Hold My Hand Dont Let Me Go - Chapter 23
Samantha took her time in changing in her pajamas. She took her make-up off, hopped on the shower and put the necessary skin care products on her face. She did not move in a hurry and just spent her sweet time doing what she has to do.
It was already pass dinner when she finished her stuffs and strutted down the hallway to her office where Jonathan is waiting.
Inside, she’s expected to see him annoyed for making him wait long. However, contrary to what she anticipated, he’s just calmly reading a book with a still warm tea beside him.
When he noticed her presence, Jonathan put down the book that he’s reading and professionally stared at her. He’s obviously only there to discuss an important matter, that might make the original Samantha to throw a huge fit. But the Samantha in front of him right now, didn’t even think twice and sat at the sofa in front of him. Also, composedly staring at him, as if they’re in a business meeting.
Jonathan had a lot of things that he wanted to discuss with Samantha, but now that they are finally talking, he remembers the what he saw last night and contemplated on how he should tell his intentions to her.
However, seeing Jonathan looking as if he’s in a bind, Samantha decided to say what he obviously wanted to discuss.
“You want a divorce” she said with no doubt, but saying it with her own mouth made her heart hurt a bit.
“Yes.” he said, an answer that is expected “I’m sorry, I just can’t do this. I can’t stay married with you and I can’t keep hurting Yasmin. I love her so much.” Jonathan insensitively narrated, not even thinking about how Samantha would feel.
She took a deep breath while trying to contain the pain she’s feeling in her chest.
“I’m afraid I can’t do that, I can’t divorce you Jonathan.” Samantha stated.
Hearing this, made Jonathan pissed. He wanted to be nice to her, at least to save the years of their friendship and to go back to what they were before they became lovers. However, Samantha’s words proved that her selfishness is still what’s more important to her.
“Why not? Why do you keep doing this? Why are you so selfish?” Jonathan said, every words he said with contempt.
The disgust in his voice made Samantha chuckle in disbelief.
“Selfish? Are you sure I’m the one that’s being selfish here? Jonathan… Have you even thought about what would happen to me if we divorce two days after our wedding?”
