in his system.
