Hessian Does A Thing - Volume 1 Chapter 33 Lahmu
Hessian POV
Mystic Eyes. According to Rin, they appeared whenever there was a mutation in the magic circuits located in the eyes. Mutations like that can be done artificially through a process similar to forging a Magic Crest. However, only Mystic Eyes of the Binding, Charm and Whisper types can be produced like this. Inborn Mystic Eyes on the other hand, are much rarer but there have been known cases of it.
Mystic Eyes are like single action spells that are activated through pumping prana through the them. So basically it’s like having one of those overpowered eyes from Naruto. Knowledge and recognition of the type of Mystic Eyes beforehand actually lowers the effectiveness of the eyes. It’s theorized that Mystic Eyes are just a powerful psychic ability. An example would be Fujino Asagami. Since her Mystic Eyes were the result of her family’s psychic ability evolving to a point that it was on par with Magecraft.
“DON’T LOOK AT ME WITH THOSE EYES!” Maybe that’s why Ana’s eyes can offset Gorgon’s
Truly fascinating I muse as I observe everyone battling, while I continue to dodge the purple beams from the hair snakes.
“GORGON!” I hear Ana yell as she makes her way towards her
“DO NOT CALL ME BY THAT NAME!” she yells as she continues to cover her own eyes.
I watch as Ana cuts her way through all the hair snakes with her immortal slaying scythe. I wonder if Nanashi can kill an Immortal. I mean Zanpakutos are literally called ‘Soul Cutter’, so it should be able to kill an immortal.
“Do not obstruct my vengeance! Why won’t you understand that?” I notice Gorgon finally opening her eyes.
“Mash.” I call out as she blocks the petrifying beam for Ana.
“Ana, go!” I order as I command pages to defend her.
She jumped towards Gorgon’s giant b.r.e.a.s.ts ready to cut her down. Lasers are blocked by multiple pages to allow her free reign. I watch as Ana’s scythe pierces the giant snake milf. Cracks spread over her body.
“NO, I AM TIAMAT! THE PRIMORDIAL GODDESS!” she screams as she begins to fall down
“You are not, you are the monster of the Shapeless Isle. The hero slayer, that is who you are… You’re vengeance will never leave the Island.” I hear Ana tell her as they both fall towards the abyss
I walk towards the crevice in which they both fell. “Good work, Ana… See you later.” I drop a wreathe of flowers from the old lady she spent time with during her stay at Uruk.
*BOOM
“Yo Kingu! You’re a bit late bro!” I call out to him as he floats around in the air.
“I see, so she sacrificed herself to kill her.” I hear him speak to himself
“Oh, are you upset about this?”
“I actually wanted to let her live a little longer, but it can’t be helped” he sighs
“I finally got through” Doctor Roman’s voice came through the communicator on Hessian’s wrist. “What’s going on Hessian? Gorgon’s spirit origin is gone, so why hasn’t the singularity disappeared yet?!” he asked worriedly
“Well obviously because ‘Tiamat’ isn’t dead yet” the young magician replies like it’s the most obvious thing in the world. “By the way Merlin, make sure you get here soon in case I fail.” Hessian tells him as Merlin coughs up blood.
“I see, so you knew that I put Tiamat to sleep?” Merlin asks as he begins to fade.
“Yep, I knew this wasn’t something we could avoid since the start.” He replies as he turns back to Kingu. “Well, you got what you wanted right Kingu?”
“That’s right, my only concern was to find a way to pull Mother out of her slumber.” he admits “But if she wouldn’t wake up while alive, all I had to do was to find a way to kill her.”
“Because you lot defeated Gorgon, the impact of death reverberated back to the synchronized Mother.” he explained “Now behold our true Mother, the original Sin of humanity!”
The group watched as the fake Enkidu flies off “This is goodbye for real this time!”
Hessian POV
“What are these things!?” I hear a civilian shout as he’s ripped in half by the black rubbery monster
We returned back to Uruk to find it in chaos. The Lahmus are killing everyone in sight.
“Stand strong! If we don’t fight, then who will!?” the soldiers began to rally themselves
“Here they co-” one of the soldiers were cut off as they were bodyslammed by one of the monsters
“What the hell are these things!?”
“Ishtar, start sniping” I tell her
“I would have done that without you having to tell me!” She yells as she starts raining down blue light. Oh wow she actually sounds pissed right now. I guess she is the patron deity of Uruk after all.
“Mash, leave me and go protect as much people as you can.” I don’t need her against Lahmus so protecting me is redundant
“Understood!” I watch her jump towards a group of fleeing civilians being chased by the monsters.
Right, I guess I should do something aswell.
“Stand at the Zenith, Nanashi.” I speak quietly this time
Might aswell take the chance to test what I can do. “Stop!” I shout as my voice reverberates with refined reiatsu. They actually all stopped, problem is the fleeing people stopped as well. Well shit. The Lahmu are beginning to twitch as they tried to regain movement.
“ISHTAR! SHOOT THEM DOWN BEFORE THEY START MOVING AGAIN!” I ordered as she responded by killing the ones closest to the civilians.
“Master, the enemy seem to be retreating.” I noticed as I stare at the Lahmu leaving by the dozens. They didn’t leave out of fear, perhaps they were ordered?
“We need to report to the king, let’s go. Quetzalcoatl, stay here in case they come back.”
“Leave it to me! Hessian!” she gives me a thumbs up
“The mysterious demon beasts have retreated, but the damage is extensive… Please give your orders!” the soldier begged as the rest of the surviving citizens of Uruk were holed up in the Ziggurat.
The king looked around the room filled with his people. He let out air through his nose as he stood up to give his last decree to his people.
“At last, the day of destruction is upon us!” he began as the room quieted down “We have two more days at most! But, there’s no need for you to die with Uruk!” murmurs of the crowd began to come due to their king’s words
“Those who wish to live, head to the Northern Wall! If you wish to fight, then die for Uruk’s sake!” he gestured towards the north “You have until evening. Say your farewells to your friends and family.” with those words, everyone took a moment before reluctantly leaving
Some guards looked torn between what to choose. Hessian and his group stood before the king as he retook his seat on the throne.
“I see you’ve returned Chaldeans. Looks like you succeeded in defeating of Gorgon”
“Yah, unfortunately this wasn’t something we could stop.” Hessian said with a helpless sigh
“Will you rest a little?” he asks
“What kind of gamer would I be if I took a break before the climax” he smirked “No, I’ll keep going until the end.”
“Oh? Well then what do you plan to do?”
Hessian took a moment to look around the room as if searching for something.
“Where’s Siduri?” Hessian asked
“That’s right, where is Siduri-san?” Mash asked as she noticed her absence
“Don’t waste my time with a question you already know the answer to Hessian.” Gilgamesh responds
“Then isn’t it obvious what were doing next?”
“Very well, I never considered you lot as Uruk’s forces to begin with so it saves manpower. You are to head to Eridu and find out the situation immediately!” he decreed as the group set out towards Eridu.
“FORGIVE ME! FORGIVE ME! FORGIVE ME!” a man continued to plead as he repeatedly slammed a rock on another man’s face
“KEKEEHAHAAHHAHA!” the surrounding Lahmu watched amused at the display of violence.
Around them were still some survivors that were kept alive for entertainment. Once one of the men died, a few Lahmu surrounded the winner. “Wait,! I thought you would let me live if I killed him!” he shouted as the ignored his cries
Before the Lahmu finished the man off, a blue energy beam pierced through multiple Lahmus.
“I’m actually pissed off at this!” Ishtar yelled as she spammed light down at the Lahmu.
“I agree, I need to blow off some steam, yes!” Quetzalcoatl did not look happy as she crushed one of them with her bludgeon.
The young magician noticed a Lahmu waving as if surrendering. He narrowed his eyes.
“Leave that Lahmu, focus on the rest!” he ordered
The Lahmu continued killing the fleeing civilians
“They’re ignoring us?!” Mash yelled as the Lahmu opted to ignore the stronger ones.
“Just keep taking as much of them out as you can!” Hessian yelled while cleaving through a group of enemies.
A chain appeared as it pierced through multiple Lahmus at once.
“Kingu!”
The fake Enkidu came down as he looked at the group of Lahmu
“What are you lot doing!? These acts are beneath even those damned humans, no even below the demonic beasts!” he yelled at the Lahmu who seemed to just look at him expressionlessly
“Well, I guess you can’t choose family. Fine, I will command you guys” he said as he turned to the Chaldeans
“Family?” the demi-servant asked
“Correct, we are creatures created from the same mother. Though different in shape, we are similar in nature, so to say.”
“Kingu, you aren’t Tiamat’s child!” Hessian yelled “We checked down in the underworld, Enkidu’s body was gone!”
“Which means your body wasn’t made from Tiamat! You’re body is different from the Lahmu and from the humans of this land!” Ishtar said. “You are nobody, an imposter created by the utilization Enkidu’s corpse.” he seemed to be affected by her words as he turned to look at his ‘siblings’
“What Nonsense. In any case, the fact still stands that I am a child of Tiama-” His words were cut off as he looked down to see his chest pierced through from behind.
“Oh shit” Hessian commented as he looked at the gruesome scene of Kingu being lifted in the air by the Lahmu.
“You. Are. Very. Boring.” The Lahmu spoke “KEHEHEHAHAHAHAHAHA!” the Lahmu began to laugh at the injured Kingu.
“What’s so funny?” Kingu asked with difficulty as he processed his situation
“It. Obvious. Because. Watching. You. Funny. Because. This. Fun!” the one that stabbed him spoke out oddly. “Fun! Fun! Fun! Fun! Killing. Humans. Really. Fun!”
“Ya’ll have shit tastes in hobbies” Hessian said as everyone noticed the Lahmu rip something out of Kingu’s body. “That light is the grail’s light! We need to grab it before it takes it to Tiamat!” He yelled as the Lahmu ate the grail.
“You. No. Need. Anymore.” The Lahmu’s body began to morph as it became more humanoid. “It. Is. Our. Job. To. Wake. Mother. You. Are. Obselete” It’s speech seemed to be getting better as wings sprouted from it’s back. “Now. Die. Here” it said as it flew off
“Ishtar get it!” Hessian ordered as Ishtar was the fastest flier
“Right! Leave it to me!” she said as she flew off at max speed towards the flying Lahmu
“We need to take down the rest of them now and catch up! Mash in front!” Hessian said as hundreds of pages surrounded the area.
“Yes, Master!” she responded by raising her shield in front of him
“Quetzalcoatl, can you get us a ride?” Hessian asked
“Si! Come my Quetzalcoatalus!” two flying dinosaurs appeared from the skies
“Wow you have terrible naming sense.” he commented as he blew up the rest of the Lahmu
It was the beginning of the end
