I Am The Commander Of The Second Male Lead’s Knights - Chapter 6
After Adrian had left with the knights, Nina ran with the money Adrian had given her and prepared the ransom fee.
Wishing her well, the kitchen maids sent her away.
What she did next was volunteer as a dark knight.
Since there were so many deaths associated with the dark knights, anyone who volunteered could join.
After all, they will be dead and carried out the next day.
When she joined the knights, she was presented with money.
Ten small gold coins were worth her life. Even so, Nina still showed her wrist because their conscience did not want to receive help from a young girl.
Symbol of a Spirit Contractor.
Upon seeing the spirit sentence wrapped around her wrist like a band, they stamped the pass.
She said she was a knight, but she was given six months of training as a soldier instead of a knight. Nina was quite talented and the instructor was sorry for her talent.
He had secretly offered to pay her out, but Nina politely refused.
Everyone thought she was a boy and Nina did not feel the need to correct them either.
Six month later, Nina joined the Dark Knight Division. During the whole process, she had heard numerous rumours of the Violet Forest.
A forest of violet everywhere.
Rumours were roughly of the same kind like this.
[ Inside the violet forest was a white cube building that looks as if it were going to snow. On each of its sides was embedded with jewellery which is a relic of a spirit.
This building, which no one knows who built it or when it was built, in itself is a link.
It is said that when God left the world to the Great Spirit and crossed the glass sea, one of the spirit monarchs rebelled against the Great Spirit.
Such rebellion was suppressed by other spirit monarchs. Before long, the fallen spirit fell to the ground in pieces.
Ever since then, Bellac, a fallen degenerate creature emerged from the ground.
The white building is a link used to prove that the story was not simply just a legend.
A fragment of said fallen spirit monarch is still in the frame and the reason why the forest turned violet is due to the poison from the fallen spirit monarch which contamination it. ]
Some laughed upon hearing such words and curiously asked for the location of the Violet Forest, but Nina knew.
The whole story and all its content was indeed the truth.
[ To See You Again ]
Asides from the fact that the title was not related to the book, the content that she read in the book is true.
That is why she signed the contract to believe in the existence of spirits.
All that is needed to sign a contract with a spirit is faith.
To believe in their existence and believe that they will lend their strength.
One problem though, was that such words are hard to digest.
Who would want to sign a contract with the Spirit of Wind and jump off the edge of a cliff with the belief that it would answer the call?
Thanks to this, spirits are rare to come by.
Only after her brother and sister died did she realised that this was the same world as [ To See You Again ], and although it was too late, she was able to sign a contract with a spirit.
The ‘Spirit of the Northern Wind’ and ‘Spirit of Frost’ were her two spirits. Adrian on the other hand had signed a contract with the ‘Spirit of Shadow and Darkness’.
Just like a flock of sheep being pushed around by herdsmen, the Dark Knights reached the Violet Forest.
Fear and excitement spread amongst the newcomers who were standing in front of the Violet Forest.
The older members giggled, already placing bets on how many of them would die.
New members lined up amidst the mess.
When the male leader came out onto the podium, the new recruits once again increased in volume.
However, Nina raised her hand when she took a glance at the male leader’s face.
“My Lord!”
There it was, Adrian’s face.
Breaking Adrain’s stoic expression is an extremely hard task, and Nina was proud to hold all the records.
Among them, this moment was good enough to count it in as a top few.
‘Why are you here?’
Adrian looked at Nina with such a dumbfounded expression.
Louis, the deputy commander standing beside him, managed to quickly take care of the situation, and Nina was immediately taken to the general manager’s office.
Adrian, who was annoyed, had never seen such a scene before. Nina was the confident type, if she’s not here, then who was it?
Upon facing Nina’s smiling face, he frustratedly rubbed his hands on his face.
“Really… You really have no intention of going back, do you?”
“Yes.”
“And you’re saying you’ll be there for me?”
“That’s correct.”
“You’ve said those words yourself”
“Yup.”
“There’s no regretting it now.”
“There’s nothing to regret.”
Adrian, once again, looked at Nina with a puzzled expression as she spoke proudly.
After a long time, he sighed and finally returned to his usual behaviour.
“Nina.”
Nina burst into tears when she heard him call out to her affectionately.
“I missed you.”
A trembling voice came out and Adrian replied with a sad smile, “Me too.”
***
Since then, the Dark Knights have changed rapidly.
Adrian reorganised the whole organisation. Nina wandered around as she struggled to bring the knights together.
For the time being, even though it’s ineffective, it’s still better to try everything she possibly can.
Well, as the kitchen sisters had mentioned, the Dark Knights were out of their minds.
Still, Nina’s sincerity got through to them and Adrian’s strategy was a success.
The most important thing now is to make it so people can live here.
‘If I were forced to live in a place like this, I would prefer to just die tomorrow.’
The dirty bedding and disgusting meals.
Both the place and the people seem to lack hope.
‘I have to change this.’
Although it is named the ‘Violet Forest’, not all of the forest is violet.
The central part of the forest is close to dark and lightens as it travels to the edge. In fact, most of it was ordinary forest.
It’s because there are so many Bellacs.
Nina and Adrian agreed that both cleanliness and order is important.
To wash and wipe everything clean and make rules.
“Delicious food is important.”
Nina said as she prepared a hot meal.
The food provided was low quality but at least the forest is a treasure trove filled with food.
The stew made by catching rabbits and deers was delicious and a popular dish amongst themselves.
Delicious food is what makes a person happy, fullness makes them relaxed.
If you do not follow the rules, you are not allowed to eat.
Once the rule was set in stone, everyone moved in to have a delicious meal whilst grumbling.
Adrian’s rules were cumbersome and reasonable at the same time.
As a result of Adrian’s efforts, the dark Knights were able to grow tremendously over the past two years.
The death rate was reduced to single digits and a system was established.
Those who volunteered to pay their ransoms, like Nina, are able to leave once they get paid. Such employment methods were more similar to hiring mercenaries than knights. Hence, most people leave as soon as they have paid their ransom, leaving behind a very small number of people left.
It was a very satisfying and happy time.
Above all, it was great to be able to talk to Adrian comfortably.
He no longer has to hide now.
Imagine how happy Nina was to be able to talk face-to-face, comfortably and regularly with Adrian.
Often, the two would secretly play in the woods just like children of their age. Of course, it was Nina who held his hand and led him.
Nina had even built a secret hideout in the trees, but she was disappointed when it got destroyed by the Bellacs.
Like a boy, Nina had little to no hesitation in speaking her mind and showing her attitude. Everyone naturally assumed that she was a boy.
It was only a while later did the dark Knights find out about the truth and were in turn shocked. Nina, on the other hand, looked at them curiously and asked, “Oh, what’s wrong?”
Nina said, “It’s merely friendship, do not misunderstand.” She replied, but the others just laughed it off.
The knights respected Adrian, and Nina loved him.
If they continue having happy days like these, Nina could end up confessing how it was a peaceful life staying in front of the glass sea.
It was at that time when Gerald’s obituary came.
