Hellhunters Neo - Chapter 24 The Endless Rage
Desmond racing through the forest avoiding the tree branches and root that appeared. As he got closer to where his men were camped he saw women and children running towards him. He blinked as he realized they were his people. He gave out a whistle which drew their attention to him. One woman ran over holding a child in her arms. The child limp in her arms making him see the blood covering her shirt. The sight caused Desmond to bite back his anger before speaking.
“What is going on? Where are the hunters… Look head south east there is a cart with supplies. No one is to look up in the trees and children are to be blindfolded. Don’t ask me why just do what your told.” he said to the woman before dismissing her seeing she was to shocked to even speak.
The moment the woman started to move the trees rattled from the sound of a roar. This roar was not like a normal demon preparing for a kill or in pain. No this roar was despair inducing, a chilling sound that froze even the greatest hunters to the core. Desmond fought back the fear rushing into the clearing to see his mean not only struggling but some scattered body parts across the ground. Before him was two towering demons whose bodies were like walking rotten corpses.
These were Rage Demons or REDS, are demons who have for all senses of the word lost their minds. Demons are creatures who house the special magic of controlling the elements. Each race has a special ability that allows them to use magic. To fully control magic there is three things needed, A heart to control emotions, a soul to manipulate the life force and a body to invoke the magic. Demon do not have a heart that can withstand a lot of strain. Humans only have the heart and body which limits their ability with magic. Though some have souls a bit stronger then others they are still limited.
When a Demon’s heart is put under a lot of strain due to their level of magic. Those hearts will break creating a void in their bodies. This void is an endless rage that wishes the world to experience its pain. Its said that when a demon is enraged, its forced to endure its greatest fears. The pain is an unending cycle of torment to its mind that only draws it deeper into despair. No one honestly knows what they are thinking but they know the carnage the bring.
Desmond watched as the hunters were fighting to their very best. The creatures didn’t seem to mind their attacks as the hunters where switching between stances to try their very best. Desmond pulled a sword from the bracelet on his wrist as he rushed up. His eye glowed with the demon kanji as he rushed to block one of the RED’s claw. He managed to stop it for a second allowing the hunters to back off. He stumbled back feeling his arms numbed from the force of that attack alone. The other hunters were trying to back away from the second RED but the chance came from it chomping down on the body of one. The scene was horrific to say the least but what made it worse was its rare to see more the one rage demon in an area. This forest was known for its control over these creatures yet now two were attack his people.
DRA has used some type of lure to lead rage demons right to them meaning this was not going to be an easy escape. Desmond looked at his hunters who were already digging their graves in their minds. For hunters killing demons was easy by REDs where a totally different story. These were demons who made even Demon Lords not dare fight on their own. The true apex hunters of the demon world.
“Run south east meet up with the others I will handle these two.” Desmond roared out knowing all to well this was his death. The hunters were about to refuse when they caught their own tongues. While normally hunters would never leave a clan member behind they knew what he was doing. If any of them tried to hold them off it would only be a second. Desmond on the other hand would at least give them a fair chance to escape. His sacrifice was so that they could escape and protect the others because the DRA had to be near by.
The hunters ran with the heads low as guilt was beating them senseless. This was the saddest point for any hunter to have to retreat but more so leaving their chief to die. Once the hunters were gone and the RED’s realized their meal was gone except for one small morsel their roar echoed one again. Desmond clenched down on his small sword getting ready.
Desmond rushed forwards sending a wave of fire from his blade that slashed through the air. His eye glowing with dragon as he swung. He kicked off the ground as hard as he could flipping through the air. He spun himself in the air just enough to block the RED’s razor sharp tail with his sword. The strike sent him flying back into a tree with the sword shattered in his hand. Desmond felt his arm throbbing as blocking that attack seemed to have broken his right arm. He tossed the broken sword aside pulling a shield from his bracelet. He revealed a his eye glowing with demon as he steadied himself. The second RED swung out its arm smashing its palm against Desmond’s shield. The hit bounced off but Desmond instantly spewed blood from his mouth.
The RED grew angry as it slammed its fist into the front of the shield. Desmond braced as best he could but the shield cracking caused him to lose his base. He was launched up into the air to be caught with a second punch that slammed him to the ground. Desmond finally made a sound of pain that echoed through the silent forest. His left arm was broken his legs were bent in different directions. His breathing shallow but he still tried to move. His eye glowing a brighter red as the demon kanji was working over time to push his body to move. Unfortunately it wasn’t enough… As he slowly started to pass out something caused the RED to move its hand away from him. He looked over towards them seeing a man in a black trench coat with long black hair. His hand held a glowing golden orb of chaos. Just as he started to pass out Desmond saw the forefather sword resting by his side. This blade seemed to have appear out of no where.
Desmond woke a few days later with the forefather resting against the wall. Desmond struggled to move realizing his arms and legs where held up and covered in hard bandages. He saw a young man with white hair and green eyes looking at him.
“Welcome to the HellHunters… you have a long road to recovery but… I have a feeling you will make it.”
