I Choose The Heroine’s Route - Chapter 4
And now, I’ve turned into Aksia Euridice.
“What now?” I whispered to myself.
After seeing the memories of Aksia earlier, I sent Amy – Aksia’s personal maid to get me a cup of tea. In truth, that was just an excuse and I sent her out to have some time for myself.
When you think about it, Aksia is simply a tragic character. All she wanted was her parent’s love but until the very end of the story, even after her death, her parents didn’t give her any care.
I shake my head when I felt tears gathering at the corner of my eyes. This is probably the first time I became this emotional for a character. The first time I saw Aksia in the game, and when I learned about her story and life, I also cried. And now, after actually seeing all of those horrible things that happened to her, I cried again.
At the same time, I can’t help but be mad at the people who treated her like this.
“My lady, I’m back with your tea.” I fixed my sitting posture when I heard Amy’s voice outside the room. The door opened and she entered with a tray on her hands. She put the tray first on the table not far from the bed then gave me the cup of tea that I gratefully accepted.
“Amy, just to make sure, how old am I right now?” I asked. She looked confused but answered nonetheless.
“You’re 15 right now, my lady.”
I see, so just 1 year before the engagement with the Crown Prince. This… this is my reality now. I did wish to die and be reborn after all, I don’t regret that. I didn’t expect that I would be reincarnated as Aksia though. To whoever it is that made this possible to happen, I’m grateful to them. But now, I also can’t help but be curious about the real Aksia. Now that my soul is in her body, where did her soul go to?
Thinking about everything that happened to her, the most possible thing that could’ve happened is that… she died.
I clenched my fist.
That’s all I could think of. She died then my soul replaced her soul inside her body.
“My lady,” I snap back to reality when I heard Amy’s voice. I looked at her and saw her fiddling with her fingers, “Are you truly okay now?” She asked. I stare at her for a few more seconds before answering.
“Yes. I’m really okay now. Thanks for worrying about me, Amy.” I smiled a little and she also smiled back. Amy truly cared about Aksia, unlike her parents and other people, Amy loved Aksia and sees her as her little sister. It’s the same for Aksia, she also loves Amy and most of all, she’s grateful to her for always being by her side.
“Lady Aksia… is there something wrong? You’re clenching your fist again.”
“Ah..” I immediately unclench my fist, “No, it’s nothing.”
“You know Amy, you’re like the older sister I never had.” I said and she blushes.
“An older sister to my lady… how could I?! But yes, that would be nice and I also see my lady as my little sister but still how…” she started mumbling to herself and I chuckled.
Amy Taylor. She’s been Aksia’s personal maid since birth. During those hard times, she became Aksia’s pillar and support. Amy is a commoner, because of that, she can’t really do anything to help Aksia. In the game bonus story, it was said that she considered running away at first but realized that it might also be pointless since the Duke and Duchess can find them easily if they use their power and connections.
She died because she can’t bear to see Aksia getting abused anymore, so when she tried to help her, the Duchess had accidentally pushed Amy which made her hit her head on a table’s edge. The Duchess lied about her death after that, she said that the maid just accidentally ‘tripped’ but Aksia who was there the whole time saw what happened.
However, she still can’t hate her mother. She loves Amy, and she knows that what her mother did was wrong. She was torn inside, she doesn’t know what to do or think anymore.
Without Amy or anyone by her side to support her, she became evil.
But when you think about how Aksia acted before she got executed, maybe – just maybe, she already knows that she has been foolish and stupid from the very beginning. Maybe she already knew that she shouldn’t have longed for the love of the Duke and Duchess, and maybe, even though she did try to do everything she can to get their attention, she already knows that it will result to nothing.
“My lady, you’re worrying me. Your spacing out again.” I looked up and saw Amy looking at me with worry.
“I’m really fine Amy,” I smiled.
I swear on myself and the original Aksia, now that I’ve become Aksia Euridice, I won’t live the way ‘we’ did before anymore.
