“I… Don’t Want to Work Anymore” I Quit Being an Adventurer. Even if You Treat Me Better Now, I Won’t Do It. I Will Never Work Again. - Chapter 15
Chapter 15 – The White Royal Family Wants to Get Along (1)
At opposite direction from Viscount Lardrich.
In the luxurious and dazzling carriage that races through the dark night, accompanied by the old man, the old man saw something very troubling.
“Princess, what is that?”
“Hehehe, isn’t it good? It’s cool and very light. I got it from Lord Larr or something! I’ll give one to my sister.”
The cheerful princess swung the mysterious object around. The dancing, blonde youngest daughter Lula, who was only 12 years old, smiled innocently thinking about her sister.
With his intellectual appearance and appraisal ability, the old man had let his guard down thinking that there was nothing in this town that would catch his attention. However, he was pushed into a situation where he had to be cautious by someone or something now.
“Hoho, let me have a look too, princess.”
“Of course, I’ll give you yours next, old man.”
Although he kept his composure, he quickly used his danger assessment magic “Scouter” without chanting to determine if the one of the two objects she was given was hazardous.
“Danger level 1.”
It was safe. He understood why it had slipped through the security check.
The mysterious object that he had never seen before only emitted cool air, so it didn’t seem to be dangerous, but there was still an inexplicable sense of unease.
“This old man also understands how wonderful this item is. It’s very mysterious.”
It seems the princess also felt an inexplicable unease.
“What’s so mysterious about it?”
“Hehehe.”
Unfortunately, he doesn’t seem willing to tell her. His round eyes indicate that he wants to surprise her.
“If I leave it like this, I won’t be able to sleep because of my curiosity. Princess, may I borrow both items while you are sleeping?”
“Really, you are so greedy, old man. I’ll give one to my sister, so don’t break it.”
Finally, he collected the suspicious item and breathed a sigh of relief.
“Thank you, Princess.”
“Please take care of your old body.”
Upon returning, the old man went straight to the Royal Magic Technology Research Lab and complained to the lanky, unkempt young genius craftsman, Herman.
“Ladrich Viscount, breaking the rules again. No room for carelessness or mistakes. This is the mysterious magical tool that was directly handed to Princess Lula at the party.”
The staff looked curiously inside the tube that was handed to them. Inside the tube, something that looked like small, transparent ice balls were stuffed, and the wind passed through the gaps.
“Oh, is this the new magical tool? I didn’t know about such a rule, and if it’s for the newly-rich nobles, they may not know either.”
“A noble should know. More importantly, find out who made it and from which workshop it came from as soon as possible.”
The genius craftsman’s eyes gleamed like a child who had just acquired a new toy. It seemed to be a type that was quite rare even among experts.
“This? It’s terribly light. What is this??? Let’s disassemble it…”
“Stop it, because the princess will be angry with you.”
The old man watched the craftsman examine it with various specialized tools.
“Did the craftsman carve the magic stone into a tube shape and directly engrave the spell formula? Is it a devil’s tool? No, it’s also a disposable special-grade relic?”
The craftsman began to grow pale gradually.
Scratching his head, he started to groan.
“What’s wrong?”
“It’s not here. What’s happening? The thing that should be there isn’t anywhere! Why?”
In a hurry, he rummaged through the documents on the desk, causing the test tube to make a rattling sound, spilling its contents out, dyeing the documents pink.
The old man thought of something and began speaking hesitantly about the darkness of those in power.
“Well, it’s not really something to be proud of, but there are times when I don’t put my signature on my work. I thought that rising noble was a fool, but if it had no signature, then that person must be an exclusive magic tool craftsman. So, tonight’s incident was a warning? Or a greeting?”
“No, it’s not.”
The craftsman frowned at the off-topic conversation, perhaps because it hurt his pride as a young genius, rather than speaking to the old man.
“Then, what is it?”
“There’s no spell formula. Furthermore, there’s not even a magic stone as an energy source!!! What’s going on?!”
The old man couldn’t follow the bizarre contents. As the appraisal device spit out the results on a roll of paper, he tore it open and read that it only contained Ice Ball (LV 1) and Wind (LV 1). What did it mean?
He pondered for a long time, but couldn’t wait any longer and asked the question.
“In other words?”
“This is not a magic tool from the world we know. It’s a structure that harbors Ice Ball (LV 1) and Wind (LV 1). Unfortunately, that’s all I can say.”
The next morning, when he reported the story to the princess, an answer came back easily due to the flexible thinking of a child leading to the correct answer.
“Oh old man! That’s a basic magic that has a long-lasting effect. Surely, it’s the work of the great wizard-sama.”
“Well done, your highness. However, isn’t that a bit off? It’s incredibly mature magic used in a very childish way.”
The princess tilted her head.
“Then, maybe someone asked them to do it?”
“That’s possible. Shall we head to the dining hall for a meal?”
As she turned around, her skirt fluttered.
“Yes, I’ll surprise my older sister.”
With a smile, the old man’s head was filled with the possibility of a great wizard behind Viscount Lardrich, and he thought about his future strategy. First of all, they needed to investigate his background. If possible, they would like to bring him over to their side.
There was lively conversation in the dining hall.
“Big sister, I have a present for you.”
“Oh my! What happened, Lula?”
In the end, the mysterious magic tool became the possession of their mother due to the older sister’s reluctance.
Lula basked in the cold wind of Aix’s magic tool (temporary) and thought of her feelings.
“By the way, what kind of person is the great wizard-sama?”
Is he an old man with a beard, a witch, a cool young man, or perhaps a fairy from another world?
The young girl dreamily gazed at the elaborate picture book.
