Hessian Does A Thing - Volume 1 Chapter 17 Chaldea?
“WELCOME TO YOUR OWN PURGATORY, SAINT OF ORLEANES!!” the young magician yelled as he waved around his pitchfork while flames rose up in the background from what seems to be pages of a book while Salter ignored everything as she ate her junk food.
“But don’t worry, as a saint your punishment is pretty light.” Hessian clarified to the confused saint while nodding as he opened up a folder “Let’s see here, you just need to learn math FOR THE NEXT ETERNITY AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!” he laughed maniacally as he pulled out a set of textbooks on each hand.
“NOOOOOOOOO!” Jeanne D’Arc fell down to her knees and yelled to the heavens.
The demi-servant kouhai stood to the side blankly with the Queen of France and co smiling at the scene in front of them.
“Tsk there are too many Wyverns interrupting mid dialogue to actually do any meaningful scenes.” Hessian clicked his tongue as he spammed a torrent of flames and lightning from floating pages of his book. “Marie! Any ideas?” he turned to the French Queen
“Umm.” ” WHAT’S SIX TIMES THREE!?” Jeanne tried to cut in but was immediately silenced back to her multiplication tables
“Well we could get more help, I hear there is a Dragon Slayer” the Queen proposed.
“Excellent!” Hessian exclaimed while pointing to the sky and turned to his eggplant kouhai “Mash! I need to borrow your shield.” he said as he s grabbed the shield
“Senpai? Are you going to try summoning for a Dragon Slayer?” the demi-servant asked
“Yup” he popped the ‘P’ as he took out some saint quartz.
“Who are you going to summon? Is it Siegfriend? Saint Georgios?”
“Even better! For there is a legend in the east of a swordsman who cut down dragons as if they were just swallows!” Hessian exclaimed as he stabbed a really long blue sword next to the shield and threw down the quartz
The shield lit up as the summoning sequence began. A pillar of light filled the sky until it dissipated to reveal a lean man in blue robes.
“Servant Assassin, true name Sasaki Kojirou. At least.. that’s who I am supposed to be.” he said as mash tilted her head
“Senpai, I don’t remember Kojirou-san being a dragon slayer.” she said
“The young lady is correct, I have never slain a dragon before” the samurai confirmed but Hessian simply put a hand on his shoulder and looked him in the eye
“Don’t worry. Dragons are just bigger swallows” he said with a thumbs up as the Samurai seemed to understand what his new master meant.
“Then I should get to work.” Assassin said before running off into the direction of approaching wyverns.
“Senpai, shouldn’t we back him up?” Mash asked but Hessian just waved his hand as if to say it’s fine.
“Nah, I just realized the best way to do this.” the young magician said as he brought out more quartz
2 hours later
The wall of the cathedral-like building broke down as Jeanne D’arc Alter turned to look at the intruder. The dust settled to reveal a familiar looking magician with an out of place sombrero in front of an army of blue haired samurai.
“THIS IS THE END JALTER! TREMBLE IN FEAR FOR YOU FACE THE REGENDARY ARMY!!” Hessian yelled as the army of Sasakis behind him began their charge at the dumbfounded dragon witch
Hessian honestly wasn’t sure how he should go about beating Goetia. Supposedly the fake King of Mages should be watching him at all times as he goes through the singularities. Now that he thinks about it, maybe Geotia’s into voyeur. Who knows what thoughts run through the demon god’s mind as he watches them.
SCENE CUT TO GOETIA
“WHAT JUST HAPPENED!?”
The demon god yelled as he watched the King of Knights get killed by a giant burger
BACK TO PRESENT
“Master are you alright?” he turned to stare at his kouhai for a moment.
“Um, why are you looking at me so intensely?” Mash asked a bit fl.u.s.tered
The thought just hit him. What exactly happened to Chaldea? Even if Chaldea was destroyed and everyone else besides Mash and Fou were killed, Chaldea itself should still exist.
“Mash, what happened to Chaldea?”
“Eh?”
“Sorry if it’s too soon, but I need to know.” There were too many variables and possibilities to consider. Despite Hessian acting like it, he’s not invincible.
The demi-servant looked down for a moment as he waited for her to gather her thoughts.
“I don’t know.” she responded as she raised her head at him
“It all happened so fast. The ground started to shake, then the explosion came soon after.”
“There was…. another master candidate that I met before that. He came and tried to help me….” Hessian noticed that her voice was shaking and waited patiently. Even if she spoke quieter, he could easily hear her.
“Then a second explosion came… I don’t hic remember…” tears dripped to the floor as her head drooped towards the floor.
She felt a hand on her head. It felt incredibly warm and safe.
“Sorry, due to my magic I’ve become a mess when it comes to my emotions but. You did good” Hessian tried to give her a reassuring smile and an awkward hug.
It’s not that he was incapable of feeling emotions or he was apathetic. Ultimately, he wasn’t capable of properly conceiving them and doesn’t have enough experience with his magic to sort out his feelings to let him feel like a regular person. While it could be said that the Kaleidoscope made his mind unstable, it could be fixed with more experience and time.
But for now when he tries to comfort the demi-servant, he’s unsure if he’s doing it properly. The most he can do is emulate what the old him would do before getting the kaleidoscope. Unknown to him, his efforts were incredibly warm to the eggplant kouhai.
Stepping out of the portal, Hessian looked around the long corridor. Hearing the portal close behind him, he turned to his servants.
“Split up and search for any survivors. Mash with me.” The current servants he had with him besides Mashu was Sasaki Kojirou and a recently summoned caster cu.
“This place looks like it’s seen hell” Cu said as he walked in one direction
“I agree, it doesn’t bode well.” The samurai added as he left the other direction
“Well that was sorta insensitive.” The young magician commented
“No, it’s fine senpai, I’m alright.” the kouhai tried to reassure him but he honestly didn’t believe her
“Can you take me to the command room?”
“Of course, it’s this way.” she said as her voice seemed to be more determined but Hessian honestly couldn’t tell
“Now that’s interesting.”
Hessian stared at the spinning orb that is the ‘Light of Chaldea’ in the center of the room. The round orb in the center essentially utilitzes the world’s ‘soul’ as a foundation to manifest and replicate the planetary body of the earth. Most magi would marvel at such an interesting device, but Hessian wasn’t interested in it as it wasn’t personally ‘cool’ to him. Interesting? Yes. Cool? meh.
“The marvel wears off after the first 10 glances.”
Mashu turned towards the voice in alert but nearly dropped her shield as her eyes widened.
“It’s nice to see you’re still lively Mashu Kyrelight.” the feminine voice came from a brunette in a red dress that looked like it came from the renaissance. But the thing that made the demi-servant dumbstruck was the pale haired man seated next to her.
“Doctor Roman!” she nearly shouted
“It’s good to see you’re safe aswell.” He gave her a warm smile.
Hessian watched the two from the distance as he let them catch up. Then he realized something as he turned to the brunette servant.
“So… I hear you’re a genius.”
“The greatest genius~!” she responded
“Oh I can tell you and I are going to have lots of fun.” Hessian smiled as he found someone who could actually help him with his mystic codes.
