Heretic In The Heavens - Chapter 10
A teenager was sitting in a dark room, with sweat pouring down his face. He was cross-legged and rugged and muscular looking. If someone from the Kewang Clan were to come in, they would recognise this person as Kewang Yun!
He had completely changed in the past two years, fully devoting himself to cultivation. If someone were to know what cultivation level he was now, they jaw might just fall off.
[Good.] He thought to himself.
[I’ve already made it through the first few fazes of ‘Ausra’s Way’ and mastered the 6th stance of the laughing sabre.] He laughed to himself, thinking it was all too easy.
He had been preparing for the Clan’s annual competition wholeheartedly for a year now after he decided not to compete in the last one. He promised to himself, if he was going to play the game, he will win or die trying.
Initially, he had some reservations about training so hard, such as not being able to see Xiao Tian, yet the more he trained the less concerned he was. Eventually, half a year ago he went to see him for the last time, concluding their relationship, in his mind at least.
[Why would I befriend that trash? He’s a cripple, and in the future will only drag me down.]
Kewang Yun snorted. If he wanted to achieve perfection, he would do what ‘Asura’s Way’ told him to, and be willing to abandon what is not necessary, and that pathetic cripple, was not important.
In fact, as soon as he abandoned his friendship with Xiao Tian, he had immediately, improved in his cultivation, it had allowed him to focus more on the self, and therefore, increase the rate at which he could corrupt Qi, and convert it into the almighty ‘Asura Qi’!
Without the heart knot that was Kewang Tian, he had already reached the late Qi infusion stage! This was unprecedented in the history of Lotus City. There were 9 Stages of the Qi Condensing Realm: Gathering, Refinement and finally Infusion. To reach from early Qi Gathering to late Infusion, it would take a normal Cultivator a decade or two, and it would take a heaven-defying talent at least 7 years.
The fact that Kewang Yun had done this in just two short years, it would be called, not just historic, but miraculous. Which gave him an insatiable ego boost, and drive to achieve more!

It was noon, and there was the roaring of the crowd at the proving grounds had just picked up. There were many people here today, on the northern side of the ground there was a raised seating area, which was seated by the elders, and Patriarch of the Clan. Watching keenly at the show unfolding on stage.
It was only two random juniors of the Clan that were dueling, they were just random plebeians to Kewang Yun, choosing to not even acknowledge their petty existence. Looking around the grounds, most people have an excited face on though.
[Those trash, cheering for trash, even my idiot brothers are watching]
Thinking about his brothers, he had an idea of what was going to happen to them today. Thinking about it made him want to smile madly.
[The tournament today is going to be a long one.] He thought to himself.
There was going to be over a hundred decedents of the Clan battling today, all of which are the same age or older than him, yet it didn’t matter to Kewang Yun, in his eyes they were all worthless!
The first stages of the ‘tournament’ were group stages. Groups of 5 would randomly be chosen, only one of which advance, to the next stage. After which the winners would be put into groups of three, and only one from each of those groups would advance. Finally, would be the interesting part the battle royal. The remaining contestants were all caged together until only one was left standing.
This type of ending could cause many troubles, such as an overeager junior, a death or two, but in the end, the hierarchy of the Clan decided, that they didn’t want to breed weakness, and although, a murder would be severely punished, they would not be killed.
This year many expected the Patriarchs first three sons to go in the cage, which was never a good situation, as it was a keen opportunity, to sort out a messy succession. Fortunately, the three brothers were as thick as thieves, so they wouldn’t intentionally injure one another. But they may still fight like animals, as there were, of course, prizes for the winners.
First place would receive an unnamed 500-year-old spirit herb and ten yellow ranked pills. The second will get five yellow ranked pills, and third will receive just one. These were all incredible prizes! Ten yellow ranked pills could bankrupt many of the business in Lotus City, it was one of the biggest rewards, the Clan had put out in almost a century, as heavens know, how much it would cost!
The thing that Kewang Yun wanted though was that spirit herb. His Iron Elephant technique hadn’t had much success in the past two years, which infuriated him. Eventually, he realised many of these so-called body techniques, would cost vast amounts of money, and to break through the 2nd stage, he would at least need a century herb.
[I must get that spirit herb after I break through to the 2nd stage of the Iron elephant my body will be unbreakable!] he would repeat to himself constantly.
Whilst presiding over these things, several matches have unexpectedly passed, as he heard the referee presiding over the competition call his name.
He slowly walked over to the stage, holding in his had a bent wooden stick to many people’s surprise.
‘Why has he got a stick?’
‘A stick, why hasn’t he chosen a sabre?’
Many judged him critically but dared not to mock him.
He ascended those wooden steps, feeling that he could challenge the world with ease.
The referee glared at him, Kewang Yun’s opponent has a spear with him, could he be blamed for this young man’s arrogance? He slowly sighed.
Seeing the old man Kewang Yun got angry, [I’ll show you, you withered old man!]
“Begin!”
The old man shouted, and the roar of the crowd ignited.
His opponent rushed him holding his spear overhead, “SERPENTS DECENT!” he yelled at the top of his lungs, as his spear descended.
Witnessing his attack, he snorted “Slither away little snake, for today you face Kewang Yun and know my wrath!”
Kewang Yun stayed perfectly still and chuckled slightly, whispering “Laughing in the Moonlight”
