His Eccentric Wife - Chapter 11 Husband And Wife 2
Xin Qian was sitting in front of the dressing mirror as her friends did her makeup and styled her hair. She let her friends work magic on her while she got lost in the thoughts of what was about to come. Her mind was riddled with both, positive and negative thoughts. The positive ones were obviously about her wedding, her getting to stay by Wang Yong’s side and experiencing the life of a married woman. And then there were those negative thoughts about Wang Yong being surrounded by danger and what if she won’t be able to protect him.
She tried her best to keep the negative thoughts at bay and continued to focus on her upcoming wedding instead. “Should we call an ambulance?” Xin Qian heard Dylan’s voice.
“Stop right there! If you’ll complete the statement then I am going to throw this huge ass make-up box right at your face!” warned Xin Qian making her friends laugh.
“Can I come in?” it was Mr. Zhao (Zhao Wei) at the door.
Xin Qian smiled at her father and stood up to greet him. Though she still hadn’t worn her wedding dress she was still looking gorgeous as a bride. Her face had that glow, her eyes had that spark. “I brought something for you.” said Mr. Zhao passing a small velvet box to Xin Qian.
Xin Qian looked at her father and then at the box, “What’s this?” she asked.
“Something that belonged to your mother.” was all that Mr. Zhao said, he just couldn’t speak another word because of the emotions chocking his throat.
Xin Qian opened the box with extra care and found a pair of diamond earrings, her mother’s favorite and hers as well. These earrings were a gift from her grandfather to her mother on her wedding and her mother had promised that she will pass this to Xin Qian on her wedding day.
Xin Qian’s eyes grew misty as she looked at the earrings in her hand. Arianna came forward and made Xin Qian wear the earrings, “This will be perfect for the dress that you are gonna wear.” she said softly as she gently wiped the tears off Xin Qian’s cheeks.
“Now don’t cry otherwise you’ll mess up your make-up!” complained Abigail.
Mr. Zhao hugged his daughter tight, “Your mother would be so proud of the woman you have become.” he praised. For the moment Xin Qian’s friends left the room so that the father and daughter duo could have their moment.

A Few Hours Later
Dressed in black trousers, a white shirt, a black bowtie, and a black jacket over it Wang Yong was looking extremely handsome as he waited for his bride to arrive. He was wearing the tux outfit that Xin Qian had designed for him along the Cinderella shoe brooch and the Cinderella-themed wristwatch that she had told him about. He liked the peaceful setting in which they were about to wed now, it was intimate and personal. The guest list was restricted to close friends and family, that is why there were only about 50 people present. Wang Yong could actually feel the butterflies fluttering inside, what is this feeling? he thought to himself.
All his thoughts vanished away when the doors of the church opened and walked in the bridesmaids, Xin Qian’s three best friends Abigail, Arianna, and Regina (The bridesmaid dresses- https://i.imgur.com/dRfJsem.jpg). As the three came to stand at a side, Wang Yong’s eyes then fell over the breathtaking sight that Xin Qian was.
She was dressed in a light blue off-shoulder wedding gown that had white flowers threaded all over the skirt. She wasn’t wearing a veil, her hair was left open in smooth curls. (See what Xin Qian is wearing – https://i.imgur.com/j3s7RSZ.jpg)
Xin Qian was looking so beautiful that he just couldn’t take his eyes off her. With slow steps she walked towards him, every step making his heart race. How could someone look so ethereal, so serene?! Xin Qian was not only admired by Wang Yong but the others present around them as well.
While Zhao Wei got teary-eyed seeing his daughter dressed so beautifully, Li Qiang, on the other hand, was cursing himself for his fate. It was all Yu Yan’s fault for calling Xin Qian in that hotel room without any prior information. Had he been aware of what Yu Yan was up-to he would have cajoled her into not to do what she did. His plan had been going so smoothly but he had to change it because of the mess that Yu Yan created. Had that not happened, then Li Qiang might have been the one who would be marrying this gorgeous woman.
Yu Yan was looking at Xin Qian with mixed emotions. She was surprised to see Xin Qian’s wedding dress which she knew Xin Qian had designed herself. It was so much better than the one that she was going to wear for her wedding. Yu Yan was feeling insecure as well, as she noticed how Li Qiang was looking at Xin Qian but mostly she was feeling jealous. Jealous because Xin Qian had everything that she never did.
Xin Qian came to stand in front of Wang Yong as the priest began the ceremony.
“Friends and Family of the Bride and Groom, welcome and thank you for being here on this important day. We are gathered together to celebrate the very special love between Zhao Xin Qian and Wang Yong, by joining them in marriage.” the priest smiled at the couple.
“Marriage will allow you a new environment to share your lives together, standing together to face life and the world, hand-in-hand. Marriage is going to expand you as individuals, define you as a couple, and deepen your love for one another. To be successful, you will need strength, courage, patience and a really good sense of humor. So, let your marriage be a time of waking each morning and falling in love with each other all over again.”
“Say your vows.” the priest said softly.
Wang Yong took a deep breath, holding Xin Qian’s hands in his, he began, “Zhao Xin Qian, I haven’t met a person like you ever. Kind, caring, warm-hearted, straightforward and always finding something good and nice everywhere. These are just a few adjectives that define the enigma that you are. There is so much to you that can’t be described by words. I am thankful to God, for he was nice enough to send you in my life. I am grateful towards your friends and family who made up the woman you are today. I am thankful to you as well for accepting me as I am.” Wang Yong smiled and paused for a few seconds before continuing.
“I won’t make a promise of happily ever after because life is never that easy, but I promise to be by your side in every situation. We will face every problem together and I will do my best to keep you from harm. I promise to never make you cry, neither will I let others make you shed tears. From now on you will be the only woman in my life, no other could ever take your place. I promise to abide by all my promises to you.” finished Wang Yong.
His words had a deep impact on everybody, especially Xin Qian who was too close to crying. “Since the day I met you, I knew you were a special man. Our first meeting wasn’t something that I would call an epic but it was something that I would cherish throughout my life. We looked at each other and a connection was formed. Getting married to you was one of the best choices that I have made so far. I am not trying to flatter but it is actually true when I say that you are different from others and very special to me. I am a person for whom bonding with people over a few meetings is hard but you are an exception.” Xin Qian bit her lip while Wang Yong chuckled slightly.
“We met just a few days ago and here we are today, getting married. And the thought makes me so much happy that I can’t even describe it because an adjective or a number can’t measure the happiness that I am feeling right now. I am happy that I am getting married to you, that you are going to be my husband. Though I should warn you about how possessive I can be. I hope you are ready for me, ready to deal with a person like me and spend your life with me. I promise you that won’t even leave your side, will always trust you and believe in what you say. You will be my first priority from now on, I promise to cherish you and care for you with all my heart.”
People around them cheered as Xin Qian finished saying her vows. But it was Xin Qian’s friends who were trying to control their laughter as the heard and understood the underlying threat in Xin Qian’s vows.
“I am imagining Wang Yong tied to the hospital bed, conscious, as I will get to operate on his baby-making organs.” Abigail whispered to Regina and Arianna. The girls were still standing on the side while the boys were sitting in the first row.
“Hehe, that will turn out to be true in case Wang Yong decided to cheat on Qi Qi.” chuckled Arianna.
“Look at how much happy he is looking. Poor guy doesn’t realize that he’s being threatened.” Regina snorted.
“I declare you husband and wife. You may now kiss the bride.” the three friends paused their conversation as they heard the announcement made by the priest.
Xin Qian and Wang Yong shared an eye-lock before Xin Qian bent slightly and placed her lips over Wang Yong’s. They stayed like that for a few seconds, their lips fused together in a simple and soft kiss, just the brush of lips.
“Hello, husband.” Xin Qian smiled breaking the kiss.
“Hello, wife.” Wang Yong gave a smile of his own as well.
****************
Yu Yan was standing alone as she stared at Xin Qian from afar. Li Qiang had left the moment the wedding ceremony ended and once again she was left alone. Yu Yan couldn’t help but feel jealous as she saw Xin Qian being hugged by their father. She wanted something like that for herself as well. She wanted in-laws who would accept her as Xin Qian’s did, she wanted best friends like Xin Qian’s. But she had none.
People thought that she had everything and if she didn’t then she will get it by hook or crook. They saw the beautiful and cunning woman who slept with her sister’s ex-fiance but nobody could actually see the little girl who was chubby, had braces and wore large glasses because of her weak eye-sight. Nobody could actually see that she was hurting as well, that she wasn’t in a better position as they thought her to be.
Without saying anything, without even waiting for the bouquet ceremony, Yu Yan left the place because she knew nobody with actually notice her absence. Nobody ever did.
****************
Xin Qian was standing in the garden behind the church, a bit far from the group of ladies and at an elevated platform, she had her back facing them as she prepared herself for the bouquet tossing ceremony. Her friends Regina and Arianna were also standing in the group but Abigail was not there because she wasn’t ready to marry yet and thought this particular tradition was meant more for fun, she just didn’t want to even think about it. Xin Qian tossed the bouquet backward and turned around the moment he heard everybody cheering.
The sight was an unexpected one. Xin Qian had thought that Arianna might be the one to catch the bouquet but the bouquet was caught by Abigail instead. “Huh?! That doesn’t mean a thing! I wasn’t even trying to catch the bouquet!” she exclaimed.
“Ohh! You weren’t actually trying but you actually caught it?!” teased Dylan.
“This is called fate, my dear friend, fate.” added Julian.
“You are being childish now.” Abigail rolled her eyes.
“Ooooo!” Li Y Feng hooted, “It’s the truth Abby! You weren’t trying to catch the bouquet but it flew over these women and fell directly into your hands! You can’t escape the clutches of fate sweetheart.” Li Yi Feng laughed at Abigail teasingly.
“This is just a game!” this is exactly why Abigail didn’t want to catch the bouquet. Now she would be mercilessly teased by her friends, she didn’t even have a serious boyfriend for God’s sake!
“Come on guys! It’s time for the party!” Wang Jiang (Wang Yong’s younger brother/stepbrother) yelled out enthusiastically as the attendants began guiding them towards the party hall which was at walking distance from the church.
“Oh! Abby, I forgot to tell you that I will be the one designing your dress, okay?! Qi Qi might be busy as she is married now but I will be there. I am your sister after-all, it’s my birthright!” Arianna blabbed away and ran as fast as she could in her heels because she was aware that Abigail might explode any second.
“I am not going to get married!” Abigail yelled out making everybody laugh as they walked towards the party hall.
In all this what everybody failed to notice was the man standing a bit far away. Who let out a smirk seeing Abigail’s reaction before sitting in his car and driving away.
