I Deserve A Second Chance - Chapter 287
— One year later —
!!! CREAK !!!
“Yan Yan?” A head popped in to peek to see if Shao Yan was ready.
Qi Ling saw her reflection from the mirror and paused on her steps when she was walking into the room.
Shao Yan was fixing her earrings and glanced at her from the mirror, “Ling Ling?”
Her soft, dark hair was braided into tiny french style braids that were knotted into a bun by her nape. The white, ivory lace gown that she was wearing, was hugging her petite, slim body so perfectly. The soft material fell on her body and wrapped her like air; accentuating her willow waist.
Each layer of lace, silk and chiffon overlapped with one another and created an intimate silhouette all over the bodice of her dress. The heart shape tube dress enhanced her breast figure stunningly, and the diamonds and crystals that were sewn around her waist just sparkled every time she moved.
The dress complimented her milky skin so well. Shao Yan looked like a lost Greek goddess. Full of charm and able to seduce any mankind.
Qi Ling ran her eyes from her head down to her feet and just kept admiring her.
Hearing no response from her, Shao Yan turned around completely and faced Qi Ling.
The long dress covered her body to her ankle.
Shao Yan had put on ivory wedges with Swarovski crystals decorations; accentuating the tiny feet that she had, making her look more elegant.
The Korean make up artist brushed her final touches on her face before standing on the side to let the two girlfriends talk.
Shao Yan had opted for a simple, natural look for her make up. She especially told the makeup artist that she wanted to look her best, but not too overwhelming. And Qi Ling had to say, the make-up artist had done her best masterpiece.
Shao Yan was transformed into a princess from the ethereal land; dressing in soft clothes and sparkled like the stars.
Qi Ling almost could not recognize this bride.
———-
“Dayummm!” Qi Ling snapped back to reality after Shao Yan called her again, “Missus Li, you just look crazy amazing!”
“I was checking if you need any help,” She paused and then spread both arms wide open, “But look at you! You don’t need anything anymore. Simply perfect!”
Shao Yan smiled; feeling embarrassed at her remarks. She raised her hand and touched one of her earrings with her knuckles. The crystal linear drop earrings glittered upon her touches.
Qi Ling walked over, and took the veil from a velvet chair next to the make up artist, “Yoon Hye, help me with her veil, please?” Qi Ling asked.
The make up artist nodded her head and picked up the other end of the cloth.
The delicate, sheer whisper of the veil was spread gently. The transparent cloth wrapped around her head like a cloud before falling onto her back like waves of waterfall. Shao Yan looked up to see how the cloth would cover her face. Her long eyelashes fluttered curiously.
“Don’t worry, Yan Yan, we won’t mess up your makeup,” Qi Ling teased.
Yoon Hye pursed her lips to avoid laughing. Having worked in Shanghai for a few years, she could pick up some easy Chinese words every now and then. She bent down and picked up a butterfly shape crystal hair clip from her accessory box and finished her touches to the veil.
Qi Ling then grabbed both ends of the material and stepped back slowly to spread the veil out behind Shao Yan.
The afternoon sun was shining towards the transparent window; onto the glamour bride.
Her eyes were twinkling with happiness as Shao Yan saw her best friend, and bridesmaid, fixing her veil for her.
Her small and soft smile appeared on her face; thanking Qi Ling.
Qi Ling decided. She was indeed the perfect bride.
———-
Soft hum of white noise came from the TV outside the room. It seemed that her family was watching a news channel outside.
When Qi Ling was done, Shao Yan heard someone was knocking on her room again. And this time, Risa came peeking from the outside.
Similar to Qi Ling, when Shao Yan lifted her face to look at who was knocking on the door, Risa had to pause and stare at Shao Yan for a few seconds.
“Sis?” Shao Yan called for the second time, “What is it?”
“Oh!” Risa quickly answered while stepping inside and closed the door slowly behind her, “Yan Yan, It’s time.”
Shao Yan felt her heart start to rush like crazy.
Her feet felt weak, and her palm was trembling. She could feel a little cold sweat starting to form on her forehead. Unconsciously, Shao Yan ran her fingertips around the diamond tennis bracelets on her wrist; she was hoping the cold gemstones would be able to calm her rushing heart.
“Don’t be nervous, you look perfect!” Risa quickly added. She was standing next to Shao Yan, towering tall beside her; her hands were on her shoulders.
“En,” Shao Yan nodded, before slowly standing up to her feet and smoothed out her bridal gown, “Shall we?”
Qi Ling walked to the door, and grabbed the bouquet of white calla lilies before walking back to Shao Yan.
“Let’s do this, girl friend!”
“En! Let’s get married!”
———-
“How are you feeling?” Qi Ling whispered while walking beside her towards the wedding hall.
Soft, traditional Balinese music was heard all around the place they were staying at. Their soft steps echoed gently on the white marbled floors.
Along the way, the waiters and waitresses who they met would stop on their tracks to greet them. They held both palms together over their chest and bowed a little; showing them the famous Indonesian hospitality style greetings.
Shao Yan hummed, “En.” And after a while, she also added, “A little.”
Qi Ling chuckled while holding her soft peach dress, “You picked the perfect place to get married. And I have peeked at the decoration outside, your wedding planner, Alfonso, did a great job with the flower gate. Feifei was amazing with her cakes, and your groom is handsome as hell to the point I hate you. So, don’t worry, you will do great, my darling!”
Shao Yan could not help to laugh at her words. Her heart felt a little less heavy after the laugh.
“Thank you, Ling Ling.”
Shao Yan paused for a while, trying to gather her thoughts.
“You know…”
“All my life, I have never had the courage to dream big. All I have ever wanted was a simple life with my family, with all my friends. Nothing complicated.”
“But then Li Xiqing came along.”
“He gave me the courage to hope. He weaves the dream along with me. He gave me the courage to be myself. He learned about my past, and he helped me to heal. I learned about his past, and he gave me everlasting securities.”
