Hold My Hand Dont Let Me Go - Chapter 13
One woman with a pretty face but solemn expression sits at the edge of the highest building of the Zhou Enterprise.
Her feet dangles at the dangerous height but there’s no fear that can be seen in her eyes. Instead, she looks tired, weak and done. Far from who she used to be.
“Amusingly, one’s life is like a wheel. One time, you’ll be at the top and soon you’ll be at the bottom. It’s a repeated cycle.” Samantha mutters as the harsh wind slaps her face that has already been frozen cold.
She heaves out a deep sight before she turns her head and stares at the woman sitting beside her. The said woman has a face and body that is completely identical to hers. It was as if she was gazing at a mirror.
“Don’t you regret loving Jonathan? Wouldn’t your life have been better if you just killed all your feelings for him the moment he said he hated you?” the woman frankly asked with a nod, satisfied with the question she let out. This same question that probably all the readers and viewers wanted to ask Samantha if they we’re given a chance.
With expectations, the woman waited for Samantha’s answer. Hoping that she could see how the strong facade that the Samantha of the novel always wore, breaks down. But soon enough, she got disappointed; Because instead of seeing her eyes close in defeat, Samantha utters the most painful smile the woman has ever seen.
“Yeah, that would have been better right? A woman such as myself could have found a better man who would only have me in his heart. If only I didn’t stubbornly chase after Nathan, I would probably still have my old comfortable life But strangely, I don’t regret loving him. I don’t regret that he was the man I married.” Samantha said with sincerity. Then, before she could follow up her words, tears have started to well up in her eyes.
“The only thing I regretted is not being able to see him smile before I die. That the last image I saw of him is his cold eyes looking at me as if I was the most disgusting person he has ever encountered.” Samantha then once again stares deeply at the woman’s eyes while her hands held hers tightly. “The only thing I wish before I let this body go. Please, don’t be like me. And I’m sorry for giving you a heart that’s defective. That heart is still broken and can only love one man. But if someday, that heart can learn to love itself; I’m sure it would no longer break every time he leaves. Again, I’m sorry.” Samantha said before her hold on the woman hands loosen.
She then stood up and took a step towards the air. The woman tried to reach out to Samantha, but it was already too late; before she could even reach her hands, she has already awakened from her slumber.
