Heretic In The Heavens - Chapter 33
Kewang Yun stood up, his knees creaked and his back ached. Even standing up took his breath away, “Truly this is abysmal, I swear once I break through to Sea Realm I’ll never become old again. I shall take on a youthful appearance and stay like that eternally.” He growled, annoyed at the state his body is in.
Once he stood up he carefully walked out of the old dusty room. It was in such a state that it caused him to cough violently, as the skin particles invaded his lungs.
Cough! Cough!
He pushed the door to his chambers wide open, revealing a dark and gloomy hallway. Outside was an old man like him, whose skin was covered with liver spots.
When he saw Kewang Yun he took a deep bow, “Successor, you’ve awoken!” he blurted out, thankful that the once boy had emerged from his seclusion, and had mastered the holy scripture of their sect.
Ignoring the title, he had been given, he grabbed onto the man’s collar, “I’m on my last embers of life. I need to break through to Sea Realm or I’ll die. I need some pills to help me!” Kewang Yun demanded.
“Of course, Successor, I’ll go inform the Mistress at once, please go sit down and wait for my return.” The old man bowed nimbly and shot off.
Kewang Yun could only scoff in reply, this man was obviously nowhere near the end of his lifespan, yet he chose to take such a form. The old man was at the Nascent Realm and had a lifespan of a few thousand years. Perhaps he was being punished, and this was to teach him some humility?
Kewang Yun thought back to Lotus City, and Kewang Jin, and how much of a miscreant he was. Perhaps if this fate was given to him he’d learn not to steal people’s wives. He shook his head and chuckled a tad.
At that very moment, he felt enlightened he laughed?
Strange, he’d not felt a true and pure moment since he’d cultivated the [Asura’s Way], could it be because he’d received the full inheritance that he could now slightly feel again?
He thought back, back to the death of his brothers and he dared not think her name. He thought of the moments he let his brothers die, and how he had killed his oldest. He still felt no remorse for that fact, but her He could feel the pain in his chest. It was growing and growing, unable to be contained.
“Did I truly love her?” He wondered as he looked at the floor, where teardrops had hit it. He closed his eyes and sat down. Although he could feel emotions now, was it a good thing? There was still one final knot in his heart his father.
He felt that if he killed his father now, in this exact moment he could burst through to the Sea Realm.
He shook his head at this idea though, every time he’d undone a knot in his heart he’d have a breakthrough in his cultivation. So, he would hold off killing him for now, perhaps he’d do it as he ascends to the divine realm or is about to break into Heaven Realm and become a Heavenly Demon.
Kewang Yun smiled at the thought and stared out of the small window the room had. Outside was a wasteland, the land was scorched black and torn apart. Vast abysses littered the land, as lightning cascaded from the darkened skies.
It was the same as before, a monstrous land, where only a monster could survive.
Kewang Yun got lost in the devastation of the land, he didn’t know how much time had passed until finally a masked woman and the old man appeared.
The old man was carrying a small ornate box, which was engraved with all types of runes. And although the lady was covered, one could tell that she was happy under her mask.
“Good. You’ve mastered the Asura Codex?” her old and decrepit voice leaked from her mask.
“Mastered? No. The moment it’s mastered will be the moment they are unrivaled in the world. Let me ask you, Madam, do you believe I’m unrivaled?” Kewang Yun spoke slowly, realizing whilst this woman wasn’t a threat to him currently, she was indeed dangerous. Possessing an unfathomable cultivation base and an eerily aura.
She stood still, like a statue for a few moments not uttering anything, “Unrivalled? Not yet.”
The Sect Master waved to the old man to step forward, “The Pills he’s holding are enough to walk you through to the peak of the Sea Realm. Don’t contact me again until you’re on the verge of reaching Nascent Realm. Understood?”
Kewang Yun nodded, showing that he knew what her words meant, that if he failed he’d be worthless to the Sect and perhaps dispossessed.
“This is Caretaker Zhao, he’ll be taking your requests and looking after you for now. Also, if you encounter Ji Peng in the future don’t let him grovel too much. That boy’s like a leech, his talent is alright, scoring around 400 on our tests. But unfortunately, he seems more talented at worming his way into things than achieving anything.”
The woman sighed and walked out, leaving Caretaker Zhao and Kewang Yun alone.
“Whose Ji Peng, and I don’t understand the score.” Kewang Yun questioned the Caretaker.
“Ji Peng is a disciple here, with a heaven ranked martial spirit. But he gets a hard time because he’s the last member of this Ji Clan, which was irradiated by the Sect Master. His score his at 400, that kind of talent was witnessed by the Main Tribe, and they demanded that the Sect Master spare him.” Caretaker Zhao explained while Kewang Yun nodded his head.
“You said Heaven Ranked Martial Spirit, what’s that? Where I’m from they ranked them by numbers.” Kewang Yun was curious again.
“It’s rather complicated Successor, I’ve heard they rank Martial Spirits differently in some places. Here though we rank them Low, Middle or High then put them into different categories such as Mortal, Black, Yellow, Earth, Heaven and Finally Divine.” Caretaker Zhao explained extensively.
“Now let’s see what pills I have.” Kewang Yun said, excited to become youthful again.
