Help…My Wife is a Spy - Chapter 413
Due to the fact that Avaleigh’s cancer was detected early and there weren’t any obvious signs of the cancer spreading, her chemoradiation treatment ended after 3 months. For some people, it took much longer.
On her last day of chemotherapy, Avaleigh brought gifts for all her new friends at the clinic as well as the nurses and doctors that had helped her through the journey. She was grateful for their support throughout the 3 months and was excited to start afresh.
Of course, she still had to get through that last night of nausea and her head was still bald, but she was optimistic about the future.
Emerson was there by her side as usual and he helped her out of the hospital clinic towards the car.
Now that everyone knew about Avaleigh’s condition, some reporters were naturally waiting outside. But they had learned from their past mistakes, so they were a lot more respectful.
Instead of rushing up and harassing Avaleigh with their cameras and microphones, they walked slowly beside her, keeping a distance as they gently asked a few questions.
“Ava, congratulations on your last round of chemotherapy. Your peers and friends are all very proud of you. May I ask how you’re feeling right now and what your plans are for the future? Will you be returning to ‘Let’s Go!’” one female reporter asked.
Avaleigh smiled and replied softly, “I am feeling a little dizzy so I can’t really think about the future right now, but I am very glad that it is all over. Chemotherapy is tough. I would like to cheer on my friends at the clinic that are still battling this horrible illness. I hope they all recover smoothly. I may not have set plans for the future yet, but if I can, I am hoping to eventually start a charity for cancer research or help in some way. I hope we will find a cure one day.”
The reporter smiled and nodded in agreement, “It would be amazing if that could be achieved one day.” She then glanced down at the ring on Avaleigh’s finger and asked, “What about your engagement with Mr. Wu. Are you planning to hold an engagement party now that things are all over? Have you set a date for your wedding?”
Ever since Avaleigh revealed her condition 2 months ago, she had become the biggest trending topic on social media. Every publication followed her story and there were photos of her posted online every single day. 90% of the time, Emerson was in the photos with her. Even though he had an entire casino and entertainment agency to run, he prioritized his fiancee and did not go into the office unless completely necessary. During this time, Jackson helped at the casino and Danson continued to manage the entertainment agency for him. Thus, everyone saw Emerson’s efforts and they were completely smitten. All their doubts were immediately dismissed and Emerson and Avaleigh quickly became their favorite couple.
“Yes, when is your wedding? The entire nation is looking forward to it!” another reporter cheered excitedly.
Avaleigh smiled sweetly and glanced at Emerson. She loved this man so much that it practically felt like they were already married. “I guess…I have to wait until my hair grows back first; otherwise, I won’t be beautiful enough to match Mr. Wu,” she giggled as she touched her bald head.
Emerson leaned over and placed a kiss on her head, “I don’t care about your bald head. I could marry you tomorrow.”
The female reporters squealed and the male reporters cheered. “I don’t think I’ll be eating dessert today. This scene is too sweet,” a reporter laughed as she watched the couple board their car.
Avaleigh giggled at the comment. “We haven’t set a wedding date yet, but when we do, Steven will make an announcement. You can speak to him if you have any questions,” she said as she boarded Emerson’s car. The reporters understood that their interview was over and waved her goodbye as they stepped back with respect.
…
When Avaleigh and Emerson arrived back at their apartment, they noticed a familiar car in their underground parking lot. They parked their car and entered the lobby to find Natasha waiting for them. Natasha rushed over with a bunch of flowers and handed them to Avaleigh.
A smile immediately appeared on Avaleigh’s face.
“Let’s chat upstairs,” she said as she accepted the flowers. She then unhooked her arm with Emerson and hooked it with Natasha’s.
Emerson looked at his bare arms and chuckled as he looked at his fiancee. Ever since Natasha showed up at his family’s mansion and apologized to Avaleigh 2 months ago, an unlikely friendship formed between the two women. Perhaps, it was because they were both around the same age and had experienced many struggles in the entertainment industry, so they understood each other.
Natasha was actually a genuine person. After she realized she had misunderstood Avaleigh, she didn’t just apologize in person, but she also made a public apology on all her social media accounts. She also made the effort to visit and show her support whenever she could, and she slowly became good friends with Avaleigh.
At first, Emerson was worried that she was doing it for show because she knew Avaleigh was trending. But time proved that that was not the case. Natasha was never seen in public with Avaleigh and she always appeared at their apartment in secret. Even today, when she knew reporters were definitely gathered at the hospital, she chose to wait in their apartment lobby for their return.
As soon as the two women stepped into the apartment, Natasha wrapped her arms around Avaleigh and cheered. “Congratulations! It’s finally over!”
Avaleigh smiled and nodded her head. This woman seemed even happier than she was, “Yes, it’s all over.”
Emerson laughed and walked over to the kitchen to give the two women some privacy. It was nice to see that Avaleigh had a friend. Because she had left home at a young age to start her career in Korea, she didn’t have many friends in Hong Kong. Sometimes, he actually worried that she was lonely. But he didn’t have to worry anymore.
