High academy:the truth untold - 3 Chapter 3. Questioning and escape
Finally the unknown man decided to help her.
His eyes roamed around the area to find something to cover her naked body. Soon, his eyes found a bag. He assumed it might be hers and went to check it.
He saw few clothes and few assets papers in it. “Might be a run away case,” he thought and took a pair of clothes. He really didn’t want to keep his nose in others business, however he can’t leave someone when they need help.
He assisted her to put the pair of clothes on her. His hands again rummaged through the bag, took out a phone and made a call to the hospital. The call got immediately connected, “Hello! An ambulance is required, immediately at the highway near the forest, at division 45!”
“Will be reporting in 10 minutes, ” the receptionist replied back.
After ending the call, he neatly placed all her belongings beside her.
He thought he has done what he could do and swiftly went his way, minding his own business.
…..
The distorted voices of the people filled in the air around her. Some kind of siren sounds, blue and red lights flashed surrounding her.
Slowly, Roselia’s mind regains consciousness and begins to analyze her surroundings. She could hear the voices and sounds, but her vision was still clouded. Everything was painful. Her own body, felt like a burden to her right now. Yet, ignoring the pain, Roselia tried to open her eyes slowly and blinked rapidly to clear the blurriness that clouded her eyes.
“3 bodies found sir, ” A male voice reported.
“What—-” the other person, who just started to speak, immediately stopped himself and rushed to Roselia’s side noticing her slight stirring. In an instant, three people surrounded her and watched as if she was waking from a comatose.
As soon as she opened her eyes, she was met with unknown faces. She tried to react, but her body wasn’t supplying enough power or energy to do that. A small groan of pain erupted from her throat and the people above her panicked.
“Hey, can you hear us?” the only female officer asked her. She was mostly one meter away from her, yet Roselia couldn’t decipher it, as if it was coming from a far away place. Her head was pounding with pain with the siren of the approaching ambulance from a distance. Everyone turned their heads towards the direction of sound.
Soon, the paramedics were rushed to Roselia’s side and checked for her condition.
“Multiple cuts on the body. Seemingly, heavy blood loss from the head.” A paramedic recited as he kept on checking her. Soon, she was rushed on to a stretcher and was carried into the ambulance.
“She might be the victim of the scene or a witness of the scene.” One of the male officer uttered.
“She can also be a possible suspect in it officer.” The female officer spoke out. Suddenly, every small memory came rushing into Roselia’s mind. She remembered how she attacked them, by changing into a….wolf?
Was that what she changed into?
Though, her body wasn’t functioning, her mind was conscious now and she could hear and process everything around her clearly. She figured out with her pounding head, that she was found by the police. And now, she was terrified. She just wanted to run away, how did she end up being in the ambulance, with the police?
“Life just really sucks, ” she thought.
At Alight City Hospital:
“Doctor, how is she?” the chief officer inquired the doctor in charge.
“She hit her head hard. And her body has gone under severe stress, but her condition is stable right now. She might wake up soon,” The doctor replied nonchalantly, expressionless. The officer sighed while rubbing his temples. Too much for peaceful patrol.
The police officers were trying to find her identity by her fingerprints. They were waiting for any news about the girl, who was found unconscious at a murder scene, in which the victims were killed brutally. Almost in a inhumane way. They were all considering the possibilities of Roselia being a victim or a suspect or a witness.
While they were trying to come up with theories, a loud crash heard from the room, in which Roselia was currently resting. The officers jumped up at the sound and rushed in to the room. The scene they saw was chaotic. The nurses were trying to calm down a disheveled Roselia, who was thrashing all the equipment around her. Finally, after what felt like hours, she finally calmed down, seeming to figure out that she was safe.
The chief officer carefully approached her and sat at the stool beside her bed. Roselia met the officer eyes with curiousity and fear filled eyes. She knew what was about to come. The officer heavily sighed, he didn’t wanted to deal this, but he had a job to do. So, he decided to go slowly, to avoid agitation from the patient and save himself from another massive headache.
“Hello, I’m officer Wang. Can I know your name, miss?” he raised an eyebrow, expecting an answer from her. Roselia simply stared at him, without showing any reaction other than blinking. Officer Wang soon became a little uncomfortable under her unreadable gaze and shifted a bit in his seat. He hummed in questioning manner to assert her to speak.
“Roselia Manhattan, ” she spoke, her voice raspy from all the incidents. Wang sighed in relief when she eventually replied.
Roselia POV:
I know they are going to ask me about the incident. What am I supposed to say? That I killed them. They were the vampires who were chasing down to suck me out dry and I suddenly changed into a wolf, which I’m not sure how, and killed all of them in one go. Like they would believe me. No way in the hell, would they even believe it.
The moment I tell them I killed them, no questions would be asked and nobody will listen to my explanation and simply put me under death sentence or mark me as a fool and join me in the hospital. Thats how f**ked up is our law.
They can’t catch the real criminals but, they sure have time to punish the innocent. And by any chance, did they believe me, were they going to announce me innocent? Nah….I will become a dissecting and experimenting subject to them. World is not a good place.
“Miss Manhattan, so… What were doing at that place?” The officer before me asked. This is the question that will change my whole life. I nervously fidget as I weigh my options in my head. There are really not many options reserved for me. Either way, I’m going to die if I tell them.
“I….I..” I start nervously and try to hide my tears. The officer’s expression morphs into one of sympathy.
I take a deep breath and start “I don’t remember. I was being chased by three men and I somehow ended up at the woods, while trying to escape from them. Then….Then…” my breath gets heavy as I remember all that again.
The officer before me panicked a bit and nurse instantly rushed to my side and injected something into my veins. The doctor came in at that very moment and checked up on me. “I’m scared. Someone help me….” I slurred a bit as I was becoming unconscious.
“Doctor, what’s the case.” Officer Wang asked looking at the doctor, expectantly.
“Trauma. She seemed to be seriously affected by the incident. Her body is going under shock, when the memory is triggered. I think the memory will be blurred out.” The doctor explained.
The officer was confused “You mean she forgot about whole incident.”
“More or less. When a patient goes under trauma, this situation often arises. When the sight or anything is very disturbing, the memory is wiped off due to heavy shock.” He tried to explain in normal words, so the officer would understand.
“Well, there goes our investigation.” The female officer said while folding her hands, with a bored expression on her face. The other male officer snickered a bit but, stopped when he saw his senior glare at him.
Wang glared at them. He stepped towards them and spoke in a stern tone “Find her parents”. He quickly left the room rubbing his face, with his subordinates following his suit.
Soon, the doctor and nurses too left the room, to let Roselia rest. Unknown to all of them, Roselia was fully conscious. She faked it. She was a topper of her school. Her vast knowledge and interest in books saved her today from the death. And now she even know she had Oscar winning acting skills.
Her grades were commendable and her intelligence was no joke. She smiled at her thoughts and decided to get much needed rest for her body.
After all, she wasn’t accepted into most reputed and famous school of Alight for nothing. She was going to study at the High Academy.
