-Other than that? Any gifts?
The mage spoke ignoring Eva’s worries as if he was being chased by someone.
She heard static noises once in a while so she assumed he was traveling somewhere.
“Um….We had some girl talk the other day, and she said she likes rough guys. Aren’t the men in Cartul like that…..”
-………
She was trying to say ‘you are not her type’ indirectly.
Maximilien was in fact aware of her intentions.
He never thought himself as ugly but he knew that he was more of a delicate looking man than a rough looking man.
It would be Karl that fit Brigitta’s type. He wished he could change bodies.
Maximilien decided to study the Soul Switch spell to acquire the face his lover would like.
If Karlos heard it he would be crying out for his irrelevance in their relationship.
-…….Other than that!
“Hmmmmmm, She is good at house chores?”
-Not that too!
“I, I can’t think of any! How do I find out everything about her in a week!”
She wasn’t lying, she truly didn’t know.
There was nothing to tell him except her detailed personal information.
And Eva wasn’t going to tell him those personal information so the only remaining information was how she is like in daily life but that didn’t seem like what this mage wanted to know.
Brigitta was the type of person who didn’t have wants and plus, she was a swordmaster. What else could she want?
-Damn it! I will be back in two weeks so give me something by then!
“Eh? You can’t contact me from there?”
-I am an outstanding mage but I can’t change the almighty principles. The range to use that ring for communication is only two cities.
That was still impressive but anyway it meant that she would be free from him for around 2 weeks.
Eva danced the victory dance and shuffled.
If anyone saw her waving her arms on the air, they would think she went mad from all the stress. But fortunately, the curtains were closed and she was alone in the room.
“Aha. Then have a safe trip~”
-You seem excited?
“No, no”
‘Hell yea I’m excited.’
Eva’s continued dancing.

Eva danced the dance of victory and the dance of relief. Then when she heard the doorbell ring, she fixed her hair and went downstairs.
She was holding her freshly done draft in her hand, thinking the visitor was the editor who was supposed to come for the draft.
Her current editor was already aware how raggy Eva becomes when she is revising her manuscript so Eva unhesistantly opened the door despite looking messy.
“AHhh.”
And closed the door right after.
It was a man at the door not her editor.
She usually never ran across men besides the publishing company’s employees but she was seeing so many of them nowadays.
Eva quickly tied her hair and fixed her shawl. She washed her face with the shawl too.
This roughly took a minute.
Her famous agility when she was a maid was not dead yet.
“Ah……..Hello…….”
When she opened the door again, the man looked down at her with bewildered eyes.
The man was wearing a hat and glasses and had his dark brown hair tied neatly into one. His age range looked like the 20s to mid 30s.
No matter how hard she looked, he didn’t have the impatience of an editor that’s waiting for a manuscript so held the door closely and was wary of him.
“Are you Miss Evangeline of the Terrier Rd. 3rd street house number 622?”
“Y, Yea…… It’s me.”
“I came to check up on you because there was a report that there was someone suspicious circling this area.”
He respectfully and precisely delivered the message and gave her a business card.
Eva thought he had such a nice voice.
He had a low yet gentle voice and his pronunciation was on point like an actor’s. Plus, compared to the other people she met recently, their first meeting was normal.
She was actually relieved that he visited for a valid reason.
“I am Detective Glenn from the Kingdom’s Metropolitan Police Department. Please Excuse me.”
“Uh, uh…. The, the police department? Wha?”
“The person that was loitering around your home about a week ago is the person our department is paying close attention to. So I just wanted to ask a few questions.”
Eva then realized that it has been a week since she first met the mage.
Eva awkwardly smiled and opened the door.
“I don’t know much but……If that’s still fine……”
“Thank you for your cooperation.”
Glenn Holtzman bowed once again like the perfect example of a respectful bow.

What was his appearance, when did you see him, what happened, have you seen him before, were there any destroyed properties.
His way of speaking and neat appearance perfectly imposed an investigation. After about 10 minutes of scribbling something down on the note and asking questions, the neat gentleman frowned a little and talked to her.
“It does seem like the person we are looking for. That must have been tough. He is the worst bulldozer there is.”
“Ummmm.”
“Mages are excluded from the city laws so unless they commit murder, most of their crimes are handled in the Mage Tower. And the Mage of Tower is beyond our government’s control and influence. They are hard to deal with but we can still bother them with investigations. What kind of trouble were you involved in Miss Evangeline?”
The detective named Glenn spoke gently with a stern posture.
She didn’t know investigations were still permitted.
She just thought mages were free under any law. She thought to herself that she just got a good story element.
Eva frowned and thought.
‘There was trouble but can this be dealt with?’
According to the detective, this mage was almost an outlaw. Stalking was not a crime equivalent to murder and plus there were damage done except him being annoying.
“He’s a stalker.”
Glenn’s face slightly changed.
‘Why does he look like he’s about to smile?’
It was a little strange but she continued anyway.
“Uh, I recently got a new roommate and I think this person is stalking her…….C, can anything be done? He threatened me and bribed me with things like this to cooperate with him.”
Eva pulled out the ring and Glenn’s eyes widened.
“Whoa.”
He stroked his chin and looked at the ring and at Eva interchangeably.
This ring she just pulled out was a rare artifact. The communication feature was just a minor feature.
This was to be used to summon the other person by breaking the jewel, it was a defensive artifact that could be used to summon anywhere no matter the circumstance if only the user knew how to break it in the correct order.
The Duke would have thought it has some sort of communication device and this lady accepted it without even knowing what it is. But Glenn knew.
He knew very well how to use the artifact.
“Miss Evangeline. I have a favor to ask.”
“Yes?”
“This ring, it seems like it has some sort of communication feature to it. We want to investigate him properly. It may be tiresome but could you tolerate him for a while?”
“Whhaat?”
He blurredly smiled.
According to the Emperor, Glenn knew exactly how to move his facial muscles to most effectively influence the other person.
“This investigation is very important to me…….I have been through alot because of him.”
Eva was surprised at his words.
A novel was just passing by in her head.
She thought to herself that maybe a mystery novel would be nice for the next book.
“It is not mandatory. It’s just that there’s no other way at the moment so I was thinking of filing a restraining order when we get something we can use. Of course, that’s only if Miss Evangeline is okay with that.
“Uh, Umm, Yea, well….I’ll do it…….He’s not that much of a big trouble anyway and if I can be a help in the investigation….”
“Thank you. Then if there is any contact from him please send a letter to the address on the business card. “
Glenn placed his hands on his chest and bowed once again.
It was really like the example pictures of the perfect bow in those manner books.
Eva clumsily bowed as well.
Her bow was more like a bent old woman than a respectful bow but Glenn didn’t laugh at her.
“Ah, and.”
Before Glenn was about to step out, he contemplated for a while then looked back to Eva and spoke.
“Miss Evangeline, Are you home most of the time?”
“Yea? Yea.”
“Then I think it’s best for you to lock your doors.”
He knocked on the hard wooden door.
“It’s a wooden door so it won’t cost much to put locks. You don’t want strangers coming in. Safety comes first.”
His black Eastern eyes curved.
“Then.” He disappeared after nodding slightly with his hat before Eva could even close the doors.
