Brigitta’s face altered after understanding what Eva said, a little later than the emperor.
Karlos glanced at her side profile.
Her face had distorted vigorously with frustration, perplexity, and irritation creating an expression on her face that was quite amusing.
“Uh, what are they so displeased about? And this is outrageous. To be precise, I’m Genovian not Holkan. These two are cleanly, no, clearly different!”
“It’s definitely unfair against you. But in Lesa many people view the two similarly….”
“Uh, there are many that do not know that the two groups are different. They think the tribe Holka and the country Holka are the same thing. As long as you are under the name Holka as a nation, they just consider you Holkan…”
“Wow, this just crosses the line. How could they think Genovians are like those barbaric idiots?! We are not like those bastards. We are way more composed than they are! Anyone can see that.”
Karlos almost told her that her tribe was the most violent people he had ever fought but he desperately held it on the tip of his tongue.
This wasn’t the most important thing right now.
He pushed the sweet cocoa drink towards her direction.
She poured the drink down her throat as if the cocoa was black beer and set the empty cup on the table with a bang.
“Well, as I said there is no evidence. The police will deal with that part; it’s not our job to find them. But I still think you should be careful for a while. If you get wound up in this you will be dragged into all sorts of pesky stuff even when the whole world knows you are innocent.”
She was the famous ‘Holkan’ swordmaster that had stirred up the entire capital after all. Plus, she had already been involved in a case before.
Eva rubbed Brigitta’s hands with a concerned face.
It looked as though she was consoling an upset child. However, unfortunately, that didn’t work and Brigitta gritted her teeth aggressively–which made the eavesdropping Eric and Amber become terrified–as Karlos patted her shoulders.
It must have been a strange sight: a scary-looking man and a fragile-looking woman comforting a handsome person.
But after being comforted by the two, Brigitta parted her lips and said, “No need to worry, Eva. If those stupid leeches try me one more time I’ll…”
“I’ll take good care of this pal, Eva.”
Karlos faced Eva and declared promisingly.

Baron Sez placed her hands on her forehead. Her whitened hair were covering her eye patch.
“Who is here again?”
Her low, hoarse voice resonated intimidatingly.
She had once been a pirate who handled everything successfully with her fist but after the passing of some years, her body had weakened.
Nevertheless, her aggressive character hadn’t changed a single bit and she could easily make a young man twice her size yield to her.
The manager of the top floor of the opera house sweated profusely and tried his best not to meet eyes with her.
“Jose Villiore and Sancho Ducam….”
“You think I’m talking about those fetuses who just debuted into society? You think I, Patricia Sez, should remember the names of those useless pricks?”
“O-Of course not, my lord.”
“Again. Who’s here?”
The manager was always confident and was never looked down on by anyone but he still had to yield to the person who was paying him.
And if that boss was the famous investor of the dark market Patricia Sez, anyone would fall to their knees with absolute submission.
The man placed his hands on his stomach and answered.
“So, you’re not asking about the young people who are here to gamble?”
“Don’t make me repeat myself.”
He shut his eyes.
He really didn’t want to say it out loud but if he stalled any longer, Baron Sez would aim for his neck.
She surely wasn’t a sorcerer yet he could swear he saw blue flames from her eyes. One more wrong move and it seemed like her eyes would burn him to death.
“……Alex Holtzmann is here……”
Crack.
The expensive quill in her hand broke into pieces.
‘One-eyed Patricia’ curled her lips.

For a long while, Brigitta continued to grumble saying things like ‘Don’t treat us like them’ and ‘We hate them too’ as she devoured the desserts on the table. Then, when there were no more desserts left, she sprinted to the cashier at the speed of light.
Eva looked at Brigitta with concern.
The bell hadn’t rung yet so it must have been that the desserts were still being prepared. She sent a bit of condolences to the staff that would have to deal with the ‘hangry’ swordmaster.
“She should be careful… Bri is too naive.”
“I’ll do my best. You don’t have to worry.”
Karlos made a fist and reassured Eva once again. Eva stared at him then laid on the table with a long sigh.
When she wrote novels, all the sword master characters she created were all-rounded.
Though, their remarkable cunningness and intelligence contrasted with the setting that they only trained in the woods their whole life.
When there was a trap, they wouldn’t fall for it and would instead trick the opponent back and be reliable for the female lead.
But reality was different.
The sword master Eva met in real life was very skilled in cooking and enjoyed doing house chores. Also, she was handsome to the point she drew everyone’s attention. All these were exactly like a character from romance novels.
However, on the other hand, the sword master was not fluent in all languages, was very naive, and was quite simple-witted.
Her duties couldn’t be described in a few sentences like in the novels either.
There were several times when Eva saw Brigitta slouched on the couch grumpy that her documents had been sent back.
In fact, Eva relied more on Karl for these types of trivial and realistic things than the all-so-mighty sword master even though she didn’t even know Karl that much-she had believed in a stereotype that spies would have evil intentions.
“Eva?”
Eva looked at him with a little regret and guilt.
Her 8-year-long fan was worried about her.
Ah, I should have studied more. I didn’t think there would be kind people like this in that field… And described them so badly in my novels…
She remembered how even the publishing supervisor had asked her to soften the impact of her descriptions and that added on more to her guilt.
Obviously, Karlos didn’t know she was recalling things about all of her previous novels so he made a guess about why she was acting this way.
“Bri is really naive but there is not one person who would dare treat her any less than she should be. So, relax. If you’re still concerned, I’ll tell you how things are going on for a few days.”
He placed his hands on his chest and spoke like a knight reciting an oath.
Eva looked at him, still laying down on the table and burst into laughter.
“Ahahah.”
His guess was totally wrong.
But Eva was actually a little worried about Brigitta having to deal with difficulties at work so she grinned.
Karlos also loosened up from her bright and high-pitched voice.
I don’t know why but it seems like she feels a little better now. That’s a relief.
He clenched the leather bag in his hands and felt the book inside.
Eva saw him unconsciously clenching his bag and worried if it would tear.
She stuttered for the first time in a while and spoke.
“Actuallyyy I don’t really worry about the people in the palace… It’s just, uh, I um messed with the Morning of Glory papers recently and… Um, uh, maybe weird people could visit Brigitta and try to mess with her or something…”
“What?”
His beautiful violet eyes became enlarged. His lips also had parted a little, revealing his neatly organized teeth.
Eva looked away and avoided his eyes that were full of horror.
After being completely blown away by this kind, amazing, wise, and talented–who deserves way more of these compliments–author that did such a dangerous thing, Karlos finally managed to bring himself together.
The muscles around his eyes twitched as he looked at Brigitta still talking to the staff and back at Eva.
