Highschool Dxd Fate Unbound - Chapter 4 Path Of A Hero

A week had quickly passed with Griselda teaching Haruto about swordsmanship and in that week Griselda had A much deeper understanding of Haruto.

Griselda: (His talent with weapons is extraordinary but swords are still what He excells in not just that but his memory and comprehension are just as amazing as well, i wonder if he has and affinity with a magical element as well)

Over the course of the week Griselda was even more convinced that Haruto was a natural born warrior and she really wanted him to join the church (under her of course) and become her protege.

But there was one more test left before she can decide to fully support him.

Griselda: Haruto that’s enough practice for now.

Haruto stops His practice and makes His way to Griselda.

Haruto: Alright Sister!

Griselda: Haruto your dream is to become a Hero right?

Harutos cutely nods

Griselda: Do you know Big Sister is very strong and is from a very strong place, if you want Big Sister can take you there and make you strong so you can kill bad demons and monsters.

Griselda said to Haruto with a small smile but Haruto only looked at Griselda in a daze, she though he was suprised by her suggestion and was about to open her mouth to explain further when Haruto finally spoke.

Haruto: Big Sis i think you misunderstood, I don’t want to become one of those blinded Heroes that only take Devils as the bad guys and Humans as Saints.

Griselda’s eyes widened and she curiosly asked.

Griselda: Then what type of Hero Do you want to be Haru.

Haruto gave a cute smile with his eyes blazing with determination and vigor.

Haruto: I want to be a Hero that defeats Evil, there’s good and bad people everywhere i want to be the one to stop those bad people! and bring hope to the ones that have fallen in despair.

Griselda widened her eyes she thought Haruto would want to become a typical fantasy hero but it looks like he gave her another surprise in the form of his intellect. At the age when children only see the good in people Haruto already had knowledge about Good and Bad and wanted to specifically target that “Evil” that was around everyone.

Behind the stunned Griselda was Mary who just arrived and heard Haruto’s declaration, she smiled gently while looking at Haruto.

Mary: (Never let go of that ideal Haruto and one day you will surely become the Hero you want to be)

Mary thinks and couldn’t help but feel pride at her son’s logic.

Griselda: Haru!! thats great! you passed with flying colors! (hugs)

Haruto only has a resigned expression on his face over the week this Hug fiend hasn’t even for a day let him go without suffocating him.

Mary suddenly had another tick mark on the head.

Mary: How many times do i have to tell you…STOP CLINGING TO MY SON!!!

After the normal episode Haruto was again asked seriously to join the church but to be under Griselda’s custody but the suprising thing was this time Mary told him to agree since she knew his talent and dreams she didn’t have the heart to reject them.

Haruto was right now again in his room conversing with his “No-bodied companion”

???: That woman doesn’t have any bad intentions i could feel it perhaps training under her will increase your progress and give you protection.

Haruto: That i know and if there is one thing i found out in this week it’s having a teacher guide you is much better than practicing alone.

Haruto noticed in the week that even though by using the memories he could become strong compared to getting the help from a teacher was going to be much more time consuming.

Haruto: (sigh) Sacred gears really are cheats that give fast improvement as well as instant powers.

???: I already told you compared to the advantages you have many of the gear holders are far behind, not only do you have superb sword talent, you also have Senjutsu that only Youkai could use as well that scabbard inside of you.

Haruto: Haha sorry…i was being a little too greedy.

The artifact that was being talked about was actually the legendary Scabbard of Excalibur when Haruto started his Energy manipulation training he could feel something in the centre of his chest upon further practice he finally knew what it was and the result truly shocked him.

Avalon was the scabbard of Excalibur but he Never saw it in the Dxd anime but he did see it in the Fate series, the scabbard had helped Shirou Emiya very much in his journey healing wounds was a very useful abillity and was one of the reasons why Haruto was above his peers, with it he could exhaust himself but immediately use Avalon to heal the scratches as well as help in Stamina recovery but unfortunately the Scabbard could not heal mental exhaustion.

Haruto thought that perhaps whichever God or Goddess reincarnated him might have given him Avalon as his Gift but even that seemed unlikely, sure Avalon was able to heal wounds but that was it, the scabbard could only be fully utilized when Excalibur was used in conjunction and he doesn’t think that will be possible in this world, since the Excalibur in this world is already shattered.

So why the heck does he even have that! Not that he is complaining but the confusion sometimes is really killing.

???: Are you done with your monologue.

Haruto: Oh sorry, I suddenly thought of something.

???: I Won’t ask of what you were thinking about but you should now sleep tomorrow your Journey will officially start.

Haruto: I know but before that…Do you mind if I ask something again?

???: Yes?

Haruto: I know you Won’t tell me what you are but this is going to be a significant step in my life and i might need to converse with you more, so mind giving me your name?

???: I am sorry, It’s not yet time but there might be a alternative to your predicatment.

Haruto: I know! I can just give you a name!

???: ……..I don’t know what to feel? That you took nearly 7 Years to decide that or That you are casually giving me a name like a Pet?

Haruto: Details, Details so about your name i got just the one, Light!…..Well until you tell me about yourself.

Light: Pretty straightforward?

Haruto: Its the best i can do. (Shrugs)

Next morning all the orphanage’s kids as well as Mary was out, ready to say goodbye to Haruto, even though Haruto didn’t spend much time with them because of his friendly attitude plus his aura everyone had a good impression of him.

Griselda: Is the paperwork ready?

Mary: It’s all here, hope you take good care of Haru.

Griselda nods and looks over the adoption files.

Griselda: Haruto Dremurr?

Griselda was suprised since she was going to give Haruto her surname of “Quarta” but looks like her friend beat her to it.

Mary: Even if you are adopting him I sure as hell Won’t let you take full advantage, so the surname will be mine.

Griselda: Okay I give.

As Griselda admits her defeat, Haruto walks up to Mary and gives her a Big hug.

Haruto: I’ll miss you mom.

Mary: I’ll miss you too Haru but if you want to accomplish your dream you need to go, see the whole world in all it’s glory and be sure to carve your name in it’s history.

Haruto: I promise mom one day I’ll become a Hero that’s respected by the whole world!

Mary: ufufu That’s my little boy. Remember to visit.

Mary kisses Haruto on the forehead and waves goodbye with the rest of the Orphans.

Haruto: I’m ready to go Big Sis.

Haruto gets in the black car and waves back as well, but barely holding back the tears that were threatening to fall out, Seperations were always hard especially with “Family”

Griselda: Uh Uh Its not Big Sis Haruto but….

Griselda looks at Mary from outside the car window and smirks with a mischievous expression, Mary twitches.

Griselda: Mother.

Griselda Then acceleartes and disappears with the car and Haruto leaving a twitching Mary shaking in Anger.

Mary: I KNEW THAT WITCH WAS HERE FOR HARUTO.
