Hellhunters Neo - Chapter 29 Soulmates
His body was broken in many places as blood dripped down in arm into snow causing it to hiss. He struggled to move pressing his other shoulder against a wall. He had never expected to have gone this far in a battle. He had thought with his immortality he would be safe but never did he expected to beaten to this point. He looked up at the city of the human world he managed to escape into. The city was busy with cars rushing past and people minding their own buisness. It wasn’t until he heard a small soft voice draw his attention in.
“Oh god you hurt… hold still we need to clean up these wounds.” Said the woman as her blue hair shined in the headlights of a car.
It took him only a moment to realize what was happening as his other arm wrapped its way around her waist. The snow exploded upwards as he shot into the air carrying her. While he should have been focused on not exposing himself. Something told him to save the woman from the car that crashed into the place they had been standing at. That was not even on his mind though, he was more focused how her small frame fit perfectly against his body. Her heart beat was in sync with his making it all the more confusing at the moment. When they landed on the roof of the building his leg gave out causing them to fall down. He quickly rolled making sure she didn’t get crushed under him causing her to fall on top of him.
His eyes slowly began fading in and out as he was loosing consciousness. The last thing he remembered was looking into her crystal blue eyes as they slowly leaned in closer to him.
After a few days…
His eyes slowly opened as he looked up at the ceiling. There were squares of light in the ceiling meaning he was inside a building of some sort. He could hear whispering but his body wasn’t fully responding to his mental commands to move.
“What exactly is he?” ….
“Did you see the amount of blood he had lost?”
“None of the blood tests could find him matching blood and the wounds they were self healing.”
“This is insane… you don’t think the government won’t hunt him down?”
“Why would they do that?”
“What if hes some science experiment that escaped?”
“I mean ever since magic began being apparent in the world”
“Hush….don’t say things like that someone could hear you”
“Hey did his… he’s awake quick call the doctor.” The nurses were talking until they realized he had opened his eyes.
Shortly after a few men and women rushed the room talking to him. They point lights in his eyes and spoke over each other so quick he couldn’t catch it all. Finally he saw the woman with the blue hair standing to the side among the people. His energy quickly rose enough for him to attempt to move his arm.
The strap on his wrist quickly go caught causing him to let off a light growl. They all jumped a little at the sight of his movement but had no time to react. By the time they realized he growled, His hand broke the restraints smacking a doctor away. The man hit the wall causing a crack sound before falling limp against the wall. One of the other doctors rushed over touching his neck before gasping. The group moved further back and watched as he slowly moved to sitting up. Each restraint breaking like as it they were tissues.
He got to his feet before appearing before the man who had hit the wall. Everyone was shocked at his speed and how it didn’t cause a boom or even move the wind around the room. He slowly lowed his fingers to press against his chest before causing a spark of magic to enter the man’s body.
After a short second the man jolted to life gasping for air. before passing out from the pain of what had happened. Luckily he could hear the man’s heart beat and its steady pace. He got up from his kneeling position turning towards the others. His eyes fixed on the woman who he had saved that night. He was about to speak when he realized if he said something wrong it would change this moment. He stood there with his mouth open and his eyes fixed on the woman.
She seemed to have her eyes locked on him before slowly pushing past the others. A few even reached out to stop her but she gently pushed their hands away.
“Regardless of where he comes from…or the power that he holds…. He doesn’t seem to be hostile.” She said slowly walking towards him.
He moved towards her slowly afraid that if he moved to quickly she would freak out. she stopped after a few steps before putting her hand on her hip. “Come on you look human you should at least have the manners to introduce yourself. Much less think so low of me as to freak out from you rushing over.” She said giving him this look that made his heart skip a beat.
He moved quickly shortening the distance between the two by only a few inches. He looked down realizing he was in a odd gown that looked barely suitable to meet people in. His finger snapped as black smoke swirled down his body forming a black cloak and pants.
“Shindow Azul Hara The Demon Lord” He said in his proud tone that had a commanding vibe that caused some of the humans behind him to kneel.
She stepped forwards putting her hand on his bare chest. While she felt warm and a heart beat, he felt the cold of her fingers pressed against his skin. He sent a small spark of magic down towards her hand as a warning as his fear of her touching sent alarms all through his body. The moment the lightning touched her hand she didn’t move but simply accepted the flow of energy into her body. After a second sent the energy back into his body. His mouth formed into a smile feeling her play with his magic as if it was a exchange of greetings.
“Sasryl Methis the human mage scientist.” she said moving her hand from his chest.
He felt that hand remove causing his body to instantly become cold. It was like she took all of his heat away. He was about to reach out and grab her when he saw that look of fear in her eyes. It wasn’t exactly fear but she was having the same strange reaction to their contact as he was. He lowered his hand looking at the others who had came to their senses.
“Shindow these people wish to study a creature of such magical purpose. We know we can’t force you to stay but… we ask that you do and in return we will make this as comforting for you as possible.” Sasryl said stepping back to the others.
Shindow was silent for a moment as he thought it over in his head. He flexed his hand a few times as energy bounced of the walls. They had him in an area that could take a large portion of damage but nothing near strong enough to hold him. He looked at sasryl before the thought came to his mind making him laugh a little. The sound of his laugh was cold to all but sasryl she could feel the kindness that was hidden in that.
“I will allow this under a few conditions. One… you never tell anyone about this not even your governing bodies until I say otherwise. If any of you even think of betraying that I will kill everyone within this compound and all who share their blood. Second… I want to this to be a home more then a cell which means no cameras in here. make it fitting to house a Demon Lord within reason of course. I assume you can’t line the walls with gold. Third I want to have sasryl be present at each of these studies since shes the only one strong enough to stand before me. Lastly I want a human sacrifice once a week.” He said firmly as if these demands were not pliable.
They turned to talk it over for a bit before speaking to sasryl directly. Shindow could have listened in but he felt letting them think they had the upper hand at the moment was okay. Sasryl spoke for a bit before shaking her head at them. They all turned as she stepped forwards once again.
“We can make this place acceptable to a point and as for the cameras we will gladly remove them. The idea of being present for your experiments is not hard but we feel that its better to place someone at your side at all times. Seeing as you trust me I offered up my services under the condition that you respect the fact this is a willing agreement. The government will be left out after we explain to them what must happen for that to happen. Lastly does the sacrifices be human we cannot easily just grab random humans to feed you as such.” She said tapping on the tablet she held in her hands.
days passed as they were finalizing the repairs on the underground home they were preparing for him. She was sitting in her office looking at the man who had taken over her life in more ways then one. First he had caused her to miss her own engagement party in saving her life. Now he had made it impossible for her to have a normal life so much that breaking up with her fiance seemed the only option. This was not the worst of it… No matter what she did through she couldn’t stop thinking about the warmth and the look in his eyes as they stood there so close. It was as if she was looking into the void of magic and it was looking back longing for her to enter that darkness. It was as if she was being called to be wrapped inside his cloak.
She stood at her desk with only one written word followed by the blinking bar of the computer.
SOULMATES?….
