- Chapter 550: Muras' determination
Hearing Allen, Muras stared blankly, while Cecile and the rest of the family were shocked.
(Hm? Why do they look so confused? They didn’t understand what I said?)
Allen had been keeping two big secrets from his family.
[Allen’s secrets]
-He had been reborn in that world, after living 35 years as Yamada Kenichi
-He was fighting the Demon King together with his friends
Even after he graduated, he just said he was going adventuring with his friends.
He kept his identity secret because he wanted to remain as Allen to his family.
But it was easier for his friends to accept his plans and strategies if they knew of him as Kenichi.
He kept his fight with the Demon King secret to not make his family worry.
(It’ll be different once Mash tells them about it after all. I have to act like the eldest son.)
Mash was attending the Academy, and sooner or later would learn about the Demon King.
Maybe he already knew, since the Academy was in an uproar now that it would take more years thanks to Allen’s idea. So before he could say anything, Allen came back to tell his parents.
“I guess fighting the Demon King is really hard. It sounds like a struggle even with Kurena. I guess he’s stronger than the White Dragon?”
(What?)
It took Allen a moment to understand what Rodan had said.
“Wait, did Kurena tell you already then?”
Thanks to his overwhelming Intelligence, he quickly reached that conclusion.
“Yeah, I guess you didn’t say anything to not make us worry or something, but Kurena told Gerda she was getting stronger to defeat the Demon King. I mean, everyone knows since the village got fortified too.”
They all had already known about the Demon King.
(Now that I think about it, they did not make many questions even when Marshall Sigur from Rosenheim called.)
After Rosenheim’s invasion, but before they defeated the White Dragon, Kurena had told her parents Gerda and Mitilda about her adventures, who then told Allen’s parents about it.
“I see, that’s a bit embarrassing. Anyway, that’s what I wanted to tell you, I’ll still come back home whenever I can though.”
He did not have much free time as he worked on defeating the Demon King.
“Is the Demon King really that strong?”
Rodan wanted to know if maybe Kurena had been exaggerating.
“The White Dragon is nothing compared to him.”
After hesitating for a bit, Allen replied honestly. He had gotten too far to keep more secrets, even though he wished his parents could live in peace without worrying.
Muras just listened silently.
“So it’s that bad…”
After that Allen told them a bit of the things the Demon King had done already.
How many countries had fallen, and how many millions of people had died.
Rodan Village had been reinforced by Allen’s summons and Rosenheim’s elves, but it was not perfect yet. Even if the Demon King’s Army’s strongholds had been destroyed, they could invade at any moment.
(The Demon King seems to dislike wasting resources though, so he’s keeping still for now.)
In hindsight, all of the Demon King’s Army’s attacks were all for a specific goal.
Maybe it was his knowledge from his past life that made him so careful, but Allen knew that once they attacked again, it would be something major.
(That’s why we need to get stronger in the divine realm. I need all the help I can get.)
Allen also had a moment of retrospection thinking of everything he had already been through, and preparing himself for whatever would come.
Soon after, Muras suddenly stood up, and everyone looked at her.
“Then Muras will get strong too!”
Muras held her fist up.
“Hm?”
“You said the Demon King will attack again. So Muras will protect the village!”
“No, that’s not what I was trying to say. You’re just 10 years old.”
Muras looked a lot more mature than Kurena did at her age, and Allen tried to get her to calm down.
“We have to protect our village at least though. If the world is under attack it’ll affect everyone.”
Rodan also wanted to help. The grandparents timidly listened to their conversation.
“…Alright, tomorrow I’ll go to the Academy City to make the arrangements.”
Allen had no guarantee he would be able to defeat the Demon King, and even though he did not want to involve his family in the fight, they would have better chances that way.
“Okay. I’ll tell Gerda too then.”
They would tell Gerda too and go to the Academy City together.
“Maybe I should’ve spoken sooner after all, right Cecile? Hm? Cecile.”
While Allen felt refreshed after saying that, Cecile looked distraught, so he shook her for a bit.
“Right, talking about things is important. Hmph!”
“Hghah?!”
Cecile had been waiting for Allen’s conversation to be over, when she turned around and punched Allen straight in the cheek with all her power.
“Lady Cecile, you can stay here for the night if you wish.”
“R-right. I’ll do that. Also, just call me Cecile.”
“N-now that’s a little…”
“Alright, I’ll call you that.”
Cecile was the daughter of a duke now, so Rodan still felt hesitant to address her so casually, but Theresia accepted it with a bright smile.
The next day, Allen took Cecile, Rodan, Muras, and Gerda to the Academy City. Rodan simply told Gerda he would explain what was happening later.
“What’s this place, brother Allen?”
Muras had two brothers, so he called Allen that way.
“This is Heavy User Island. The Academy is over there.”
“Ohh! We’re floating in the air! And there’s a big city!!”
They had arrived at an edge of the island, so the edge was just a few steps away.
Muras looked down at the surface below with excitement.
They were hundreds of meters above Latash’s Academy City, which was crowded with people, so Allen’s Army returned to Heavy User Island for the time being.
“That’s incredible. We got here in an instant.”
Rodan and Gerda wondered if Allen always traveled like that.
“Allen, something big is happening there.”
“Yeah, they’re expanding the city.”
Cecile also looked down from the edge. There were enormous magic devices hundreds of meters tall, even bigger than golems, helping with building the city.
Allen had suggested that expansion a month ago to make sure students underwent Talent Changes before heading to the battlefield.
Allen had promised to give them 100’000’000 gold coins in 3 months, with an advance payment of 30’000’000 gold coins, which were being used to expand Latash’s Academy City.
The students that had graduated last March were also included there.
After traveling north, they were all called back to attend one last year at the Academy.
Allen explained all those developments and constructions going on in the island and the city.
“Oh, Commandant Allen! We’ve been waiting for you!!”
Lucidral and Bunzenbark, the elf and dark elf generals, and some others ran up to Allen.
The Wraith A summon on the island had told them that Allen was going to be there.
“Thank you very much, we appreciate what you did for elves and dark elves!!”
Lucidral’s loud voice echoed there. He knew of the Great Spirit God’s task, and the fate of Rosenheim if Allen failed.
Even the elves in Allen’s Army were restless, but after Sophie and Luck returned, they all knew they were safe.
Bunzenbark was also grateful for the dark elves.
“W-we’ll follow you…no matter what. W-we won’t let Luck’s…efforts go to waste!”
The Great Spirit God Easley was only known as a miraculous entity by elves and dark elves, so hearing that Luck had overcome a task given by him made Bunzenbark emotional.
He could hardly speak clearly, constantly choking on his own words.
“I understand. You can calm down now.”
(Muras looks completely stunned.)
“I apologize…”
It was hard to tell exactly what Bunzenbark was trying to say, his emotions getting in the way, so Allen took out a handkerchief for him to blow his nose first.
“It looks like things are taking pretty good shape now.”
“Yes. We’ve already sectioned a part of the army to help students with Talent Changes.”
Lucidral quickly explained the current situation.
Allen had called the two generals to update him on how things were going in the Academy City.
“Wait, are these people…”
“It’s my father, Kurena’s father, and my sister. I’d like to take a few soldiers for their Talent Changes.”
Luckily Allen had an army so he could make sudden requests like that.
Rodan and Gerda did not have any Talents, so they also had to learn how to go through dungeons.
“Are you sure? It seems like everyone is busy here…”
“I think the Talent Changes and Leveling Up should be done in less than 3 months. And if you need anything more I’ll make sure to accommodate things for you.”
Rodan, Gerda, and Muras would be undergoing Talent Changes before the Demon King’s Army had a chance to attack Rodan Village.
Allen also wanted to know how Rodan would plan something like conquering a dungeon.
“We already have the necessary maps, so let’s start planning how to go through the dungeons that way. Kuwatoro, use Floating Wings.”
Kuwatoro let everyone there fly.
“O-oh? Woah?!”
“Yayy, Muras is flying!!”
(Flying speed relies on the person’s Agility after all, luckily that can increase by 10000 too.
I’m sure they’ll go really fast if I give them Kuwatoro’s Sacred Beads and rings.)
Kuwatoro’s Sacred Bead raised Agility by 5000, so if they wore two, they would go through the A Rank Dungeon in 1 day.
After a visit home after a long time away, Allen finally told his parents what he was doing, while letting Rodan, Gerda, and Muras get stronger to help too.
