I Don’t Want A Prince In My Life - Chapter 15. Life In The Forest
I was sent to live with the witch for a while to learn how to use my powers.
The place was in the forest in Theophilus.
Albert was reluctant when he heard that we were leaving the royal capital, but after knowing that the witch’s power I have could cause harm to those around me if it got out of control, he quietly backed down.
I didn’t understand why he reacted in such a way when I was probably just an eyesore in his vicinity.
He also said that he didn’t want my whereabouts to be lost, so he ended up staying in The Royal Forest on the outskirts of the capital.
The Royal Forest was, as the name suggests, a forest owned by the Royal Families. It was mainly used for private hunting, so access by the general public was strictly restricted.
I told him that if his powers got out of control in such a forest, that would be a problem.
In the end, Albert was the one who pushed me over the edge, and the witch also had a dumbfounded look on her face.
Looking at her reaction, it seemed that my trip to the Royal Forest was not a harmonious one.
I wonder what Albert was thinking.
He seemed to have come to his senses, but it’s hard to say if his attitude was the same as before.
It may be a side effect from Serge’s words, but his different attitude was unsettling.
So I was relieved to be living in the forest, albeit not too far from the capital.
It was a shame that I could no longer work as a translator, but I’ve heard that my mother will be taken care of at the castle, so for the moment I no longer had to worry about our lives.
Now all I had to do was learn how to use my powers as a witch…
Bam!
“Hee-hee, I’m home!”
As if to shatter my pensive thoughts, there was a crashing sound that made me want to brace my head.
It’s midnight.
The witch, who called herself Leili when I came to live with her, came home drunk every night like this.
“Oh, for heaven’s sake, don’t bang on the door every time. Can’t you just come home like a normal person?”
I didn’t know how many times I’ve said that, but Leili looked at me, her white skin flushed with pleasure.
I was not sure how many times I’ve had to do this, but I was pretty sure it had been for a while.
I’ve been living with this witch for about ten days now.
However, even though we lived together, she was mostly away, and in reality she was just absentminded without spirit in a hunting lodge in the forest.
The hunting lodge, as expected from a royal property, was well equipped.
In fact, there was a detached palace where the nobility and royalty rested while hunting, but it was too big for the two of us to occupy, so we decided to live in this hunting lodge.
Albert said he would send a servant, but the witch was adamant that there was no point in staying in the forest if we had one.
As for me, I was able to leave my mother in the care of others and I didn’t have to earn money anymore, so I spent my days very slowly.
Every morning I would get up at sunrise, draw water from the well and wash my face. During the day, I washed, cleaned and prepared my own meals. As for the rest of the time, I would spend it exploring the forest.
About once a week, food was brought in from outside the forest by a person who was specially assigned to do so. The only time I opened my mouth was when Leili came home in the middle of the night or when I talked to a spirit who couldn’t speak.
“Leili, how long do you want me to stay here like this? Aren’t you going to stop Angelica from doing what she wants?”
Finally, today, I asked Leili a question I had been wanting to for a long time.
She said she wanted me to learn the art of being a witch, but she didn’t want to teach me anything.
I just lived peacefully.
I didn’t know if I really wanted to do this, but I couldn’t help but feel unsettled as a result of my leisurely schedule.
In response to my question, Leili looked at me with her big, silvery eyes.
She was a witch of indeterminate age.
Even though we lived together, I surprisingly knew so little about her.
“Oh, so you’re going to fight the witch who cast you out?”
Leili said teasingly.
Albert must have told her about me, because she knew a lot about my situation.
I didn’t tell her what happened afterwards, but she seemed to be able to talk to the furball, so she knew most of the details.
She also knew that I didn’t want to have anything to do with my country anymore.
“Tsk! That’s not why I’m here…”
Now that I lived in the forest, it was even harder to get information about Percival than before.
I didn’t want to care about what would happen to that country, but it was strange to live alone in peace and quiet like this.
“Why do I have to become a witch to fight Angelica? Why can’t it be you?”
When I said this back to her, she laughed with her mouth wide open in amusement.
“Ha-ha-ha! There’s no reason for that. I healed the boy because I was related to the royal family of Theophilus. I don’t know anything about Percival.”
That’s what I’ve been told, and there’s nothing I could say to make it right.
“You’ve been thinking too much, you know. You’ve been through a lot and you need to take it easy.”
“But you haven’t taught me anything about how to become a witch, have you? Isn’t my life in danger if I let it go on like this?”
I shouted at her, but she changed her tone and looked at me as if she was trying to help me.
“You’re in too much of a hurry. You’re working too hard, too fast. That’s why you can’t see what you’re supposed to see.”
“What are you…”
“Well, I’m going to bed now. They say lack of sleep is the enemy of beauty.”
“What’s beauty got to do with witchcraft?”
“Oh, yes, yes. Yes, it does. So get some sleep.”
And so I went to sleep feeling suspicious.
