Heretic In The Heavens - Chapter 28
“Congratulations, to all that have made it here today.” The old man spoke in a low voice.
“There are many of you who will not be talented enough to enter the great halls of the Abyssal School. To those, I am sincerely sorry and ask you to make the most of your life afterward, and not brood in shame.”
The words struck the crowd.
That’s right not all of them would make it, but they were still people were they not? Just because they aren’t the best of the best, doesn’t mean that they weren’t any less valuable in the eyes of their families or Clans!
Kuo Li’s words soothed the hearts of many nervous youths, giving them not a sense of purpose, but a sense of belonging. Even those who would normally say that “cultivating is the point of my life” had their hearts calmed.
As the old man stood on stage, he couldn’t help but crack a smile. Noticing how the raging sea of emotions had become a pond, calm and pristine.
“Excellent. Everyone has passed their first test.”
‘What?’
‘Did something happen?’
Many were confused, especially Kewang Tian.
Seeing his confused face Shi Hui couldn’t help but chuckled, leaning over to whisper, “The first test was the clearing of heart demons. You notice how calm everyone had become clam?”
Kewang Tian looked around, to his surprise everyone in the courtyard was calm and looked completely relaxed.
“How does he know that everyone’s heart demons have been cleared?” he didn’t understand how someone could see into so many hearts at once!
Shi Hui chuckled lightly so that only a few people around him could hear. “He doesn’t need to know. Think, what happens to a cultivator if a heart demon takes root?”
Gulp. “Bedevilment!” sweat started to profusely sweat down his head, forming a small sea on his robes.
Shi Hui patted him on the shoulder. “Don’t worry about it. It is easy to clear the heart demons of those who are of a low cultivation, and even easier for those who haven’t even awakened!”
Up on stage, the old man waved a few people to come out, four men in black robes stepped forward.
“These four men will be your examiners, you will split into for groups, and each will go into the four doorways you see around you.”
The old man flicked his sleeve, causing four doorways to suddenly rise out of the ground. All were the same, made of plain brown wood, and had simple stone surrounding them in an archway.
“These doors are micro-realms, they lead to trial rooms, and have their own independent spaces. They are an adaptation of holding bags and are valuable beyond measure.” Kuo Li gloated.
Any sect would be prideful of these things, the master blacksmith of the Abyssal School had specially made them.
One of the four men, and the ugliest by forward stepped forward. “Line up you maggots! Just because you passed the first trial, it doesn’t make you powerful! Now you are on the same level as the contents of my chamber port! Move! Move! Four equal lines for each door!”
“You there! Ugly!” he roared, pointing at a boy who was in the middle of the crowd.
“Do you want me to come down there and move you myself.” He said furiously!
The boy started to stutter his words, and shake, trying to walk away he stumbled a lot. Making everyone laugh.
The ugly man in black saw this and roared.
“You think this is funny, I will come down there and break your sweet little faces!” he bellowed, killing intent started to fill the room.
The laughter instantaneously stopped.

A few minutes after the commotion. Kewang Tian was next to go into the doorway. It had been an extraordinarily boring experience so far, it had just been queuing. People would go in, the majority of which would be thrown out, and sulk to themselves. But after they saw the look on the ugly man’s face they would run off, perhaps never to be seen again.
Shi Hui had gone in before him and hadn’t come out, one can only assume that he passed the test. The annoying girl that had tried to kill him had also unfortunately passed, much to Kewang Tian’s dismay.
The door Kewang Tian was standing in front suddenly opened with a loud bang, as it swung heavily. He took a deep breath, preparing himself mentally for what’s to come when a voice appeared in his head.
[Idiot, you have a bloodline none could compare with, and I’m your Martial Spirit! What are you so worried about? The ancient clans in the divine realm would clamor around you, trying to breed you with their chosen daughters like a prized stallion! Now go.]
Hearing her words Kewang Tian couldn’t help but have a satisfied smile crown his lips, hopping through the door, feeling like one day he could become king of the world!
