I Don’t Dare to Oppose a Protagonist Anymore - Chapter 68
Chapter 68
Was the craven idiot blind? Ji Quan was clearly holding the Huangfu token. But Yin Jia was waving at his servants to attack Lin Xiao and take Ji Quan?
There were two possibilities…One, Yin Jia’s brain was made of stone. The second, he truly didn’t recognize the Huangfu token. But no matter which was correct, now Lin Xiao and Ji Quan were going to have to battle.
Ji Quan’s original intent in taking out his token was to avoid a fight with the Yin family. However, Yin Jia’s special brand of stupidity rendered the token useless. Ji Quan’s even temperament finally tipped over into fury.
Ji Quan’s strength completely surpassed Lin Xiao’s expectations. He didn’t need Lin Xiao’s help at all. Instead, Ji Quan fended off everyone himself with his bare hands. All the while Yin Jia continued to shout, “Don’t hurt my beauty! Don’t touch a hair, or I’ll kill you!”
Hearing their master’s words, the servants looked at each other. Who would dare to attack Ji Quan? They slowed down, unsure and reluctant. Ji Quan did not back down, however. Taking out his own qi, he swung it around, beating them down one by one.
Stunned by the scene unfolding in front of him, Lin Xiao stood still.
After sweeping through the servants, Ji Quan stood in front of Yin Jia, a bland expression on his face and still holding his qi. Yin Jia still thought Ji Quan a new kind of delicacy. But after seeing Ji Quan in action, Yin Jia’s legs were trembling.
Still, he thought to himself, no, no, no, he was a Yin family son! Who dared to defy him?! His own cultivation was not low, and he had his own qi, given to him by his father. He would not lose to this beauty!
Yin Jia was sure in his assumption that he would win. Then he would tie this man to a bed, and play hard with him. And when he tired of fucking him, he’d kill him or give him to his men. A nasty smile lifted Yin Jia’s mouth as he took out his qi.
Seeing Yin Jia’s scuzzy smirk, Lin Xiao thought he could read Yin Jia’s mind. Did that fool really think he could defeat Ji Quan? No, Ji Quan would defeat him as he had the others. Lin Xiao did feel a little grieved that Ji Quan had left him none to fight…
Ji Quan could have allowed at least one for him…
It was a little lonesome standing next to Ji Quan…
Yin Jia made his confident attack, and was promptly knocked down by Ji Quan. After doing so, Ji Quan stepped back, still uneasy. His face cold, he said: “You look down on the Huangfu family? Even after I showed my token, you ignore it and attack me?”
Watching, Lin Xiao almost choked. A normally calm person will became terrible when angered. Ji Quan was being a good example of that…Or at least Lin Xiao had never seen Ji Quan act like this before.
Yin Jia, down on the ground, could only whine wordlessly. Ji Quan, seeing him scared, only wanted to trample him down harder.
Lin Xiao was tempted to start clapping. That degenerate, he would be lucky if Ji Quan didn’t kill him.
Just as Ji Quan’s leg was pulling up, a middle-aged man hurried over. As soon as the older man stretched out his hand, Ji Quan lowered his leg away from the gormless Yin Jia.
The middle-aged man should be the head of the Yin family in this city.
Silently, Lin Xiao moved forward to stand side-by-side with Ji Quan. Who knew the man’s intention? The family head could be as mentally deficient as the son. Even as strong as Ji Quan was, it was doubtful the two of them together could defeat the Yin lord.
The older man lifted Yin Jia off the ground. Seeing his father, Yin Jia started blubbering: “Father, give me justice! They beat me! Out in the open! Is there no laws in this city?!”
The laws of the city? Is it to rob and oppress everyone, grabbing whoever you wanted? Lin Xiao’s eyes almost rolled out of his head.
Yin Jia’s father looked at his son, and he was indeed angry that Yin Jia had been bullied. But, according to the servant’s report, his son had been brothering someone with the Huangfu family token. If it was anyone else, the father would have caught the person for Yin Jia to take out his anger on.
But if it’s someone from the Huangfu family…
The Yin patriarch squinted, he needed to see the token himself to determine its authenticity. He glanced at Ji Quan, then plastering on an oily smile, asked, “Could you allow me to look at your Huangfu token?”
Ji Quan nonchalantly took his token yet again, showing it to the father. The father examined the token carefully. He was an informed man. The token did appear to be from the eminent Huangfu family…He believed his eyes did not deceive him.
Damn it.
The person in front of him was an Huangfu family son, and Yin Jia had provoked him? Would this person want to kill his son? The father was murderous just thinking of it. But he immediately pushed the instinct down.
No…he can’t kill the man in front of him. There’s been such happenings before. Another family had taken out a Huangfu family member. In retaliation, the Huangfu family sent some cultivators who left no harbor for that family to shelter in, completely ending them.
What if his family suffered the same treatment? He didn’t assume the rest of the Yin family, who were far away, would send anyone to save him. Recognizing the grim facts, the father suddenly slapped Yin Jia.
His father’s palm efficiently snapped across Yin Jia’s cheek, and he piteously covered the side of his face, not understanding why his father would hit him.
So the father is smarter than the son, Lin Xiao thought.
“I apologize, Huangfu brother, my son is too ignorant. I’m sorry to have caused you any trouble. Come with me to my house, and you can pick a few treasures.” The father intended to appease and compensate Ji Quan with property.
The father was still apprehensive, in truth. The Huangfu family were used to possessing heaven and earth. If the Huangfu son scorned his offer, and insisted on punishing Yin Jia, there’d be a fight. He might die, or be guilty of killing the Huangfu son. It would descend into a life or death struggle. He’d only be able to hope his son and the other Yin children somehow escaped.
Ji Quan, for his part, had no intention of pursuing the matter. He thought it meaningless to chase after others. And he also guessed at the father’s thoughts. Ji Quan wanted to avoid a bloody fight as much as the father did.
After all, anxious people often did things that couldn’t be taken back.
He wasn’t tempted by the offer of treasures, though. His family was indeed extremely rich, and there wasn’t much he hadn’t seen. But noticing Lin Xiao’s bright eyes, and thinking how he had rushed to help him, Ji Quan agreed to the Yin father’s proposal.
“Very well, lead the way,” said Ji Quan.
The Yin patriarch’s mood lightened. Ji Quan agreeing meant the matter would not be pursued any further. The Yin father knew what was what, so he headed for the Yin family house…
When he had heard the Yin father’s proposal, Lin Xiao hadn’t been unable to restrain his heart. This Yin family would possess most the city’s wealth. If he could find the heaven spirit grass in their treasury, he could return to the medicine court early.
But…Lin Xiao bemoaned to himself. The invitation was to Ji Quan, and he hadn’t really assisted Ji Quan at all. It was too embarrassing to ask to go with Ji Quan.
So Lin Xiao said: “Brother, since there’s nothing now, I’ll say goodbye.” And he turned to leave.
Ji Quan stopped him. “I haven’t thanked you for your help. Come with me now.”
“No, there’s really nothing I did,” Lin Xiao replied, self-conscious.
“You stood beside me. You would have aided me…how could you not come with me to the house?” Ji Quan privately considered Lin Xiao’s behavior rare.
Hearing Ji Quan’s words, Lin Xiao did not refuse any longer.
After all, he really did want to go the Yin family house, the heaven spirit grass being the only thing on his mind.
……
Walking behind the Yin father, it didn’t take long for them to come to a building.
Sure enough, it was an imposing structure. Almost the same size as the Lin’s family. Lin Xiao made a noise of admiration.
Looking back, the Yin father asked Ji Quan: “Who is this next to you?”
“My friend,” said Ji Quan casually.
“Oh.” The father didn’t inquire further, taking Ji Quan and Lin Xiao up the footsteps.
Reaching out and pushing the door open, the father gestured in, “All my family’s possessions are here.”
Lin Xiao’s eyes widened, he saw many precious things, like grasses, medicines, and more. Ji Quan, however, remained indifferent.
“You can pick what you like. Just leave this family a little, after all, we have so many people.” The Yin father, insincerely smiling.
Lin Xiao disdained the father in his heart. Trying to sound poor, but who knew how many more treasures the family had hidden away. Casually letting them choose…
Probably to the Yin patriarch, these objects didn’t even matter.
Having the father’s permission, Lin Xiao didn’t need to be polite. He entered the room side by side with Ji Quan, and started hunting for his special grass.
But after searching exhaustively, Lin Xiao had found two rare grasses, but not a leaf of heaven spirit grass…
Collecting the grasses, Lin Xiao concluded what he was looking for wasn’t there. And it wasn’t like he could go to the father and ask if they had it, or if he could have it. Even if they did have it, the father still wouldn’t tell Lin Xiao the truth.
Lin Xiao wasn’t a Huangfu family member. He’s only there because the Yin father didn’t want to offend Ji Quan any further.
Lin Xiao combed through the room one last time, finding nothing else that he wanted. He thought to wait for Ji Quan to finish, but Ji Quan was already bored, idly playing with a dan medicine.
Right…He’d forgotten these treasures wouldn’t mean much to Ji Quan.
Feeling Lin Xiao’s gaze, Ji Quan asked: “Pick well?”
“Yes,” Lin Xiao nodded.
“Then let’s go,” Ji Quan headed for the door.
Lin Xiao followed close behind.
Seeing that Ji Quan and his friend were done, the Yin father greeted them with perfunctory courtesy, asking Ji Quan to stay and eat a meal with the family. But Ji Quan promptly rejected the offer.
Pulling out Lin Xiao with him, Ji Quan justifiably did not relax as they walked away.
Who knew if the Yin family would send someone to follow them?
Finally, when they were out of the city, Lin Xiao contemplated Ji Quan.
Should he tell Ji Quan his true identity?
