Hellhunters Neo - Chapter 19 The Storm
Saku looked down at Riku as he slept in his coma. Saku knew that the seals would have an effect on Riku. He did not realize they were doing a lot more than just sealing Saku. These seals had effected Riku’s life as well. Each one held their latent powers at bay and as each one was broken more came to light. For Riku though it was as if those seals had a hold on an entirely different person. Saku noticed this a long time ago back when they were in Sky City.
The city was destroyed and left with those humans who had lost more than just their souls. Saku was sitting in the penthouse of the Central Hall looking down over the city. He had watched the things play out with Riku making him sigh. His hand gently rubbed the side of the glass just on the table beside the chair. He lifted the glass to his lips and drew that dark rich rum into his lips. He let out a soft sigh before speaking.
“Edin… you really shouldn’t have followed me. What would you do if I really had gone off the deep end? You know more than anyone now that my actions have meaning. Look at this city he created that blindly followed his orders. Do you truly want this to be our home too?” said Saku before rising from his chair to find Edin standing in the doorway.
Edin was carrying his diamond sword as he looked at Saku. He looked down at the ground taking a deep breath before responding. “Its a lot more than that Saku. Do you realize your actions will affect more than just you? The people will think this was you… Is that truly the life you want to leave Ire’as? She will be left to think her father is a monster who took the sun. I will stop you even if its the last thing I do.”
Edin rushed across the den of the penthouse with his sword held up. Saku sighed as he knew this was a waste of his time. He slowly dipped his hand into the void of space between the worlds. To Edin, he couldn’t see anything special until that black katana swung up from his side. Saku thought this would be enough to deflect Edin, but the miss only drew Edin closer. Edin swung out at Saku but because he was using the flat side the sword was to slow.
Saku was able to jerk back avoiding the blade completely. His fingers sparking up sending that lightning down the edge of his blade. He swung at Edin causing the tip to form an arc of lightning that shot toward Edin. Edin was able to shift the sword to block the lightning. The arc of lightning disappeared into the diamond sword as it was able to absorb elemental magic. What Edin didn’t realize that the sword could not block the force magic as well. Force magic is using magnetic energy to create either an attraction or deflection style of attack.
In this instance, Saku had created a deflection style of force. So when Edin blocked the attack he was instantly launched backward. His body collided with the wall breaking through his back. Saku slowly walked towards the doorway to see Edin laying on his back. Edin looked up to see Saku holding out his fingertips close together. He barely managed to flip up to his feet as the beam of lightning pierced through the floor where his head was.
Edin glared at Saku only to see a stern glare right back at him. “Take this seriously… Having me beat the hell out of you would be a waste of time. It will not make me have some emotional moment where I right my wrongs. Sorry, this is not some Naruto & Pain anti-climatic bullshit.” said Saku before he swung his blade again.
Edin sighed as he knew it was a wasted plan. however, something needed to be done about this. Edin swung the diamond sword down breaking the lightning arc. As he did this he created a counter push of force magic breaking Saku’s attack. If Edin was a magical genius creating this kind of counter would be nearly impossible. He had not counted the force but completely nullified it by creating the exact amount of force to block his. This level of control would shock most.
For Saku, he already knew the genius his mentor in magic truly was. If it wasn’t for the fact Edin was human Saku would actually be worried. Though even if the facts pointed to Edin being weaker Saku still took this fight seriously. He wanted to give the utmost respect to his mentor and fight him. If two men regardless of their past cannot take a duel serious it was as if slapping the other in the face.
Edin shifted his weight as he brushed his lap a bit. His other hand stabbed the sword into the ground before he moved his hands back. His hands clasped together as if praying for a moment. His energy started to right as heat emanated from his body. After a moment of his energy rising flames shot out from his body. Edin had flames floating around his body as if it were skin tight armor.
“Seriously… did you watch too much anime?” asked Saku before he slowly moved his right foot back getting into a position to dash forwards.
Edin sighed as he lifted his hand before firing out 4 small balls of fire from his fingertips. Saku charged forwards moving like a charging bull towards Edin. As the fireballs came within range it was as if they were sliced apart by the air alone. Edin could see that this was the cause of Saku swinging his sword so fast that even his eyes could not track it. To the naked eye, Saku was simply rushing forwards. Edin dove to avoid the attack seeing the end of his cloak getting sliced up as it came within an inch of his rush. Saku came to a stop after ramming slightly up against a wall. His body slowly turned to look towards Edin.
Edin quickly goes to his feet as he formed a ball of fire within his hand. It slowly grew to the size of a basketball. He stomped his foot forwards before throwing the ball of fire at Saku. As the ball left his hand he quickly followed after it to try and find an opening of an attack. Saku on the other hand already knew this style of attack. Edin was the one who taught him to use a forward spell as a term of creating a pathway. For Saku, he used his railgun for speed but for Edin. He used an explosive style of spell to create block the view of his target.
Saku rushed towards the ball as it slowly moved towards him. As it gets to a certain point he rolled under using his sword to be held up and slash through the ball. The explosion gave him the force he needed to rush at Edin who was shocked by the action. At least that was what Saku saw happening until something was driven into his stomach. it was like a red-hot burning feeling that was emanating inside him. He looked down to see the diamond sword stabbed into his gut. His cockiness caused him to be careless in the most important moment. He jerked back holding the wound with his hand. The blood dripped from his side as he shocked lightning to cauterize the wound. He felt that searing pain driving him to fall back against a wall.
“you forget Saku I taught you the sword. I taught you tactic but I never said you learned everything,” said Edin as he took a breath. He dropped his diamond sword to the ground looking at the person he considered a son.
Saku watched as the sword fell to the ground. He formed a ball of lightning in his palm as Edin got closer. He refused to let this end this way. He had so much more he had to figure out. He bit back the pain as Edin was much closer.
The moment that Edin touched his cheek he flicked the small bullet like ball of lightning. It flew up higher than expected and punctured through the forehead of Edin. The blood splatter was instantly burnt up by the heat but the smell was there. The scent of burning flesh along with the sight of his once prominent mentor dead. Saku felt like he couldn’t breathe with everything happening. He grabbed Edin’s dead body and a nearby chunk of stone. He hurled the stone through the large window allowing the rain to start coming into the penthouse. He lifted his mentor feeling the sharp pain in his gut. He nearly dropped him before throwing him out across to the nearest building. Just as Edin slammed against the roof of the other building someone opened the roof access door.
Riku opened the door to see Edin’s dead body slam against the rooftop. Across in the top floor of the Central Hall stood someone. Riku could clearly see that the person who tossed Edin like a rag doll was none other than Saku. His hand clenched tight as he grew to become angrier as the seconds passed. Riku pointed at the sky for a moment. As the lightning bounced across the sky like a dragon, a thunderous roar of thunder echoed out. It was Riku’s response to Saku’s Lightning storm as if to say that he was there to fight. The normally compliant and peaceful singer showed the rage of a real demon. Saku simply held up a bloody hand before signaling Riku to give him all he could.
