I Am Legend - 44 Encounter
The team began marching from Tango Forest that early in the morning. The team was led by Ryth, Azalea and Lady Elsa. It was a quiet walk through the mountain path, heading towards Griefendell mountain. Although, there was another path but due to its small path, they had to forego that option.
While they were walking, Ryth was having a small chatter with the other elves in the team. They talked about the mapping of Griefendell mountain; like how to go through the thorny area, the small bumps along the path and so on. As they were talking and walking, they did not realize that it was getting closer to late afternoon. Hence, they decided to find a good place to set up camp.
They finally found the perfect place, which was a few feet away from a lake. But it was still good enough.
A few minutes later, Ryth was done setting up his tent and he looked around and saw the others were still busy with theirs. So, he decided to go and look for firewood himself. Besides, he has Daedalus with him, anyway. He could easily checked his surroundings with the use of Daedalus to keep him safe.
Just when he was about to head deeper into the woods, a voice called out to him, “Hey, where are you going?”
Ryth turned his head and saw Azalea, walking towards him.
“I’m going to look for some firewood since I’m done with my tent,” Ryth answered. “What about you?”
Azalea nodded, showing her beautiful smile at him. “Mhm.” She then stood beside him and said, “I’ll help you. Lets go!”
Ryth nodded.
The two of them then walked into the forest, where Ryth had unsheathed [Blue Heart] and used it to cut off the branches that stood in their way. He, too, started to gather all the firewood, together with Azalea, who also had used [Blue Soul] to cut the branches.
They piled up the firewood that they had gathered and placed them inside their bags. Because Azalea had already known about Ryth’s spatial inventory, he did not bother to pretend that it does not exist.
After awhile, Ryth asked Azalea in concern, “Are you alright?” They have been gathering firewood for quite awhile so he was a bit worried that Azalea might get weary.
Azalea shook her head, waving away his concern. “Not really. I’m quite good, actually,” she replied. She then looked at him. “What about you? Aren’t you tired? You fought a lot of monsters while we were gathering firewood, though.”
Earlier while they were gathering firewood, Ryth and Azalea had encountered several level 30 monsters. Ryth took the lead to eliminate all of them. He then cut the meat of the monsters since they can eat that for dinner.
Ryth laughed lightly. “Ah, that was nothing. We are too strong for those monsters, anyway.” He then picked up more firewood from the ground and placed it inside his bag. He looked up at the starry night sky and continued, “It’s the same for later. We will definitely win this battle.”
Azalea smiled as she looked down at her clenched fist. Ryth had always been one of her pillars of strength. He never stop supporting her and encouraging her to move forward. He had been a great companion from the very beginning.
After a moment of silence, she finally said softly, “Mhm.”
Ryth nodded and gestured ahead. “Right, lets gather more firewood and then we’ll head back to the camp.”
After gathering more firewood, Ryth then said, “Alright. This should be enough, Azalea. Lets head back.”
“Alright.”
Although the two of them had been searching for firewood deep in the forest, they were not really that far from camp. So they turned back to the direction from where they came from.
However, just as they were about to go back, a soft and weak growl could be heard. “Raawr…”
Ryth immediately signalled to Azalea to stop walking. He put a finger over his mouth, indicating Azalea should keep quiet. He then called out Daedalus.
The [Eye of Daedalus] let out a beam of blue light to their surroundings and two red dots were spotted on Ryth’s minimap.
Ryth cautiously walked where the two red dots indicated, with Azalea quietly following him from behind. When they came closer to the indication, the two of them hid behind a large tree. They then snuck a peek from behind, to see what was the two red dots.
“Rawr… rawr…” A small cub was weakly rubbing its head against a big jaguar which was lying down near it. The big jaguar was bleeding all over its body and it seemed that it had already died from the injuries. The small cub licked the big jaguar’s face as if it could wake the big jaguar up. It then let out another weak and sorrowful rawr.
Ryth read the box above their heads which contained the information of the two jaguars.

The small cub was a level 5, while the big one, which Ryth presumed must be its mother, wasa level 35. The jaguars had the same orange fur with black dots all over their body, similar to a jaguar on earth.
The small cub then sensed something nearby. It looked up from its mother’s body and saw Ryth and Azalea. Blue sparks started to gather around its body, as it tried to stand up with all of its might. It let out a weak cry, trying to protect its mother. “Raawwrrr…!”
Ryth and Azalea saw it was trembling, as it tries to stand up. Blood on its stomach could also be seen. And after a couple of seconds, it fell back down again as it cannot build up its strength.
“Poor little thing…” Azalea said, sounding sad. “I think we should take a look at its wound.”
“It’s only a cub, there will be no danger.” Daedalus said.
“Alright.” Ryth nodded his head.
Ryth is not a beast tamer but he was still able to see what is wrong with the cub. Beast tamer was not a popular occupation in ‘The Throne’. This is because it is difficult to tame a beast or a monster. However, some still pursue it as their unofficial second or lesser occupation. The concept of being a beast tamer is to increase their familiarity level with the beast or monster that they would like to tame. They have to capture them alive, either by making them submit or lure it with foods and etc.
Ryth and Azalea walked slowly towards the cub and its mother.
Ryth said softly, holding out a hand, “It’s okay, we won’t hurt you…”
The cub let out a weak cry as it having a difficulty to stand up. Ryth stopped near the powerless cub and knelt down near the cub. He examined the cub’s wound and frowned. “It’s really a deep wound. We have to heal it immediately before it get worse.”
The cub does not have the strength to stand up anymore. It began to lie down on the ground, growling weakly.
Azalea quickly went beside it and said, “Let me do it!” She placed her hands above the cub’s wound and started to chant a healing spell.
Her hands started to glow where blue light were emitting from her hands. However, after a few minutes, Azalea frowned. “It’s not working! We were too late!”
The cub fell unconscious and its breathing getting weak.
Ryth gritted his teeth as he anxiously try to think of a solution. He then opened his inventory and took out [Dragon’s Tears Potion]. He opened the bottle and dropped a tear into the mouth of the cub.

Few minutes later, the cub’s body glowed with gold light and the wound began to close, as if it had never been there before. Its breathing returned to normal but the cub still could not stand up, due to the excessive blood loss.
Seeing that the cub was no longer in danger, the two of them heaved a sigh of relief. Ryth placed the bottle back inside his inventory and lifted the cub into his arms.
He turned his head at Azalea and said, “Let’s go. We will go back first and later on, we will bury its mother.”
“Okay!” Azalea nodded her head and followed behind him.
——-
At the camp, Lady Elsa was pacing in front of the campfire, looking worried and anxious.
“Where on earth did the two of them go?” she asked herself as she continued pacing. “I was only gone for a few minutes and suddenly, Azalea went missing. And then, Ryth also coincidentally went missing.”
Lady Elsa had just finished setting up the tent for her and Azalea’s. She then went to talk with the other female elves about dinner when Azalea went missing.
Llyod laughed heartily. “Haha! Don’t worry much, Lady Elsa. Miss Azalea probably went off training with young master Ryth,” he consoled. He had great confidence that Ryth would not bring danger to Azalea.
Lady Elsa just shook her head at Llyod. “Naive…” she mummbled.
Llyod leaned forward at Lady Elsa’s direction and said, “Huh? Did you say something, Lady Elsa?”
Lady Elsa just throw her hands in the air and walked away, ignoring Llyod.
Few minutes later, two figures came out from behind the trees, not far from where Llyod was standing.
Llyod turned around and exclaimed, “Look! It’s them!” He then noticed Ryth was carrying something in his arms. “What is that, my lord?” Llyod asked, confused.
Lady Elsa immediately rushed forward and stopped in front of Ryth and Azalea. She looked over at Ryth and stared down at the thing in his arms. “Hmmm… Looks like a monster,” she answered.
Llyod rushed forward too. “A jaguar cub?”
Ryth nodded. He then passed the cub to Llyod, “Have the healer to take a look at it. I need to go and bury its mother first.”
Llyod nodded and ran hurriedly towards the healers’ tents.
Lady Elsa frowned as she scrutinized Azalea from top to bottom. “Are you alright? What happened?” she asked, turning to Ryth.
“It’s like this…” Ryth began explaining to her about what happened while they were searching for firewood.
Lady Elsa nodded and said, “Alright, let’s bury the dead jaguar right now.”
Ryth and Azalea nodded their heads in unison as they led Lady Elsa to where the jaguar’s corpse was.
The dead corpse of the jaguar was still where they have left it.
Ryth knelt down beside the dead jaguar and said, “This is the only thing we can do for you.” Ryth closed its eyes. And after a couple of minutes, they buried the corpse. Azalea cut a big rock with her spell and placed it on top of the grave.
“Alright, let’s go back.” Lady Elsa said. She turned her head towards Ryth and continued, “You should accompany the cub for now. It will probably regain its consciousness by tomorrow. So when it wakes up, it won’t feel too disoriented. It should recognize your scent and sees you as a friend.
As from what you have told me, seems like it has a familiarity with you. So again, it should be alright.”
Ryth nodded. “I hope so.”
