Hello, Mr Li: The Christmas Trip - Chapter 156
“This is the most embarrassing moment of my life,” Heya muttered more to herself than to her father who was ready to walk her down the aisle.
Back then inside the room, she had prayed desperately for the ground to open up and swallow her. Although she was excited that it was her wedding day, she couldn’t bear the embarrassment. Even though some romantic stuff had been happening between her and Liang over the years, it was only proper to act innocently while in presence of the elders. But not only had they been caught, but it had been by the entire family!
She wondered how Liang could take it so well, laughing like he wasn’t embarrassed. When he sheepishly came out of the bathroom, courtesy of Queen who was excited to have found uncle for all of them and oblivious to whatever was happening there, Liang had flashed them a smile and raised a hand to wave at everyone, while saying ‘Hi’.
Yes, he said HI!
“You don’t have to be embarrassed. It wasn’t like you were caught with another man. Besides, everyone already knows you both have been doing a lot of sneaky thin—”
“FATHER!” She raised her voice, mortified. Her perfect make-up could not hide the redness of her face.
Li Fazhan chuckled. “Just be happy today. I am sure no one else remembers what happened this morning.”
She rolled her eyes. “Yea. I’m sure.” She said sarcastically before linking elbows with him.
“You ready princess?” He asked, a big smile on his face.
Her parents seemed to be the happiest people today. They had both resigned to the fact that she may never get married again after her back to back failed relationships. But here she was… getting married to the man of her dreams who gave her sleepless nights for years because she kept crying for losing him.
“I am ready Your Majesty,” Heya said with a mock bow, making her father chuckle.
The door parted and after taking a deep breath, they began to walk down the aisle.
A lovely instrumental was playing and she took a glance to see her students were handling all the instruments.
She was very excited and proud of them. She hadn’t been aware of the entire wedding process and preparation so she wondered who gave the idea to not invite a real band but her students instead. She had to hug the person.
When she saw Zhu Liang smiling at her from the other end, she quickly looked away, fearing she may break down and cry. But she regretted her action because her eyes kept meeting the eyes of her family members who were winking at her and smiling sheepishly, obviously reminding her of what had happened this morning.
The everlasting walk finally came to an end with her standing in front of the grinning groom. If there was one thing Zhu Liang liked to do, it was to smile.
He looked expensive. If anyone kidnapped him and sold off all he was wearing from his diamond earring to his golden suit to his watch and shoes, they would make a fortune for three generations.
“Hi!” He said to her excitedly.
She had little tears in her eyes but she laughed. “You do love saying ‘hi’ a lot don’t you?”
He shrugged, “I guess I do.”
They both laughed before he looked her up and down. “I think I just had a great business idea.”
“Seriously now?” She rolled her eyes.
“Look, think about it. What if we made flowing gowns like yours for cleaners?”
She raised a curious brow.
“Seriously! It would make their job easier. They just have to wear the dress and walk around, it would sweep the dirt out of the whole place.”
Both Heya and Liang burst into laughter.
“Aww. They are so adorable. I would have loved to hear the wedding vows they are exchanging.” Most of the guests whispered to themselves as they watched the two laugh until they were satisfied.
“You know… I was just thinking anyone who kidnapped you would make a lot of fortune. Did you have to dress like a gigolo on your wedding day? Who are you trying to seduce?”
“You of course! Do you know the number of guys who came here just to badmouth me?”
“You are so childish!” Heya giggled.
“Uhm… excuse me… I am still here.” The priest said awkwardly, already tired of being ignored and listening to their weird conversation.
“Oh shit! It’s our wedding.” Zhu Liang said in surprise.
“You don’t say shi… THAT… in the house of the lord.” The Priest said through gritted teeth, looking annoyed.
“Uhm… this is a hotel. Mine precisely.” Liang reminded him.
Heya tried to keep her laugh in but she let out a loud guffaw.
It took two painfully long minutes for the priest to get them back in the mood to remember what they were here for.
He read the vows for them to repeat and they both did so happily. Finally, their time in there was over and they moved to a separate hall for the wedding reception to greet the guests.
There were a few tears spilt, especially from both parents who were happy for their children. And they were a lot of hugs! A whole lot of them.
“Hey!”
The couple turned around when they heard a voice behind them, calling for their attention.
“Suyin! You came.” Heya called in surprise.
Suyin smiled at the two. “It’s… me. Congratulations you two.”
“Thanks.” The couple said at the same time before their eyes went to the young man beside her.
“Uhm.. this is my friend. His name is Kendrick Wellstone. His parents own KWC.” She introduced them to the handsome white guy who extended a hand at Liang. Heya guessed he was probably the guy Shen had talked about.
“Nice to meet you. And congratulations. This is a nice wedding.” He said in English.
After Liang shook his hand, Kendrick looked at Heya and to the couple’s surprise, he kissed her on both sides of her cheeks.
“What the hell!” Liang exclaimed, surprising Kendrick who looked confused.
Suyin laughed and explained, “You know how people from that side behave.”
“You should teach him how to behave around here,” Liang said, sounding annoyed.
Kendrick simply stood there, not understanding what the two was saying in their dialect, but he knew for sure that this guy didn’t like him.
“What about Shen?” Heya asked.
“I think he is around here somewhere— speak of the devil!” Suyin caught sight of him approaching them and excused herself with Kendrick.
“You made it!” Heya said happily.
“I did! Congratulations!”
If Liang had been surprised about what Kendrick did, he almost had a heart attack when Shen hugged Heya.
“What is wrong with everybody?” Liang asked, pulling Shen away from his wife.
“You didn’t tell him?” Shen asked Heya.
“What?”
“Tell me what?”
The couple asked at the same time.
Shen took a few steps closer to Liang and whispered quite audibly.
“That I would snatch her if you didn’t treat her well.”
“Son of a bitch!” Liang cussed angrily but Shen simply smiled and waved at them before leaving.
