I Deserve A Second Chance - Chapter 271
Shao Yan was sitting cross legged on the carpeted floor in her room. She raised her head up when she heard the question to look at Qi Ling who was now leaning by her door frame.
The afternoon sun was seeping through the curtains and hit the heels of her feet. Qi Ling was wearing short summer pants in jeans material and a simple white tank top. The golden sun that was shining on her flawless long legs made the fabulous supermodel looking even more stunning.
Shao Yan tilted her head as she contemplated for a while. She wondered how the chubby, little girl from before had grown up so differently.
Shao Yan remembered her earlier question and thought for a while; before she suddenly broke out into a grin.
“I guess it will be my first birthday celebration with him, I’m so excited!”
Qi Ling saw Shao Yan shrugged her shoulders. She nodded, “Bring more sexy clothes, then.” Qi Ling then pointed her chin to the white armoire dresser, “Go unpack your summer clothes, you should bring more of your cute dresses to capture the poor man’s heart.”
Shao Yan gave her disapproving look as she squinted her eyes, “What poor man! He’s my man!”
“But! Oh! That’s a good idea,” Shao Yan quickly jumped up to her feet and approached her bed. She bent down and from under the bed, she pulled out a huge transparent box in which she had packed all her summer clothes away.
Shao Yan dragged the box out and laid it out beside her; in between her dresser and her bed. “I should start packing my winter clothes away, and take out my summer clothings now. Thanks for reminding me, Ling Ling,” She said while glancing at Qi Ling from her shoulder.
“You can decide what is for dinner. Surprise me!” Shao Yan winked at her before opening her white dresser and started to rummage through it.
———-
Qi Ling watched Shao Yan take out all of her thick winter clothings and stacked them up on her bed. And then she opened the transparent box on the floor. Shao Yan put the lid aside and started to unload the summer clothes that she had vacuum sealed last year to give away some space in her dresser.
Qi Ling then stayed standing at her doorway and played with her phone again. She really should start deciding on dinner. Her fingers started to scroll through the restaurant list in her food delivery application.
“Should we have Mongolian kebab?” Her thumb kept scrolling through slowly as she voiced out some options for them, “Maybe Sichuan Ma La or Japanese ramen?”
Shao Yan was sorting out the summer clothes on her lap, “Hmm.. Maybe not so much meat? What else did you get there?”
“How about Thunder Tea rice?” Her shoulder was leaning on the door frame, Qi Ling crossed her long legs that were supporting her languid body. Two hands were holding onto the phone and she would sometimes peek at Shao Yan from the corner of her phone.
“En, sounds good,” Shao Yan nodded while answering Qi Ling, but her eyes did not waver from the stack of clothings on her lap, “Any other vegetarian options? The past few days that I spent with Auntie Li and Grandma, I kind of grew fond of vegetarian food now.”
She took a quick glance at Qi Ling, “They are both healthy and tasty at the same time,” before she brought her gaze back to her lap again. Her hand went under the stack of clothing and lifted away the stack of tank tops into her dresser. She went back to sitting on the floor and started to sort through light jackets now.
“Okay, sounds good,” Qi Ling bobbed her head in agreement, and went back to reset her filter and started her search from the beginning.
———-
Energetic, K-Pop songs were playing in the background. Qi Ling was listening to them while she was lounging in the living room earlier, so they were still playing on the bluetooth speaker outside.
“I swear! These boys will be the death of me! All seven of them are super cute, Yan Yan! You should watch their concerts!”
Her feet were tapping along the music. Sometimes, she would hum to some of the songs even though she did not understand the words or how to pronounce it, but she still enjoyed the beats.
“Ah! found it!” Qi Ling clicked on the review section and started to read some of them, “How about Treasure Chest? They are famous for many different dumpling options and listen to this… They are all vegetarian.”
Qi Ling kept scrolling and randomly read through the review section. “Hmm.. many positive reviews,” She mumbled to herself, “Not bad! How come I never heard of it before?”
“Xiao Yan?”
When she did not hear any reply from Shao Yan, she peeked from the corner of her eyes and asked her again, “What do you think?” She saw Shao Yan was scowling at the stack of clothes in front of her. Her forehead was scrunched and she seemed to be in deep thoughts.
“Xiao Yan Yan?” Qi Ling eased off her shoulder from the door frame and started to walk inside the bedroom towards Shao Yan, “What’s wrong?”
When she heard the rustle sound coming near her, Shao Yan snapped back from her daydreaming. She raised her head and saw Qi Ling with her confused face looking down at her.
“Huh?” Shao Yan gave her a blank expression, looking a little lost. She blinked, “What did you say, Ling Ling? Sorry, I was not listening.”
“Well, duh! I could see that,” Qi Ling rolled her eyes, “I was asking how about vegetarian dumplings.”
Shao Yan lifted the stack of jackets off her lap, and crammed them at the side of her only empty space on her bed that was still crowded with winter clothings.
“Yeah, sounds good,” She answered with her back facing Qi Ling. And then Shao Yan abruptly turned around again, “Ling Ling, I forgot to buy some things, I’ll go to the store for a while.”
She crossed the bedroom and grabbed her purse on her study desk. When she saw Qi Ling’s questioning face, she quickly added, “It’s for the trip.”
She waved her hands and started to rattle, “I figure I will need some stuff. You can start dinner without me, I’ll probably be back in one-two hours.”
Shao Yan walked past her and patted Qi Ling on her shoulder, “Thanks, Ling!” Her tiny feet briskly walked to the foyer. Qi Ling heard the door was opened and then closed right away. Her head tilted in confusion as she scanned the bedroom.
“This girl is leaving the room in a mess, and now escaped?” Qi Ling shook her head in astonishment, “The sun must be rising from the west soon for Yan Yan to be this messy.”
She clicked her tongue and walked out of the bedroom before she was tempted to clean it for Shao Yan. She closed the bedroom door behind her with one hand, while her other hand was finalizing her online food order.
“Who needs a best friend to eat dinner with? I have my seven boys with me!” She mumbled before walking back to the living room and blasting her music out loud.
