I Didn’t Save You To Get Proposed To - Chapter 66
Ixion handed a handkerchief and grinned.
“No, it’s not about you…… ”
“Oh, I know. It’s not about me.”
“Once I got rejected, the regrets about not having it grew a bit. It’s just a story about my life.”
“Yeah. It’s a remorse for one’s life. It’s okay to do it anytime.”
I quickly wiped the area around my mouth and the table with the handkerchief, then regained my composure and answered nonchalantly.
It seemed that this man had decided to flirt freely in the name of ‘friend’.
“More than anything else, I just liked that you cared about me that much.”
“Yes?”
“Thank you for thinking of me, Elsia. In fact, I was more moved by you visiting me than His Majesty’s visit to me.”
“Huh….”
“You are really… ”
Ixion looked at me quietly and muttered lowly.
“You are a person who I cannot help but be amazed at.”
I thought that there would be another story about ‘the only friend’ if I reacted with a fuss, so I made a casual expression.
“So, why did the Emperor summon the Prince?”
“Ah, it’s a matter of departure.”
“Again?”
“It’s not a very urgent battle, and I can stay in the capital for the time being as my leg is injured. We’ll go to the capital together, so let’s go to the library you want together.”
“…..”
In other words, it meant going to war again after his legs were healed.
I didn’t wonder where it was, and I had no intention of following him, but I was strangely worried about him.
When he left the conquest of Artize, it felt a little different in many ways from what I thought lightly with the mind of ‘Of course he would win’.
“Isn’t there another place you want to visit?”
“Well… … Not really.”
“It doesn’t have to be the capital city. If you want to go back to your hometown, Artize is fine….”
“N, no.”
I shook my head. It was much more important to stop the demonization than that now.
“I don’t think there is any need to go.”
At my resolute words, Ixion did not bring up Artize any more.

“Okay, when will the answer come?”
“It is said that His Majesty has called Prince Ixion. So, if you wait a little…”
“That was yesterday’s answer! Today?”
“Artize is so far from the capital….”
“Didn’t you still send messengers every day?”
Ramon, the Crown Prince of the Eastheim Empire and the current commander of the conquest of Artize, stumbled in impatience.
He wanted to get out of this gloomy land of Artize and return to the Empire as soon as possible.
He was in a very good mood when he led the Imperial Army to Artizee, which Ixion had conquered.
There was no battle going on anyway, and his basic system was set up by Ixion.
Ramon was satisfied that the ‘Conquest of Artize’ would be recorded as his own merit if only a manager suitable for his taste was set after seeing the situation in moderation.
He is regarded as a stable successor, but he has never made any military achievements such as territorial expansion or subjugation of monsters. And that was his subtle complex.
It was because he thought that his popularity in the public would always be lost to the third prince, Ixion, who was handsome and would return victorious if he only went out on the battlefield.
“Please send Ixion as soon as possible. Send one more messenger today.”
But he no longer had any regrets about the occupied territory that was so desperately named after him.
Now that it doesn’t matter if it’s added to Ixion’s achievements, he wants to leave this cursed land quickly.
He looked out the window as the rain was pouring down, and his body trembled once.
“This is no place for people….”
Outside the window, Artize’s palace was visible. The owner of the royal palace that also served as the first temple was no longer there.
The only remaining royal family was Elsia, who had already been adopted by the Imperial noble family.
Yet the palace, as if cursed, did not open the door to its new owner.
Not only that, but strange and ominous noises would be heard on such gloomy nights in the royal palace without an owner.
Everyone used to stay up all night in anxiety, saying it was the cry of a huge monster.
“How did that guy come to be in a place like this….”
“The prince only fought battles and did not rule, so he doesn’t know the situation well.”
At first, tired of the tyranny of King Deccan, the people of Artize, who were obedient to the new conqueror, gradually began to voice uneasy voices.
According to them, because the palace had an altar of an ancient temple, the unopened gates meant that calamity was coming to the land.
In the already chaotic post-war atmosphere, public sentiment was fluctuating, and the conqueror, who had to solve problems calmly, was also confused by anxiety and fear, so Artize was literally a melting pot of confusion.
“No, I can’t.”
Ramon rolled his anxious eyes and grabbed the pen.
“It’s simply out of control, and by saying things like this, neither His Majesty nor Ixion take me seriously. I have to tell them all this in detail.”
“Are, are you talking about in all circumstances?”
“Obviously there is no one in the royal palace, but Artize’s palace won’t open its doors to us, and I must report that it’s impossible to occupy this place unless the damn Artizee royal family is present.”
“But it can be taken as giving up the occupied territories.”
“The Empire is wide enough. It’s okay if we don’t have Artize.”
Ramon exhaled harshly as he scribbled his opinions down on the parchment in beautiful handwriting.
“I, Crown Prince Ramon Eastheim, personally came to stay and observe, and as a result, this land is not suitable for conquest due to the peculiarity of the first temple….”
It was then.
“Kuuuueeee!”
Another ominous roar ripped through the sky from outside the window, and Ramon wrapped his hands around his head.
***
He didn’t have to do that, but Ixion came out of the barracks with his crutches on, saying that he would take me.
“I can really go alone. Besides, you’re injured right now. I’m really okay.”
“It’s because I’m not okay.”
When I came out of the barracks, the loud noise of the outdoor banquet was heard even louder.
As I was arguing with him, I found a strange sight in a rather remote forest.
“Prince, over there …….”
A few noble lords were gathered in an inconspicuous place.
Ixion’s legs were uncomfortable, so he chose a flat path, not a steep shortcut, but it was a secluded place that he would never have known otherwise.
“You’d rather just pass by.”
“Yes?”
“It’s Brother Gerd.”
When I said that, I pulled my neck out and took a closer look at the crowd.
Among the few lords, there was a man with brown hair and blue eyes with a hazy look.
Now the Empire had three princes.
There was Prince Ramon, the Crown Prince, Gerd, who was called an idiot despite carrying his noble mother’s family on his back, and Ixion.
The 2nd prince, Gerd, was often avoided by people due to his bad words and deeds, but he had a stronger foundation than he had now because of his biological mother, a noble’s backup.
“There’s nothing good about being tangled with.”
Ixion said in an uncharacteristically fed-up tone. I nodded my head and looked away.
No one knows, but I, who knew the original story, knew something about him.
He was dealing with drugs that were tightly controlled by the Empire, and he himself was an addict.
It’s obvious what he’s doing in secret now.
‘Yes, let’s not get entangled.’
I left the place quickly with Ixion.
***
“That woman…… Is it the woman that Ixion proposed to marry?”
Gerd asked, grasping his dizzy mind.
“Yes. She is the Princess of Artize.”
“Obviously she doesn’t look like that.”
“Her look has changed a lot. She’s pretty decent.”
Again, one of the noble lords, whose eyes were opened, responded.
As if displeased, Gerd slapped one of the servants who was fidgeting next to him with his anger.
“It’s annoying. Did you see His Majesty’s expression? He already had a face that was anxious because he wanted to be brought into the imperial family.”
“It’s said that she saved his life.”
“It would be nice if Ixion could destroy Artize, but that monster can’t do that……. Damn, there are rumors that she is a saint.”
Gerd grinded his teeth. The Empress was not the only one who was wary of Ixion.
He thought that the blunt, politically powerless Ixion would never be able to win a position within the imperial family.
After all, it was because half of his blood was of commoners.
However, it is a different story when a woman who will give him wings was attached to him.
He was intrigued, but not particularly, when rumors circulated that he had proposed to the fallen princess.
But he didn’t seem to be able to just relax now.
He developed a feeling of inferiority from Ixion from some time ago.
It’s not the same as not being able to challenge the throne because of the power of the empress because he’s not of the main line, but it’s because he was always labeled as a fool, and Ixion was the most popular with the people.
When Ixion was young, Ixion was bullied as he was the child of a commoner, but from some point on, Ixion’s physique improved so much that Gerd couldn’t even beat him to his heart’s content.
“I can’t be pushed by that half lowly blood guy.”
It wasn’t good news for him that the woman who Ixion was going to marry had gained approval from the Emperor.
Of the three princes, he couldn’t stand the fact that he alone had a poor reputation and a low status in the imperial family.
Anyway, Elsia now had the last name of a high-ranking aristocrat called Evgeny, and the public was impressed by the topic of her being a saint.
If the Emperor’s favor was added to that, there was a possibility that territories or titles would be given to Ixion who was combined with her.
“Don’t worry.”
A noble Lord, who was sitting next to him, responded quickly.
“To be honest……What power does the Emperor have? No matter how good she looks to His Majesty, it will be of no use.”
The real power was with the Empress. Gerd frowned and nodded his head.
As he said, the Empress, who was wary of Ixion, could not give Elsia any power. She will step on her before Elsia gets up properly.
“Yes. I’ll have to trust her Empress.”
Gerd muttered, unable to hide his displeasure.
“It’s annoying, but you don’t have to step up first.”
