I Don’t Want A Prince In My Life - Chapter 16. Furball Changes
“Hey, you’ve put on some weight, haven’t you?”
When I said this, the furball puffed up its enlarged body and expressed its regret.
But since I first saw it at the castle, its body has definitely grown to the size of my face, and it’s even added a long, thin tail with a furball-like tip.
At first I couldn’t make out his eyes because they were buried in the fur, but recently I’ve been able to see them.
They are surprisingly round and the same colour as mine, light purple.
“I’m sorry.”
I gently stroke its body to soothe its fury.
Its smooth fur felt warm to the touch.
Suddenly I remembered the time when I was a Princess.
It’s been less than two years, but it still felt like a long time ago.
It was the fashion for noblewomen to have pets.
As women were not free to go out, they tended to keep their hobbies inside the house.
And the fashion at that time was having pets.
Some people had cats for a long time, others brought rare creatures from the new continent to show off to others.
My father had bought a cat for Angelica.
He asked me if I wanted one too, but I said no.
I thought it would be a pity for me to have a pet.
I didn’t know how to love, and I didn’t think I could love a pet.
While I was lost in thought, the furball wagged its tail as if it was trying to attract me.
It was like a toy to attract the attention of a cat.
I couldn’t help laughing at it.
“Ah-ha! You’re the one who’s going to babysit me?”
–Oh, when was the last time I felt so relaxed?
Ever since Angelica came into my life, I have been in a constant state of restlessness.
I could only watch helplessly as Lionel’s heart fell away and Percival’s society was ruined.
Of course, I tried in my own way to warn Angelica and the men with whom she was associated.
But no one would listen to me. Some of them accused me of being jealous of my sister, which was not true.
I was so exhausted that by the time my engagement was annulled and I was thrown out of the house, I think I had given up even thinking about it.
It was impossible that I was not my father’s daughter, but I could not find the strength to prove it or to put right what was wrong.
From that time on, I had lost my identity.
I think I was poisoned by Angelica, just like all the other men.
I wanted to keep my broken heart, so that I couldn’t even think properly anymore.
‘Well, well. You’re smiling at last.”
Suddenly I heard a voice behind me.
I turned around and saw that it was Leili, who was supposed to be out.
“How long have you been there?”
I started to back away.
There was a wall behind me, so I couldn’t get any distance from her.
“Now. I can see that your strength is much improved.”
“My strength?”
“Yes. Look at that.”
Then she pointed towards the furball.
The furball, which had been growing slowly, had now closed its eyes as if it was holding something back, and had grown a full size, with every hair on its body standing up.
“What? What’s the matter with you?”
I panicked at the furball’s change.
I panicked, but he didn’t have time to react to my voice, closing his eyes tightly.
“Are you in pain? Are you in pain? Come on, do something!”
I rushed to Leili.
As far as I knew, the witch was the only one who could do anything about this furball.
But she remained calm, as if mocking my panic.
“You’ve become more human now, haven’t you? When I first met you, I thought you were like a doll.”
Leili said, stroking her chin and mumbling something unimportant.
She looked like an old woman, and the gap between her appearance and that of an old woman was terrible.
“I don’t care about that!”
“Oh, come on, calm down. There’s nothing wrong with it, it’s just that the spirit is trying to regain its true form.”
“Its true form?”
“Yes. Well, If you’re worried about it, let it out through that window, because it’ll be cramped in this house.”
Without knowing why, I did as the witch said.
It was too big for me to hold, but the witch didn’t explain anything too well.
As soon as the furball was out, there was a loud explosion and a gust of wind that almost blew me away.
I couldn’t keep my eyes open.
I clung to the door to keep from being blown away.
I couldn’t understand what was going on at all.
The gust of wind stopped soon after and I opened my eyes fearfully.
The furball I had been holding was nowhere to be seen.
Outside the hunting lodge, there was so much smoke that I couldn’t even see what was going on around me.
I strain my eyes, desperately trying to find the furball.
It might have been blown away by the gust of wind.
I hope it’s stuck in a tree somewhere when I go to look for it.
While I was thinking about this, the dust cloud began to subside.
The grass-covered ground had been gouged out. In places, trees had been knocked down, their branches broken off.
I wondered how I had survived.
“That’s very flamboyant. I had to use a lot of energy.”
Leili came out of the hut, looking not the least bit nervous.
It seemed that it was thanks to her that I and the hut was safe.
The only part of the ground around the hut that had not been gouged out remained intact.
I opened my mouth to ask for an explanation, but it was left open.
This was because a white monster appeared out of the dust cloud.
With its white fur and white wings, it was as much a creature of fairy tales as a witch.
It was a griffin……?
It wasn’t until some time later that I noticed the large beaked, winged creature had light purple eyes.
