I Became a Guide For My Childhood Friend - Chapter 41.1
“Yernia?”
It was Jennan.
She was glad to see the man she had just met earlier in this shopping district’s opera house’s waiting room.
“Oh! Jennan!”
When Yernia looked back at him and smiled, Jennan’s eyes turned into down-turned crescents, and he laughed.
“Oh, that’s right. I saw you from afar, but I thought it wasn’t you. We were together a little while ago, but here I am.”
“Right. It’s amazing!”
“What were you doing?”
Yernia pointed at the cuff button.
She was in a dilemma on what to choose between silver and gold but not only that.
She also had to pick on what type of designs she wanted.
The cuff button came in all shapes—-round, a triangle, and a square.
There were so many to choose from.
“I’m trying to buy a gift, but I don’t know what’s better. That’s why I’m here. What about you, Jennan?”
“Oh, I…”
At that moment, a black-haired woman interrupted their conversation and asked, “Jennan, do you know her?”
The lady folded her arms over her chest.
Jennan’s face hardened for a second before he smiled upon seeing her.
“She’s a fan of mine.”
“I’m a fan of you, too. Wouldn’t it be rare to find a person who isn’t your fan?”
The woman suddenly scrutinized Yernia.
“So, how far did you go with Jennan?”
The unexpected remark brought awkward silence to the atmosphere.
Frown lines marred Yernia’s forehead when she asked, “What?”
“You seemed surprised. Are you pretending to be naive? I meant—”
“Stop it. Don’t do this.”
“Why? Am I curious? So how much did you get this time?”
Jenan looked back at the stubborn woman who just wouldn’t listen.
The woman seemed surprised and annoyed upon seeing her.
Jennan unfolded her arms and whispered to her ear.
The woman’s stiff countenance started to loosen.
She was out for Yernia’s blood just earlier, and now, she was already caressing Jennan’s back, forgetting about her entire existence.
Then, she left them there without saying anything.
“What?”
Yernia was in a bad mood.
How could she leave her like that without saying sorry?
She thought about catching the woman to pry an apology out of her big mouth but she decided against it.
If they engage in another argument again, she wouldn’t apologize to Yernia anyway.
Perhaps, she could pretend she had stepped on a pile of manure.
“I’m sorry. She’s a bit nasty.”
“Jennan, you’re working hard.”
It must have been hard to have a fan like that.
Biting her cheek, Yernia looked at him with sympathy.
“See you next time, Jennan. I’ll go see your performance again.”
Yernia still had some work to do.
She couldn’t afford to deal with Jennan because she still had to pick a present for Cassian.
It’s a little unfortunate, but it can’t be helped.
Jennan did not leave even though Yernia already bade him goodbye.
“Whose present is it?”
“My husband.”
“Oh, you must have been in good terms with the Marquis recently. Thank you for taking my side last time.”
“Are we on good terms—-”
Well, it wasn’t like they were on bad terms.

“I can be so mad that I want to punch him in the face sometimes, but I do like him because I know he’s a nice guy.”
Yernia said seriously as she examined the cuff buttons.
Jennan’s eyes narrowed.
“I’ll take this one.”
Yernia chose a silver cuff button.
Then a bright idea flashed across her mind.
“Please put a jewel in it. Well, I hope it’s blue. I like sapphires, too. I hope it’s the color of the night sea.”
It would be nice to have a cuff button that resembled Cassian’s eyes.
She waited for a little while and it was done.
It wasn’t that hard to put the jewelry on the cuff buttons.
Yernia left the men’s tailor shop, carrying a gift with a beautiful wrapper and a large ribbon tied over it.
She even bought Jennan a cuff button that would suit him.
Jennan’s eyes widened, moved at the surprise gift.
“Is this for me?”
“Yes.
“You’re so sweet, Yernia. I envy your husband.”
It’s not that much, but she was a little embarrassed to hear the pliment.
She felt good, however.
Yernia, strolling in a daze after giving Jennan a present, looked back at him.
He was still there, walking right next to her.
“Why aren’t you going?”
Yernia was Jennan’s fan, but they weren’t close enough to meet in private.
She wanted to cheer for him from afar rather than this close.
She only invited him to a meal once to convey her sentiment as a fan and he also gave her some fan service in exchange.
Wait.
Was this another fan service?
She didn’t think so.
This opera singer had pretended to be close to a fan he happened to see on the street but being next to that particular fan all the time seemed not to be just fan service.
“I have to go now. See you.”
Yernia waved as if she had not heard Jennan since she was too focused on trying to get into a waiting carriage nearby.
But Jennan grabbed Yernia’s arm.
“Wait a minute.”
“Why?”
“There’s something on your head.”
Jenan approached her, perhaps to take it off.
When Yernia lifted her eyes to check out the hand touching her head, it didn’t seem to look like something was there.
“Is there something?”
“I don’t know. I must have seen it wrong.”
Jennan took his hand off and flicked her head for no reason.
“By the way, do you like it?”
“What?”
Jenan glanced behind Yernia.
Jennan’s voice grew subtly louder, but Yernia didn’t notice.
“Do you like being married to Cassian so far?”
“Yes, I like it. If it appears like I don’t like it, I really do.” Yernia simply said.
Jennan smiled, covering his mouth.
“I like it, too.”
Yernia was speechless for a moment.

Wait.
Did Jennan mean he liked the fact that Yernia was married to Cassian or he liked Cassian himself?
Yernia didn’t approve of what Cassian did to Jennan, but she still liked him as a person, though.
“Really?”
“Yes.”
