I Got Transmigrated into a Horror Game Instead - Chapter 10
The carriage stopped and Enoch got off first. Trying to escort Rachel out of habit, he checked his clothes and stiffened. Rachel handed her luggage to him.
“Welcome! I think it’s your first time here with Rachel?”
With dim eyes, Rachel got out of the carriage and glanced at the silhouette of the approaching man, and then immediately switched to a smiling face.
‘Despicable.’
“Hello.”
“It’s been a long time. You’re a lady now!”
Rachel just laughed. She was used to dealing with people she didn’t want to face.
“Thank you.”
It wasn’t hard for her to say things she didn’t mean.
“Rachel, is it your first time here?”
“Yes.”
“By the way, brother, why are you so quiet today?”
“It’s because I’m tired.”
“I didn’t even think of that. You both must be tired so rest until dinner is ready. Butler, guide these two.”
Paris Emporus did not even spare a glance at Enoch who was disguised as a woman. He must have thought he was an ordinary maid.
They were then escorted to their rooms. So far, it wasn’t much different from before.
But when they entered the room, Enoch looked around and said in a lowered voice.
“I can feel the power of black magic.”
“Are you saying that my brother has his hands on black magic!”
“That’s not it. I didn’t feel the unique energy of a black magician from him.”
It meant that he was not a black magician but that he was related to one.
“Rachel’s prediction may be true.”
“Why?”
“Because you need a sacrifice to perform black magic.”
Black magic refers to making a contract with a devil to borrow its power. That’s why an offering to the devil is needed.
Blood, heart, soul, wealth and grudges. Wealth depends on the devil you sign with, but in general, humans give greater power than those of animals.
“I heard that you gain more power when you kill someone who harbors emotions like fear, sadness, or anger rather than happy people.”
“Do you think my brother is going to kill me to sacrifice Rachel?”
“It’s possible.”
Confused for a while, time passed.
The butler started guiding them to the dining room saying that dinner was ready.
The butler tried to send Enoch, disguised as a maid, to the servants’ dining area, but Rachel whined like a childish girl.
“I don’t want to be separated from Annie.”
“All right. I will send her meal to her room later.”
It was normal that owners and their servants did not sit at the same table. The butler gave Enoch a look that said to know her place, but Enoch ignored him.
‘I’m here again.’
Rachel clenched her fists.
The dining room where Henry consumed poison and died. Neither the white statue of the woman nor the food on the table caught her eye.
The only thing that she could clearly see was the face of Paris Emporus who was sitting at the head of the table with a smile. It was horrifying to see him smile like that moments before he would kill his brother.
She and Henry sat in their appointed seats as guided. Enoch stood side by side among the other waiting maids.
“Eat a lot.”
Steaming soup was placed in front of them.
Henry, who had previously argued that his brother couldn’t possibly do it, took a spoon and stirred the soup. Soon after he raised the spoon and she thought that he was about to bring the soup to his lips, he then said.
“Brother, is this mushroom soup?”
“Yes, why?”
“What kind of mushroom is it?”
“Do I have to know that?”
“I recently ate mushrooms and got an upset stomach. Hey, come here.”
Henry suddenly called the maid standing behind him. His designated maid approached quietly.
“Taste it.”
“Pardon?”
“What are you doing? Henry!”
Paris Emporus raised his voice. Serving food to a maid during a meal defied common sense, but it was strange that he would be angry at him. Even more so because he looked like he was just in a good mood.
He answered his brother’s question.
“I’m just curious. Hey, what are you doing? Didn’t I tell you to hurry up and taste it? If it’s hard to eat, I’ll feed you.”
He took a spoonful of the soup and shoved it into the maid’s mouth. Rachel was at a loss for words at the atrocious sight. The baron shouted.
“You b*stard!”
‘What did the maid do to you!’
As Rachel feared, the maid grabbed her chest and collapsed. Henry squeezed his eyes shut as he watched the maid fall in front of him.
“I thought it wasn’t……! How could you do this to me!”
He jumped up from his seat and cried out. Drawn from the innermost part of his heart, his piercing voice echoed throughout the spacious dining room.
“It’s all for the revival of the family. I wish you had just eaten the soup and died nicely.”
Paris Emporus mentioned the death of his brother as if it were nothing.
“What does the revival of the family have to do with my death?”
“You could have just died without knowing anything, what a shame.”
The baron got up and walked towards his brother. Rachel glanced at Enoch who was focused on the situation. He was checking the layout in the dining room.
The baron’s feet stopped in front of Henry. About three steps away. Then shrugged his shoulders.
“It’s not a big deal. I’m just doing what I should have done 15 years ago. I’m trying to kill you because I worry that you’ll get in the way.”
“The year Rachel was born……. I guess you’ve been aiming for Rachel since then!”
It was clear from the circumstances that his brother was targeting his daughter. Henry was smart, and was horrified that his brother had been targeting Rachel since she was born.
“Yes. Rachel was born to be sacrificed. Henry, hand over Rachel. Then I will spare you.”
“Stop your nonsense!”
Henry shouted and his face contorted when he heard that he could save himself in return for letting his daughter get killed. The baron shook his head as if he knew it.
“The child was originally supposed to die without a name. Wasn’t she lucky enough to live another 15 years?”
Henry’s hands trembled. He couldn’t stand the nonsense anymore.
He picked up the bowl of poisoned soup from the table and threw it at his brother. But the baron turned his head to avoid the bowl. The soup spilled on the baron but he just brushed it off.
“How impertinent. Catch them right now!”
Five waiting maids moved to catch Henry and Rachel. But there was someone else who was more agile than them. It was Enoch.
He ran right to the table and grabbed all of Henry’s forks and knives. And flung them towards the maids.
The flying forks and knives pinned the maids’ skirts to the marble floor. Made from fabrics designed to withstand stains and damages, the maids’ clothes did not tear easily therefore they couldn’t move.
“Run away for now!”
Rachel was already ready to run. At Enoch’s shout, Henry also came to his senses.
“Brother, you will definitely regret this.”
“No, I have no regrets. Because if you only give Rachel, our wealth will be guaranteed. Get them!”
Paris Emporus exclaimed loudly, shaking off his brother’s words.
The soldiers waiting in the hallway opened the door and entered. There were six of them. It wasn’t a lot, but for Henry and Rachel who were powerless, it was a threatening number.
Enoch pulled out the sword hanging from his leg under his puffy skirt and rushed towards them. What would a wolf be like among the sheep? His sword radiated white light and split the bodies of two soldiers.
“I’m sorry.”
With his body that had yet to mature, the vigorous swing of his sword seemed unsteady, but his posture soon stabilized.
“Go first!”
Hearing Enoch’s roar, Rachel and Henry ran towards the narrow door.
“You can’t escape from here. Even if you get out of the castle, you will be blocked by the wall.”
The baron’s taunting voice came from behind. Rachel clenched her teeth and followed Henry.
Clang!
Another soldier swung his sword, but Enoch, who was behind him, cut through the enemy he was facing and blocked the sword.
Escorted by him, the two made their way through the door and ran down a long hallway.
Henry grabbed Rachel’s hand with his sweaty, slippery hand. As if he didn’t want to lose her.
Their breaths soon became rough. In particular, Rachel’s stamina was so poor that her legs staggered before she could even get out of the hallway.
‘This d*mned body!’
Henry carried his daughter.
“Father.”
“I’m sorry I didn’t believe you.”
Breathing heavily, he apologized. At his desperate expression, Rachel’s nose wrinkled* for nothing.
[T/N: A feeling when you’re about to cry.]
Rachel hugged his neck and shoulders and looked behind them. There were no soldiers chasing after them. Enoch was running, tearing off the hem of his skirt with his sword.
“Keep running!”
But Henry’s stamina wasn’t that good either. He just had the basic physical strength of an adult, that was all. He huffed and puffed and in the end hit a wall.
Enoch immediately caught up with them and imbued him and Rachel with divine power. Both their bodies recovered and regained vitality.
“Thank you.”
“It’s not over until we get out of this castle.”
Ting! Ting! Ting!
The bell rang as soon as Enoch uttered those words. Originally, it was the sound for an intruder, but since there was no intruder, it must have been a signal to capture Henry and Rachel.
They started running again. Rachel got off Henry’s arms and ran on her feet. However, a soldier appeared from the other side.
“There they are!”
“Kill the man, catch the blonde girl!”
The guards referred to him rudely because he was no longer being treated as the baron’s brother.
Like before, Enoch bent his upper body and jumped towards the guards.
Kang!
“Keuk!”
“The intruder is stronger than expected!”
Enoch’s pure white sword took the soldier’s life. Red blood splattered on his white face, but he didn’t even bother wiping his face.
“I can feel a lot of presence in front of us. I can’t deal with them while protecting you.”
Enoch said with urgency. It was possible to deal with the enemies alone, but right now Henry and Rachel were dead weight. He couldn’t fight and protect them both at the same time.
“There will be more soldiers at the entrance.”
Henry muttered as he realized it. The baron will block the entrance to prevent them from escaping.
There was only one person who could fight on their side, but there were many enemies. Breaking through head-on was impossible.
Then Rachel felt something behind the hallway they had come from.
She wondered if the enemy had already caught up with them, so she hurriedly looked back, but there was no one there. Instead, she saw a black rabbit hopping around.
“A rabbit?”
Rachel murmured involuntarily.
That’s because a black rabbit also appeared in the original. Rachel’s pet rabbit named ‘Blackie’.
Whenever Rachel wandered through the mansion in the game, a black rabbit with white feet would appear. When Rachel followed it, it would suddenly vanish.
Jung Yu-ri became Rachel and repeatedly returned but never saw a pet rabbit. But now, a white-footed rabbit appeared in front of her.
‘Should we follow you?’
The rabbit disappeared across the hallway in an instant. Then multiple footsteps could be heard out front. Reluctantly, they had to go back the way they came.
“There was a fork in the hallway, so let’s go that way.”
Rachel said. There was no other choice. The three of them turned and ran towards the path they had come from.
