HIS COLD WIFE - Chapter 8:What did you say?
“Who is this?” Anna called out. “Anna!” She heard Christine’s voice. Anna sighed in relief. “You had me scared. We have been searching for you for the past few days. What happened?” She asked. She heard a sigh from the other side. “Our search finally came to an end,” Christine responded. “Did you find them?” Anna asked and got up from her chair.
Damon, who was in the living room playing cards with Annie, frowned. “Give me a second princess.” He told her. Annie nodded and waited obediently.
“What’s wrong?” He asked worriedly. “No…they’re dead,” Christine told her. Anna lost her balance for a second. “But I was sure. I’m never-” Anna was interrupted by Christine. “Wrong? Well, this time you were wrong. It’s fine. We will stay away for a few weeks to cope with it. We will come back, don’t worry.” Christine explained calmly.
She looked towards her brother and they shared a small sad smile. “Honey, what’s wrong?” Damon asked in confusion. Anna rubbed her temple and put the call on speaker. ” My brother, what’s to speak is that okay?” Christine asked. “Yes of course,” Anna responded.
Damon frowned and wrapped his arms around her waist. He laid his head on her shoulder and listened carefully.
“Anna. I just want you to know that we don’t blame you. And we also don’t regret helping you out. Knowing that they are dead is better than not knowing anything about them and going around in circles with false hope. Believe it or not, you really helped us. I’m sure your husband is listening right?” Jack spoke.
Damon gently squeezed her. “I’ll take your silence as a yes,” Jack spoke again. ” Take care of her. I won’t hesitate to come back and get her if you hurt her.” He warned. “Married or not. Kids or not I will take her anyway. If I were you I would appreciate the fact that such an amazing woman picked you. That’s it for now. Goodbye.” He told them and hung up.
Anna stayed silent. Damon rubbed his head closer and took in her scent. ” See if you can. Bastard.” He cursed Jack. Anna sighed and put her hand on his hair. She then gently went through it with her fingers.
“I wouldn’t be afraid of Jack. If you hurt me the one you should be afraid of is me.” Anna told him in a gentle tone as if coaxing him. Damon swallowed. “Ahem. That won’t be necessary.” He told her. Anna chuckled. Once her chuckle died out she sighed.
“I guess I tried. I really tried. Maybe we can’t all get happy endings.” She whispered. Damon looked up at her and kissed her forehead. He pushed a few loose strands of hair behind her ear and kissed her forehead again. “Don’t feel bad. It’s not like you could help it.”
Weeks later,

Kissing Annie’s cheek. Anna smiled. “Goodnight Princess.” She told her. “Goodnight mommy,” Annie replied. Anna was stunned. “W-what did you say?” She asked. “I said goodnight mommy. I love you.” The girl replied and she placed her hand on Anna’s stomach. “Good night Lil bro.” She whispered and kissed her tummy. She then laid down and closed her eyes.
Anna relaxed and kissed her forehead. “Mmm, I love you too sweetie.” She whispered with unshed tears in her eyes. She moved Annie’s hair to the side and gently did circle motions with her finger on the mark on her neck.
A small heart with a string that led all the way from her neck to her shoulders. Soon enough the string would start disappearing slowly and if she doesn’t find her soulmate by the corresponding time then the sitting will disappear and she will die. The same goes for her son. Anna sighed and gave the mark which looked like a tattoo a kiss. “It’s going to be okay because I will be beside both you.” She whispered and her tears finally fell.
She turned off the lamp and closed the bedroom door. Suddenly a pair of arms wrapped around her from behind. She closed her eyes and took Damon’s scent. “Let’s go to sleep It’s late.” She heard him say. Anna nodded and turned around. She placed her palm on his cheek and tiptoed to kiss his lips. He leaned in and gladly kissed her full lips. He supported her by the waist and kissed her harder.
When they were finally out of the air they let go and their foreheads touched. “I love you so much.” He told her. Anna chuckled. “You say that every day now.” She replied. “That’s because I don’t want you to forget.” He told her.
He then leaned in and carried her in his arms. Anna wrapped her arms around his beck and sighed. “You know how much I hate this carrying around thing.” She told him. “Get used to it honey. I will carry you like this on our official wedding day too.” He responded.
Anna bit her lip to suppress her grin. “That’s next week.” She whispered. Damon nodded and opened their bedroom door. “That’s right.” He replied in a husky voice. He closed the door behind them and turned the light lamp on. He laid her on the bed gently and climbed on top of her.
Anna laughed. “You can’t wait?” She asked. Damon smirked. “As if you could…” He replied.
