Hello, Mr Li: The Christmas Trip - Chapter 143
Joreen felt like she had only slept for a few minutes before she heard a knock on her door, asking the sisters to come down for breakfast. She looked beside her at Reen who stirred awake. Reen had slept in her room because she thought Joreen wouldn’t want to stay alone.
The two sisters had stayed awake waiting for their parents to return home, while talking until they dozed off.
“It’s morning already?” Reen grumbled as she pulled the duvet away and stood up from the bed.
“How are you?” She asked Joreen.
Honestly, she felt better today like yesterday hadn’t happened. The only thing that made her look sullen was the fact that Hoy hadn’t still called her until now.
“Better.” Joreen answered.
“I’ll go quickly freshen up. You should do same and join us downstairs.”
Joreen nodded and watched Reen leave. She stood up and went to brush her teeth. She didn’t bother to take her bath since her parents were already calling for them to come downstairs and besides, she wasn’t the type that felt it was a must to take her bath before having breakfast so she went downstairs.
A little while later, they were all seated around the table which was filled with variety of dishes.
“Your uncle sent these. He had his workers prepare all of this and sent to the whole family.” Cixi said when she saw the girls’ confused looks.
“Wow! That’s nice of him.” Reen said as she looked at the table. “This is like a feast.”
“How are you Jo? Did you sleep well?” Jaime asked.
“I did.” She managed to flash them a smile which made them a little bit relieved.
“We had to deal with things and it took quite a while. Wei Chan wanted to file a complaint against you for hitting him. Tsk! So silly.” Cixi said to Reen who looked surprised.
“I have a video of his dressing Zic— someone.” She said.
“Do not worry, we have handled everything. Both Kyle, Aishu, Xi, Chan and Yong. They are all going to get what they deserve. You do not have to think about any of them anymore okay?” Jaime assured Joreen who smiled at them. “Thanks. I’m sorry I ruined the holiday for everyone—”
“Do not be silly!” Cixi scolded her. “And I don’t want to hear you say anything like that again. Now let’s eat.”
After breakfast, Joreen went to her room. She decided to take her bath since her manager would be coming to pick her soon. She needed to open up the gifts her fans had sent to her and promote the new movie with Han Yu which is going to start airing soon.
She wore a showercap and tied a towel around her waist and got inside the bathroom. She passed the mirror and was surprised when she saw something that looked like an insect bite mark below her collarbone and it didn’t look small so it got her worried.
She quickly left the room and head downstairs where she could hear her mother’s voice in order to show it to Cixi.
“Mum, I have this creepy looking—” She stopped talking when she looked up and stared in shock when she saw Hoy standing there, having a conversation with her parents.
Three pair of eyes looked at her and one quickly looked away before the others.
“Uh oh…” Jaime said as he looked between the shocked Joreen and Hoy who was suddenly admiring the painting on the wall with flushed cheeks.
“You… might want to run back inside Jo. Do not make our guest uncomfortable.” Cixi said.
Joreen snapped back to her senses and gasped loudly when she remembered she was only tying a towel. The shock made her towel almost drop so she gripped it tightly like her life depended on it and turned to run back to her room. It was a little clumsy since she almost tripped a couple of times but she managed to get back to her room, slammed the door and began to pant.
Jaime cleared his throat awkwardly and looked at Hoy. “I… really would have apologized about that but… you… probably liked the little show didn’t yo—”
Cixi interrupted with a loud gasp. “What are you saying to him, you pervert? Jeez!” She hit Jaime’s hand and he chuckled.
“I really need to go out now. I’ll see you later.” He kissed his wife’s cheek and squeezed Hoy’s shoulder before he disappeared.
It took almost an hour before Joreen came out of her room, looking like she wanted the ground to open up and swallow her.
She wore a blue turtleneck with a black jacket and denim jean trousers, a pair of boots and her hair in a high bun.
“You are finally out!” Cixi said when she saw Joreen.
“I am going to the clinic. So have fun. And do not do anything you are going to be embarrassed to tell me about.” Cixi gave Joreen a pointed look and looked at Hoy who was sitting on the couch before she left the house.
When it was just the two left, Hoy asked, “Ready to leave?”
“Leave? My manager….”
“Told him I’ll be bringing you.” He interrupted.
She nodded faintly and finally followed him.
The drive was very silent and awkward. She didn’t know why she was fond of embarrassing herself in his presence.
“That could have been anyone.” He finally said, breaking the ice. He spared her a glance before looking ahead and continued to drive.
“Hmm?” She asked in confusion.
“It could have been someone else who saw you like that. You should always be cautious no matter where you are.”
“I know.” She said, biting her lower lip. She had always thought Reen would be the one to face this kind of embarrassment since she liked to stay nude but no. It was her!
He noticed how embarrassed she looked and decided to drop the topic. “Do you… want to go to a driving school and sign up?” He asked her.
She looked a bit surprised so he explained.
“You haven’t forgotten you have a car right? It’s still parked in my place. You’ll need to learn how to drive and also get a license….”
“Why are you telling me?” She cut him off.
“What do you mean?” He asked, looking confused.
“You… usually do not take permission from me or ask for my opinion before you do stuffs for me… and I do not mean I hate it, you were always doing what you believed was best for me which was true but—”
“You were my ward.” He interrupted. “You weren’t an adult then.”
“You… are my girlfriend now. So every of your opinion counts. Wait… you are my girlfriend right?” He asked carefully.
Joreen smiled sheepishly and looked out the window before nodding shyly without looking at him.
