I Became the Wicked Beastmen’s Catnip - Chapter 9
“Princess. It’s time to leave.”
At Alice’s words, I closed the picture book I was reading.
Just in time, the wind blew my light pink hair, which was tied low in pigtails.
“Already?”
“Have you been reading picture books again?”
This picture book was a picture book about the founding myth of the Myo World, which the nanny bought for me on my fourth birthday not long ago.
“What about Count British?”
“Please wait in the study downstairs.”
Today was the first day of my formal education as a Persian princess.
I was tired of listening to the language training in reading and writing over and over again. When I finally learned about the history of the Myo Clan, my heart began to race.
‘I wish there were content related to prophecies or the Messiah.’
I took a deep breath. Whenever the wind blows, the sweet scent of flowers fills the terrace.
‘It’s been four years already.’
At the age of four, I was able to walk, talk, eat, run and move freely without assistance. What was most satisfying was that the leaking pronunciation was now quite accurate.
‘Even though I still tend to make short tongue sounds.’
While my body was growing rapidly, Licht, who left the graveyard, never shared his news. I had never seen even a single hair of the escort that he had attached separately.
“What about the nanny? I can’t shee her today either?” (What about the nanny? I can’t see her today either?)
When I asked innocently, as I had been accustomed to the childish tone of voice for four years, Alice, who was helping with the preparations for going out, raised her eyebrows.
“Yes. Since the Chief was away, I think she had a lot of work to do with the help of the Chief’s aide.”
After Licht was away, Mir and the nanny, who were in charge of the main palace, became very busy. It seemed like they were busy taking care of the Persian immediate family, including myself, and managing the budgets of the main palace and the separate palaces.
At first glance, it seemed that while Licht was away, the senate was overseeing the general affairs of the Myo World.
‘It looks like the Second Prince, who is in the second-highest rank after Licht, was absent.’
During my four years of staying at the main palace, I had never met the Second Prince yet.
Still, the rumors floating around among the maids were noisy.
‘They did say that even though he was still young, he had a great talent for bewitching beastmen, right?’
If possible, I didn’t want to get involved with him who had such rumors as much as possible like right now.
Alice, who misunderstood my slightly plump expression, asked as she straightened her clothes. “Are you sad that you haven’t seen the nanny for a while? But I think I hear it once in a while when the Princess is sleeping.”
“It’sh okay! I like Alice too!” (It’s okay! I like Alice too!)
Another maid assigned to me, Loen, was absent from my side to care for the nanny, who was now on the verge of dying from overwork. Now that I was no longer a helpless baby, I had no problem in my life even if it was Alice alone.
“How can our Princess talk so nicely?”
A yellow tail protruded from Alice’s ass, whose affection for me had changed over the course of four years in the Myo World. Alice, who was shaking her body as if she couldn’t stand it, hugged me tightly and let me go.
If a nanny or Loen had seen it, it would have been an action that would have been flagged and dismissed, but I didn’t care and kept a smile on my face.
‘Because the more beastmen on my side, the better.’
I don’t really feel bad at all.
It was awkward to hug someone, but it wasn’t too bad to have one side of the chest softened
“More than that, you will be taking classes together with the Fourth Prince from today, though, will you be okay?”
A deep sigh escaped between my lips at the sound of the Fourth Prince being mentioned.
‘They said that they would make me go through the same educational process as other direct descendants without discrimination.’
As soon as I turned four, Licht assigned various tutors. The Fourth Prince, whose education was delayed due to a severe fever last year, was also with me.
“Yesh. It’sh okay.” (Yes. It’s okay.)
I patted Alice’s restless shoulder with a small hand.
“If, by any chance, His Highness the Fourth Prince tries to hurt you, you must tell me right away.”
I came out of the bedroom holding Alice’s hand, who was worried, and smiled vaguely before turning back.
“What about in the afternoon?”
“In the afternoon, Marquis Scottish will come to teach you manners.”
“…Do I have to listen to that, too, with the Fourth Prince?”
When I asked with hesitation, Alice, who was walking down her hallway, holding my hand tightly, shook her head.
“I think you will listen to the manners separately. The Fourth Prince had an etiquette teacher from another family.”
It was a nice-to-hear one, among the ones I’d heard.
During the past three years when Licht was away, the Fourth Prince Askari acted like a beastman who couldn’t eat me. I was going to say this, but as the days went by, his actions were going beyond the limits.
Alice, who noticed the shade on my face, said in a strong voice.
“Don’t worry too much! The Chief will return soon, so the Fourth Prince will no longer be rude to the Princess.”
Will that be the case?
I pursed my lips as I recalled the Fourth Prince who had a particularly deep hostility to me.
‘I don’t think that’s how one reacts just because a rock rolled in.’
It was true that he treated me like a thorn in the eye, but sometimes it seemed like he was compulsively pushing me to suppress something.
‘Or does he hate me because I’m just a human?’
At one time, there was a rift so deep between humans and beastmen that the Continental War lasted more than 100 years. Although the power of the beastmen was greatly weakened by the victory of the humans, it was a different story from the Myo Clan living in the Myo World.
With a sigh, I took Alice’s hand and went down the spiral staircase.
As we traversed a long hallway decorated with antique tapestry, we saw a door guarded by two guards.
“I’ll be back, Alice!”
“… I will make sweet pumpkin soup that the Princess likes and wait.”
I waved her hand to Alice, who was constantly looking back, and stared at the guards. They glanced at me sideways, then suddenly hardened their shoulders.
“I’ll open the door, Your Highness the Princess.”
“Yesh. Thank yew.” (Yes. Thank you.)
The guards, who had been staring at each other for a moment, opened the door. The door engraved with the Persian family pattern opened with the sound of rustling armor.
‘I hope he doesn’t go too far today.’
Unable to hide my annoyance, I gazed at the view slowly emerging through the door.
I caught my eye on the back of the beastman, who was waiting for me in the library filled with bookshelves. When I thought that it was somehow familiar to my eyes, the beastman heard the sound of the door opening and looked back at me slowly.
My eyes widened as I looked at his face against the sunlight pouring through the arched window.
“…Huh? Mir?”
“You came early, Princess.”
Mir, who was sorting out the documents presumed to be class materials, set an example for me with a smile on his face.
“Why ish Mir here?” (Why is Mir here?)
“Like this. When the water above is clear, the water below is clear. After serving the indifferent His Majesty for a long time, I became indifferent at the same time.”
…Is Mir finally crazy?
I looked at Mir, whose eyes were as empty as a nanny, with worried eyes.
“It’s late, but I will introduce myself formally, Princess. I’m Miren British, the head of the British family, one of the nineteen families representing the Myo World. Haha.”
The corners of Mir’s lips twitched slightly, as if it was awkward for him to introduce himself.
Blinking my eyes in the unexpected situation, I tilted my head to one side.
“Doesn’t Alice know that Mir is also Count British?”
“Yes! Among the royal family, only Mary, Your Highness the Princess’ nanny, knows my true identity.”
The nanny and Mir, the maids of the main palace, were childhood friends for a long time.
My shoulders, which had been hardened by the fear of meeting strangers, were loosened.
“Then is Mir my teacher?”
“Somehow it turns out to be like that, hahaha.”
Thanks to this, Mir, who complained that he was even three bodies short, sighed and added his explanation.
“As Your Highness knows very well, His Majesty wasn’t very interested in the well-being of his servants, so it wasn’t a big deal, emphasizing that he would like me to teach the Princess and His Highness the Prince myself.”
My eyes widened at the unexpected story.
“Licht?”
“Yes. Probably because His Highness the Fourth Prince is still inexperienced in regulating his emotions.”
In the end, it was said that Mir was used as a safety pin in case of any unforeseen disaster between me and Askari.
‘So it wasn’t that they attached the Fourth Prince and me without much thought.’
Feeling a strong sense of relief, it was time for me to ask about Licht’s well-being. A sharp voice cut through the air.
“Why is that here?”
I sighed and turned my head in the direction where I heard his voice.
The Fourth Prince, who had grown a little bigger than the last time I saw him, was staring at me as if he was about to kill me.
‘From where do they see that he’s only a year older than me?’
Askari, who is five years old this year, has a bigger skeleton than me and is about half a span taller than me. He looked more like a child than an infant.
The sharp look in his sky-blue eyes burned with hostility towards me.
“I said, why is that here!”
With his face contorted, Askari strode towards me with his menacing gesture. He had a red tail that I didn’t know when it came out, and he sharpened his fans.
Mir, noticeably bewildered, sneaked in between us.
“Haha. His Highness the Fourth Prince, you are 10 minutes late. Your Majesty is very interested in the class you two are taking together, and I’m already worried about how sorry he would be to know this.”
Askari’s tail, which soared high, slid down at the name or Licht, which Mir had brought out on purpose. He glanced at me as his chest was pounding as if to control his anger.
“Did Brother tell me to take a class with this?”
“There is no reason for the two of you to listen separately. His Majesty said that he has high expectations for the Prince.”
Then, the corners of his eyebrows, which had been raised wildly, found their place like a lie.
“Then there is nothing I can do.”
Askari took a deep breath and passed me by. Watching that simple change, I realized a shocking fact.
‘Maybe the reason he hates me so much…’
Is it all because of Licht?
Looking at him, who reacted sensitively to Licht’s name, it didn’t seem like an absurd hypothesis.
“Alright then, let’s start the class.”
The first class I took as a Persian princess in an atmosphere like a piece of thin ice began.
