I Became a Guide For My Childhood Friend - Chapter 35.2
Yernia thought she knew Cassian well, but she was mistaken.
She had no choice but to keep coming up with this idea.
Cassian sponsored orphanages regularly and it was a known fact.
However, she only found out today that she would be visiting in person.
A lot of aristocrats supported these schools but most of them just send them money and glorify their hobbies, instead.
Yernia would probably visit these orphanages in person at first.
Then, she would send them money next time and after that.
Yet, Cassian went there himself every time.
“I’ve been waiting for you, Your Grace.”
The orphanage’s director welcomed them with both of his hands locking together.
Yernia saw Cassian again.
“I heard about your wedding in a newspaper article. Congratulations.”
Yernia smiled at the director warmly while Cassian gave him a half-hearted nod.
It appeared like Cassian didn’t do small talks unless necessary.
The director took both of them to his office.
Indeed, Cassian seemed to have sponsored the entire place.
Perhaps, he wanted to avoid flattery as much as possible so he’s acting like he didn’t want to be bothered.
“It smells good.”
After the director dropped them off, he seemed to be a little surprised when Yernia sipped her tea after smelling its scent.
“You’re drinking tea.”
“Didn’t you give it to me to drink?”
“I did. The people who visited the orphanage didn’t seem to like its taste so I assumed you wouldn’t drink them. I was a little surprised.”
The tea was neat, although not as colorful as Yernia would enjoy.
“It tastes good.”
Then she suddenly realized that the taste of tea was merely an excuse.
In other words, people who paid donations to daycare centers never drank tea because they thought it was dirty.
Yernia didn’t think about it much, but everyone except Yernia did.
These people grew up eating and seeing the best things in luxurious places.
After being treated with the best, there was no way they would use tableware when they weren’t sure if they’re clean.
Cassian chatted with the director, asking if there was anything lacking in the operation, and the director answered every single one of his queries.
The director said that the children ate a lot these days and the adoption was quite rare but their numbers in the orphanage had increased every year.
“This is my donation.”
Cassian beckoned the attendant and the attendant behind him put a large bag on top of the table.
The director accepted the bag with a smile.
The conversation seemed to have ended roughly.
“The donations you have given us are well spent on our children. Aren’t you going to see them today?”
Cassian was about to nod but then he paused.
After enough contemplation, he suddenly turned his head toward Yernia.
Yernia tilted her head slightly and told him, “Let’s see. I like kids more than you think.”
“What are you doing? It’s dirty.”
Yernia and Cassian walked through the hallway, examining each room as the director guided them.
The children often ran away from them because they were strangers.
Cassian often visited the orphanages, but he didn’t seem to visit the children.
The children’s reaction and the director’s statement was enough as evidence.
“What are you doing? I can’t see.”
She had no idea why Cassian changed my mind.
Anyway, the children seemed surprised by their presence so instead of opening the door, she and Cassian paused to look at the children through the window.

The only problem was that only Cassian seemed visible.
The opaque window was only transparent starting from the top of Yernia’s head.
She couldn’t see anything even if she was already on her tip-toe.
“I’ll open the window for you….”
Before the director could even finish speaking, Cassian hugged Yernia.
Yernia smiled awkwardly at the wide-eyed director.
The room was a mess and the children, who had red and blue paint all over their skin and clothes, were all gathered in a huddle.
“Let’s see! oh, it’s art time! I have been painting since the age of six.”
“Does the orphanage even have drawing papers?”
“What?”
“These children are drawing on their bodies. Why don’t you buy them pieces of paper with the money you’ve received so far?”
Cassian must have been here to monitor the pampered director for embezzlement.
Yernia had realized that immediately after scanning through the ledger.
When the director burst open the door, all the children howled in astonishment.
“Where’s the teacher in charge?”
“Teacher Yen? I don’t know!”
The director huffed before his expression quickly changed.
He flashed them an innocent smile but Cassian and Yernia already knew what he’d done.
“I think this happened because the teacher went away for a while. She usually gave papers for them to draw.”
“Who are you? Why are you in the man’s arms?”
A child with blue paint on his face stuck his head out of the door and pointed her finger at Yernia.
The director quickly took the child by the hand.
“They’re good people who support the orphanage. Now, say hello politely.”
“Hello.”
The child blushed when she waved at her with a smile.
Yernia liked children and found their innocence adorable.
“Pretty!”
Yernia patted him on the shoulder, asking her to put her down but he just wouldn’t.
“She’s my wife.”
“Oh! You’re a married couple!”
After their marriage, Cassian seemed to love them being called a couple.
He always had this satisfied smile every time.
How strange.
People might think he liked her or something.
“Hey. Please go out with me!”
“Shall we?”
It was Cassian who responded to the child’s unexpected proposal.
Not Yernia.
“Aren’t you busy?”
“I have a minute. Are you willing to wait?”
“Yes.”
