I Am Legend - 48 The Start of The War 2
Few days after their camping in the cave, they finally reached the border of Griefendell Mountain where the High Elves city was located.
Evening came and the team went to set their camp for the night. Ryth immediately called the higher ranks of the teams to his tent, once everyone had settled down. This includes Azalea, Lady Elsa, Llyod, Hill, Tregnar and Woodgard.
Skye was sleeping inside the tent. It seems like it did not want to wake up anytime soon.
“I would like to see a detailed map of the High Elves city, Griefendell Mountain,” Ryth commanded.
Azalea immediately took out a paper scroll from her bag and spread it open on the table. “I actually drew this from memory,” she said. “I have included the names of every inn, shops and more. So, this should be sufficient.”
Ryth nodded as he looked down at the map. He looked amazed at how detailed the map is. “You’ve done a great job, Azalea,” he complimented. He then peered down, “Let’s see…”
He continued to study the map for awhile in silence. After a few minutes, he said, “So, the castle is here,” pointing at a specific location on the map. “Apparently, it appears that it is on a higher ground and the prison, where they have kept Azalea’s people should be around here, outside the city,” he continued, pointing to another location.
“But then again, it looks like its a mining zone and the cliff around it seems like a natural fortress. It only has one entrance, which is the main mining gate,” Ryth speculated, pointing at another location. He took a charcoal and marked the two spots.
“Alright. This should be the downtown district. Its at the very center of the city. This is where Lady Elsa should project the [Crystal of Truth].”
Azalea nodded. “That is correct.” She then pointed at a certain part of the map and said, “This is actually where the entrance of the secret passageway to the castle are located.”
“I see…” Ryth furrowed his brows. From the looks of the map, it appears that the entrance is outside the city, 300 meters away from the city wall. It was on the other side of the mining place, where the prison was located.
Ryth began to rub his chin with his thumb and index finger, thinking. “Hmmm, why don’t we let Lady Elsa lead 50 people in the team and sneak into the city as merchants?”
Lady Elsa nodded, smiling. “That should be alright. I believe all of the dark elves have learned the face-changing spell. This makes it easier for us to sneak in and avoid unnecessary trouble.”
Ryth nodded too. “Then, that would be great. Seems like getting into the city is no problem for Lady Elsa.” He then continued, “Now, for the prison raid, the entrance should be heavily guarded and can only be open from the inside. Is there any other way to get inside?”
Woodgard placed a hand over his heart and gave a small bow. “Leave the entrance to me. I will find a way to get inside and open the entrance for everyone.”
Ryth nodded again. “Great. But you need some other assassins with you in your team. Get in with them, find the key and free the prisoners. After that, you can open the gate,” he explained. Then Ryth frowned. “But there’s another problem. Wildan’s right hand man, General Rhangyl Larneiros. He’s a difficult opponent to beat.”
“We will just need to distract him,” Lady Elsa announced. “Stall for time so that Azalea and Mr. Myrad will have enough time to capture that scoundrel, Wildan in the castle.”
“And during that time, you will also need to project the [Crystal of Truth] in the middle of the city. Make it so that the people will finally know the truth about everything. Let the people be on our side,” Ryth added.
He then turned to Llyod and said, “Your mission here is to protect Lady Elsa, at all cost. No matter what.”
“Yes, my lord! Command well received!” said Llyod firmly, placing a hand over his heart and gave a small bow.
Ryth then turned to the rest of the team, his hands both on the table, as his face turned more serious. “Azalea, Hill and I will sneak into the castle, with the use of the secret passageway. Tregnar will lead the prison raid gate. Woodgard will sneak in to open the prison gate and free the prisoners. You all need to stall enough time to make General Rhangyl occupied,” he said.
“So, this is the plan first. Once we have gathered enough information from our intels, we will then wait for Lady Elsa to get into the city and then we will gather again. We will discuss further on this,” Ryth said.
“Yes!” all of them shouted in unison.

The next day, Ryth did his daily routine as always, where he changed his clothes and bandages. He then walked outside his tent to help the team prepare foods for breakfast.
It was 6 AM in the morning but the sky was cloudy and it seems like it was about to rain. So, after breakfast, Ryth told everyone in the team to stay inside their tents. Once the rain has stopped, only then they will continue the journey.
Lady Elsa was preparing her items for the disguise. She needed to make sure that everything was perfect and no flaws.
When the rain suddenly started to pour down, during that time, Ryth and Azalea were still at the campfire. They quickly ran to Ryth’s tent since his was the nearest, compare to Azalea’s.
“Excuse me,” Azalea said, as she hurriedly went inside.
Ryth went in after her. He grabbed Skye, that was on top of his head and placed him on the floor. Skye, too, was drenched. It was about to walk towards Ryth’s sleeping mat. It seems like it was about to use the mat to wipe himself dry.
Ryth quickly grabbed it by the scruff of its neck and grabbed a dry towel from his inventory and started to pat Skye dry. “Now, stop moving around and let me pat you dry,” Ryth said, exasperated.
“Rawr!” Skye sat obediently as it stopped struggling.
“Haha. Let me help,” Azalea giggled.
“Thanks,” Ryth said, handing her the towel and placing Skye on her lap. “I’ll go make some drinks. What would you like? Black tea or green tea?”
“I’ll have the black tea.”
“Alright. Just give me a moment,” he said. He quickly grabbed a kettle from his inventory and placed it on a heated rock and some drywood. He swiftly made a small fire to heat the water and started to make tea.
Ryth had some leftover tea leaves from his assigned house back in the dark elves’ village. This was because since he still has some slots left, why not bring some leaves to enjoy during their journey? Besides, drinking tea helps to calm Ryth’s mind as it was his favourite drink.
One’s mental health are one of the important factors of victory. Don’t you agree?
“There, there. You’re all dry up now,” Azalea smiled. She patted its head as she used her wind spell to dry the towel.
“Rawr!” Skye rubbed its head against Azalea’s right leg. It then walked near the heated stones and drywood to warm itself up.
“Here you go, Azalea.”
“Mhm, wait,” Azalea walked towards the heated stones and drywood and sat beside Ryth. She took the tea cup with both of her hands and said, “Thank you.”
“It’s still hot so be careful.”
“Okay…” Azalea blew on the hot tea to cool it.
“We probably need to gather more information from our intels. I mean, it has been more than a month since that happened. There’s a possibility that my uncle might have made a new path to connect the prison to the castle. Just to make it easier for him to look at what’s happening at the mining area.”
Ryth frowned. “Hmmm. Yes, that’s what I thought as well,” he said. “We should also take him knowing about the secret passageway as a possibility.”
Azalea sighed as she looked down at her tea cup. “Yeah,” she said slowly. “We really need to know more about his people. Whether he has any other monster like General Rhangyl on his side. We really need to think of plan B. A much better plan.”
Ryth nodded. He then turned to Azalea and patted her on the head. “Okay. For now, let’s just relax and enjoy the tea. We can think about it later once we get more information.”
Azalea’s face turned crimson red as she looked down to hide her burning face. “Mhm.”
Ryth sensed that she must feel embarrassed by his action so he quickly retract his hand and lightly cough. “Let me see [Blue Soul]’s durability.”
Azalea put down her tea cup and unsheathed her [Blue Soul]. She then handed it to Ryth, “Here.”
“Daedalus, you are unexpectedly quiet today.” Ryth said.

“Well, there’s nothing for me to talk about.” Replied Daedalus, “The durability is still high, no need to worry.”
“I need to know about the [Eye of Daedalus]. I need to upgrade it to level 2 to gain the ability to see people’s statuses, right?”
“Yeah, and the condition is 10 grand soul stones.”
“Hmm… what else do I get besides that?”
“The Laser skill will be upgraded too. You can also use it to attack.”
“Oh? The laser skill that you used to craft?”
“Yeah. Ku ku ku!”
“I need to get 11 grand soul stones, thinking about it gives me a headache… getting one of it is already hard enough…”
“Well, take it easy!”
“Ryth?” Azalea voice brought Ryth back to reality.
“Ah, sorry I left you out from the conversation. I was talking to Daedalus just now.” Ryth returned the [Blue Soul] to her and continued, “It’s still in great condition.”
“Ohh, that’s great, “Azalea smiled.
The two of them continued to talk with each other, until the rain stopped.
As for Skye? He was asleep this whole time!
