Samantha Zhou and Jonathan Quan first met when they we’re only ten years old. Right when they first met, they easily became close. Samantha would always rely on Jonathan and Jonathan loves the feeling of being like a knight. They are each other’s first love.
They got engaged when Samantha turns sixteen, while Jonathan was eighteen. Their parents took their closeness as a chance to expand their businesses. It was agreed that they would get married once Samantha turns twenty-one.
But, an opportunity was given her.
Ever since she was a kid, Samantha dreamed to star at a huge play in Broadway and be recognized for her skills, not for her status as a child of her rich and powerful parents. So, since she was a kid, she took lessons for singing, dancing and acting. She worked her hardest until she was given a huge role in her debut stage.
Coincidentally, a famous director in Broadway was on a vacation to China when he fortunately got to watch and loved her performance. He offered her a chance to be in one of his plays in Broadway. He said that her role would be small at first, but if she continuous her outstanding act, it wouldn’t be impossible for her to play a leading role in one of his plays.
Samantha immediately wants to grab his offer, but there’s a catch. For five years, she must devote herself to acting.
She has to live in New York, no dating, no social media, she can only call her family or friends after she finished her routine rehearsals, she can’t go out to play nor can she go home to China.
For five years, she must be the Samantha Zhou who only has acting in her life.
Of course, Samantha hesitated at first and couldn’t answer the director immediately. So, he gave her a week to think it over.
In the end, She couldn’t let this huge opportunity slip by.
Samantha left Jonathan without telling him the real reason why. She knows that Jonathan would persistently visits her in New York although he knows that they couldn’t be together. She knows that he would be her biggest temptation. So, she can only tell him to wait for her for 5 years
“I’ll surely come back when I turn twenty-one to marry you Nathan. I promise.”
And although her parents were against her decision, she still took the flight to New York to achieve her dreams.
Then, many things happened, and five years passed her by in a breeze.
She finally got to play the lead role in one of the biggest productions in Broadway. She became famous for the roles she played and achieved her dreams at twenty-one. Finally having no regrets, Samantha returns to China to explain everything to Jonathan and to fulfill her long time promise to him. But when she returns, it was already too late
