I, a Radiant Paladin, Was Embraced by a Vampire Queen! - Chapter 39
After flying in the air for about ten minutes, Laite·Bellman gradually flew towards a mountain.
Gradually, the sword landed steadily on the ground of a forest.
Laite·Bellman stepped on the ground before letting Harlen down.
After Harlen touched solid ground, he leaned against a tree and looked around quietly.
While they were in mid air, he had already observed the surroundings. Other than the huge trees, there were no signs of life. This should be considered an earthly paradise.
“Where are we going?”
He asked Laite·Bellman.
“To where you belong.”
As he spoke, Laite·Bellman waved his hand in the direction of a weed patch.
In an instant, a dark red halo appeared in the air.
“Let’s go.”
He retracted his sword from the ground and held Harlen’s hand as they walked into the circle of light, disappearing into the mountains.
After a while, the circle of light reopened, and both of them stepped out.
The moment Harlen stepped out of the circle of light, he instantly sensed the presence of several vampires with weak auras nearby.
Harlen’s normally calm heart was now on alert.
He also began to raise his awareness towards Laite·Bellman beside him.
Harlen’s mind whirred.
Why would Laite·Bellman bring him to a place with vampires?
He was clearly a powerful Paladin, so it was impossible for him not to notice that there were Vampires around.
Was he in contact with the vampires? Or did he have a deal with them?
Harlen kept an eye on his surroundings as he followed the latter to walk forward.
“Don’t be nervous.”
“You might not be used to it since it’s your first time here. You’ll be fine after living for a while.”
Laite·Bellman walked towards the light ahead of the dense forest. As the light grew brighter the closer they were to the exit.
Within moments, both of them walked out of the long forest tunnel and into an open space.
On this open space sat an old but refurbished castle. In the area in front of the castle, there were a few uncles playing with the children.
The moment he saw the uncles and the children, Harlen realized that they were the vampires he had sensed earlier.
The two of them slowly walked towards the castle, with Laite·Bellman leading the way.
The men in the clearing in front of the castle ran over when they saw that Laite·Bellman had returned.
“Brother Laite, you’re back. Where’s my candied hawthorn? Give it to me.”
A little girl standing at the front reached out her hands while looking up at his face expectantly.
Looking at the little girl’s expectant face, Laite·Bellman immediately felt an ominous sign coming… Because he had forgotten to buy the candied hawthorn.
Seeing him stutter then say nothing, the little girl seemed to sense that her brother had forgotten to buy her the candy. Then…
“Wu Ah Ah Ah ~ ~ ~”
“Brother Laite is a liar. He promised to bring me some candy! Brother Laite is a liar!”
Everyone watched as the little girl sat down on the ground and started bawling her eyes out.
“Xiao Ya, don’t cry. Sir Laite had to go out to settle official matters. If he has forgotten, so be it. We’ll buy them next time.”
An uncle behind Xiao Ya squatted down and comforted the bawling girl.
The girl was also very sensible for her age. After hearing what the uncle said, she was very obedient and stopped wailing.
Although she didn’t cry anymore, Xiao Ya puffed up her cheeks and stared at Laite·Bellman with her teary eyes. Her resentment towards not being able to eat delicious food was transmitted from her tears to the culprit’s entire body.
Then, the uncle who was squatting to comfort Xiao Ya carried her in his arms as he stood up.
The man stroked the back of Xiao Ya’s head as she lay on his shoulder with her cheeks still puffed up and her face full of resentment.
“How is it, Sir Laite? Is everything settled?”
Laite·Bellman revealed an affable expression as he turned his attention to the uncle..
“It’s all settled. I’ve also brought back a vampire. From now on, you have to take care of him and let him familiarize himself with his surroundings.”
Laite·Bellman spoke as he pushed Harlen out towards them.
He had discovered Harlen’s vampire identity from the beginning, but he hadn’t revealed the latter’s identity to passersby or the knights. He had accompanied Harlen in his acting until the end.
“The vampire scent on this young man is very weak. It must have been a long time since he last replenished his blood. Bring him to the room first and get him some blood bags to replenish his blood. I’ll change my clothes first and come later.”
Perhaps it was because the black hat on Harlen’s head, transformed from the shape memory cloak of Queen Bella, which was suppressing Harlen’s vampire aura. This resulted in Laite having a mistaken impression that the latter’s vampire aura was weak.
Fortunately, Laite only thought of him as an ordinary vampire who hadn’t been replenishing his blood for a long time and hadn’t found any other information. Otherwise, Harlen would have killed him on the spot.
“Very well, Sir Laite.”
“Follow me.”
One of the men took Harlen by the hand and led him into the castle. Harlen looked back as they separated from Laite·Bellman.
Harlen then followed the man to a large room nearly four meters high. On the ceiling hung a flower petal-shaped chandelier that glowed a warm white light.
There were three large sofas near the wall of the room, and on the wall opposite the sofa was a large television.
On both sides of the wall, there was a three-meter wide refrigerator and a three-meter wide and tall cabinet respectively. The cabinets were filled with bags of chips, fries, biscuits, spicy bars, lollipops, and so on. It looked like a snack cabinet.
The man motioned for Harlen to sit on the couch and rest.
Following which, the uncle took out a few blood bags specially made for vampires from the fridge and passed them to Harlen. He indicated for him to drink them to replenish his blood.
Harlen took the blood bag and gave the uncle a nod of thanks. Then, with practiced ease, he turned the lid and began to slowly drink the blood. Harlen slowly savored this process as he sucked out the blood. It was something that all vampires found enjoyable, not just Harlen himself.
Just as Harlen was enjoying his blood, the door to the house was slowly pushed open. From outside the house came a bright young man in a short-sleeved shirt, pants, and blue slippers.
“Oh, so you’re here. Nothing, it’s fine. Sit down and continue drinking.”
Harlen, who had been about to get up, was pressed back by this bright looking youth before him.
Then, the youth threw his slippers on the floor and sat on the sofa with his legs crossed. He opened the drawer of the coffee table, took out the remote control, and pressed it in the direction of the television. After which, the youth signalled to the uncle to let him know it was okay to leave.
The uncle then bowed his head to both of them before withdrawing from the room and closing the door.
Harlen drank from his blood bag as he focused on the youth before him.
“May I know who you are?”
Harlen couldn’t help asking.
“Me? I’m Laite, Laite·Bellman. Did you forget that so soon?”
Harlen nearly choked on the blood that he was drinking. He coughed for a long time.
The bright youth in front of him was actually the cold-hearted Laite·Bellman in the bar?!!
With his physique, how did he manage to support that thick armor?
With the same physique, how did he pick up such a huge greatsword in one hand?
At this moment, Harlen had countless questions he wanted to ask this teenage version of Laite·Bellman, who was currently patting his back to help ease his coughing fit.
“Do you find it strange?”
“In front of those passersby and knight guards, I was cold and expressionless, but in the castle, I like to smile so much?”
Laite·Bellman answered Harlen’s thoughts.
“Actually, I have social anxiety disorder. I don’t pretend to be aloof when I’m outside, but it’s just that I can’t speak in front of the crowd. Even when I speak, I stammer.”
Laite·Bellman started to answer his own question.
Harlen, who was choking and coughing madly, was gradually getting better. He looked up at Laite·Bellman and asked the question he’d been wanting to ask but hadn’t had a chance to.
“How did you find out I was a vampire?”
Seeing that Harlen had finally asked the question he had been waiting for, he turned to Harlen with a smile. “Because I’m also a vampire.”
“Except that I’m a half-breed.”
“I’m the result of a union between a Paladin and a Vampire, a half-Saint and half-Demon..”
