I Became a Guide For My Childhood Friend - Chapter 31.2
“I’m also glad that you are happy in my company, Yernia.”
As Yernia was about to pour alcohol, she threw Cassian a questioning look when he suddenly sat next to her and seized her chin without clinking their glasses.
Cassian suddenly punched the wall behind Yernia.
*THUD*
“What are you doing?”
Why did he do that all of a sudden?
At that moment, Cassian lowered his head.
Oh, this angle is a bit—-
“Did you drink, Cassian? Were you drunk before you came here?”
Yernia had drank a little bit of wine at the reception.
Did he get drunk with that when she was perfectly fine?
When Cassian’s face approached hers, Yernia covered his mouth with her palm.
“I’m fine.” Cassian murmured and kissed the hand that covered his mouth.
Yernia swallowed hard, freaking out.
“Wait! Wait! Wait!”
What’s wrong with him?
“No, that can’t be!”
“What can’t be, Yernia? What do you mean no? Be straightforward and tell me about it.”
Was Cassian trying to spend the first night with her?
Yernia didn’t think so.
That can’t be true because he was in the same boat as her.
She wasn’t the only one who had to marry because of fate.
Why did he want to kiss her all of a sudden?
“Cassian. You and I are in the same boat, am I right?”
Maybe, Yernia should talk to him the way a smart person would.
Since Yernia’s palm had covered his mouth, Cassian nodded quietly.
“Let me make this clear. I just wanted to be friends with—-”
“—but we’re married now.” Every time Cassian spoke, his soft lips brushed against her hand and it tickled.
She wanted to clench her fist but she held back.
“We could be a couple who will remain as friends. I want to be your friend forever, Cassian.”
Yernia drew a line and she knew Cassian wasn’t a fool to misunderstand her after saying this much.
Of course, Cassian would agree!
“I don’t want to do that, Yernia.” His dark chuckle vibrated at the palm of her hand. “Now that we’re married, shouldn’t we change our relationship status?”
Why did he look so happy?
Yernia blinked in hopes of seeing something she had missed.
No.
She wasn’t missing anything.
It was clear that Cassian was enjoying himself.

“I don’t want you to see me as your brother or your childhood friend, Yernia.”
Yernia thought that she and Cassian would drink wine while crying and holding hands to sympathize with one another after the wedding was finished.
However, Cassian was just weird.
“Well, let’s see. In my eyes, you are still my brother.”
Whether or not Cassian was going to make a big deal out of this, Yernia would never change her mind.
She believed it to be true and she was sure of it.
“Why don’t you see and find it out yourself?” He smiled yet his eyes appeared anxious. “Will you Yernia?”
Yernia clearly knew what it felt like to have her eyes spin round and round because it was happening to her right now.
Cassian wasn’t acting like this because he was simply drunk.
She was enlightened to know that a person can spiral out of control from sheer panic and chagrin.
“Guiding!” Yernia shouted hurriedly.
“Let’s do some guiding, Cassian. I think I have to guide you.”
It was the guide’s responsibility to slowly release her Esper’s abilities.
If she continues to periodically guide Cassian time and time again, the stronger he gets and the faster he can summon his abilities.
Unfortunately, Cassian had taken inhibitors in his childhood since he was reluctant to contact others.
No experienced guide could help him in the first place so he had no choice but to have his abilities suppressed.
Cassian hadn’t received proper guidance so far so Yernia must have cleared his cluttered mind by now.
She had no idea how it happened, but now that she was his fate, she was the only one capable of guiding Cassian.
She had finally found a way to get through this crisis.
Yernia looked at Cassian, who seemed stunned for a moment, and then she bit his neck.
Yernia took Cassian’s hand, feeling fortunate that her words had worked on him.
‘I am your guide, Cassian. If I tell you not to desire anything else from me other than guiding, you must follow through.’
Yernia still trusted Cassian despite the sudden change in his behavior.
She didn’t even know why he changed.
“…….”
There was silence.
Strangely enough, Cassian said nothing.
When Yernia peeked at him while guiding, their eyes met because Cassian was only looking at Yernia the whole time.
“Right. Who was that girl from before, Cassian?” Yernia asked out of the blue to shatter the awkward atmosphere.
“Girl from before?”
“I meant that blonde, blue-eyed beauty. She looked really pretty when I saw you with her.”
“What?”
She was about to elaborate more on the woman’s existence, but frown lines had marred Cassian’s forehead as if he heard something he didn’t want to hear.
“Why are you so surprised? I think she likes you, Cassian. I also think it’s the first time I saw you with a girl. It’s a little shocking to find out that you had a friend I didn’t recognize.”
“It’s not like that.”
“No, it’s not. How could you say that?”
“What did you hear about our conversation, Yernia?”
