I Became A Thief Who Steals Overpowered Skills - Chapter 38:
Knock, knock—
“Lord Head of the Family, it is I, Krasue Valheim.”
The moment Krasue asked for permission to enter, a response immediately came from inside.
“Come in.”
Obviously, he must have sensed his presence before he even stopped at the door.
Krasue carefully grabbed the doorknob, and turned it to open it.
Then, in the brightly lit drawing room, Krasue saw black hair just like his own.
Between the bangs that fell below his forehead, his eyes seemed to be filled with blue stars as he calmly looked down at the table.
Suddenly, he raised his head.
That was enough to give Krasue goosebumps.
Before his eyes there was a mountain. A mountain so enormous that no matter how much he looked up he would never see the top.
At that moment, Krasue felt what it was like to be deeply overwhelmed.
He remembered what it was like to stand before Baloch Valheim, a being who had transcended human limits and reached the level of a demigod.
He had a long way to go to reach his father’s absurd strength.
‘Even now, he still seems like a monster to me.’
Krasue swallowed hard, then spoke politely,
“I am pleased to see the Head of the Valheim Family.”
This was the first time he had met his father since he returned to the past. As Krasue’s mouth felt dry, Baloch said,
“Sit down.”
After those words, Krasue immediately sat up straight on the couch in front of him.
To meet in person with the Head of the Family was the only privilege of the direct descendants.
Krasue, who had the least right to that privilege as a good-for-nothing, struggled to look directly at Baloch. Then his father said slowly,
“I heard that you went to an erosion of the world for the first time.”
‘Who told him about it?’
Although Krasue didn’t know if he had found out from his mother or someone else, he quickly responded,
“Yes, I went recently.”
“How was it?”
‘What can I say…’
He once more confirmed Velokin’s hideousness, managed to get closer to immortality, and even stole a skill on his own merits for the first time in his life.
From Krasue’s perspective, that erosion of the world could be described as a battle won.
But what if he told his father about what happened?
He lured his brother into a trap, and killed him once he revealed his true face. He then passed off his death as if it had been a laudable sacrifice.
The worst of all was not that he took over his brother’s skill, but that he even allied himself with an erosionist.
Krasue was astonished at himself. He could receive severe punishment for what he had done.
Krasue didn’t know to what extent Baloch could see through his words. After all, his father was a demigod who had awakened divine eyes.
So he decided to talk honestly about how he had felt.
“It wasn’t as scary as I thought it would be.”
Before Krasue ended Velokin’s life, he looked back and could only see him as mere scum.
Velokin, who had tormented him terribly and had been a representation of his fears, in the end was simply someone ordinary trampled by the star named Charlotte.
That’s why he didn’t inspire fear when he saw him again, rather he found him pathetic. He even decided to kill him.
“I see.”
Baloch responded very briefly. It is said that when one becomes a demigod, one is quite removed from the emotions to which humans are subject.
For that reason, although he didn’t have a curse like Bianca, he had a stiff and expressionless face.
“Well, alright then.”
With that said, Baloch stood up.
Startled by his father’s reaction, Krause also stood up.
“Lord Head of the Family, that’s all you came to talk about?”
“Yes, that’s all. I understood what I was interested in.”
‘What on earth had he understood from the few words we just exchanged?’
Krasue was perplexed, but Baloch seemed to have already made up his mind.
“I’ll return to the Forbidden Zone.”
He referred to the Forbidden Zone as if it were a place to stroll.
There was no way he could stand in the way of the Head of the Family. All Krasue did was bow as he watched Baloch leave.
Later, he learned from his butler that Baloch actually went to the Forbidden Zone. He didn’t even pass by the head manor.
Even if this wasn’t right, there was no one in Valheim who would dare to contradict the wishes of the Head of the Family.
Feeling that the storm had dissipated, Krasue brushed his hair back.
‘Damn, I feel like my life expectancy has been drastically reduced.’
As he pondered the real reason his father had come here, he saw another carriage in the distance through the window.
Once Krause saw the Danfellion Family emblem engraved on the carriage, he snorted,
“Huff, it took her forever to come.”
Right now, he wasn’t in a good mood.
