I Got Transmigrated into a Horror Game Instead - Chapter 4
In the original, the doll appeared with a kitchen knife. When she meets Rachel, the doll would speak in a child’s voice.
“Let’s play hide-and-seek.”
And even if Rachel doesn’t answer.
“Then I’ll count.”
The doll would start counting. At the top of the game window, the number 30 appears in red letters and would start decreasing by 1.
From 30 to 11, it counts at normal speed, but from 10 to 1, it counts quickly in less than 2 seconds.
If you don’t leave the place at the given amount of time, the doll would stab Rachel to death with a knife.
If she escapes to another room, she won’t appear for a while, but the next time they meet, it won’t be a hide-and-seek game anymore, and would turn into a chase.
She would chase after Rachel with a knife, and once she runs into her, the monitor will go dark for a moment, and the words [Found you!] will appear in red across the screen. Afterwards, when caught by the doll, a “pop” sound would be heard and a death ending appeared.
The only way to get rid of her was to move quickly and leave for the second floor or hide somewhere. It was a very scary doll, contrary to what it looked like.
Ever since one subscriber wrote in the chat room, ‘If anyone meets that little doll, they’ll become a pine nut,’ Rachel has called the doll ‘knife doll’.
The doll was in Rachel’s room.
In the previous round, Rachel set the doll on fire. Burning the doll reduced the risk by 1%.
Rachel had always let the maid burn her doll and she never thought of looking inside.
But now, the doll’s clothes were being peeled off by Priest Peace’s hands.
“Aah!”
Someone let out a gasp. Rachel saw the doll’s body stripped of her clothes. It was something of a reddish-brown color, engraved with circles and hexagonal patterns and small characters.
“It’s a cursed medium.”
Priest Peace exhaled in a low voice. Her gaze turned to Evelyn.
“The curse is directed to sister.”
“To me?”
“Yes.”
At Priest Peace’s words, Evelyn asked curiously.
“I didn’t know.”
“That must’ve been so. It’s weak enough that this one alone won’t affect you.”
Rachel couldn’t understand why it was hidden in the mansion if it had no effect on her.
‘What does it mean?’
But Evelyn thought differently. As if she had noticed something, she hit her palm with the new fan she received and told the maid in the middle.
“Someone was conscious of me and deliberately used a weak curse medium!”
“I think so.”
Only the two of them exchanged conversations. Enoch seemed to understand the situation, but Rachel and Henry did not understand and looked at each other blankly.
‘Did we just feel a sense of kinship?’
“Who the hell is after my wife?”
Eventually, Henry opened his mouth. Priest Peace looked at Evelyn.
“Have you not told your husband yet?”
“Haha, it sort of just happened?”
Evelyn laughed awkwardly as she covered her mouth with her fan.
“It’s not a big deal. honey.”
“It’s not not a big deal. Henry-ssi, Evelyn was raised in the temple since childhood and has a talent for swordsmanship.”
It was already the 14th round, but this was the first Rachel had heard of it.
Who’s good at swordsmanship? Rachel held back the words that almost came out of her mouth.
“I’m sorry for hiding it.”
Evelyn mumbled like a little girl and apologized. But Henry asked.
“Are you hiding anything else?”
“No?”
“Really?”
“Actually, Rachel didn’t fall off the stairs, she was caught by the shadows and she fell.”
“No, not something like that…”
Henry stopped talking and bit his lip. It was because Evelyn’s expression turned cold.
“Rachel was hurt, and all you say is ‘something like that’?”
Henry seemed to have noticed his mistake only when the tone of her voice increased.
“Sorry. I made a slip of the tongue.”
He apologized quickly. Evelyn immediately forgave her husband who admitted his mistake.
“Okay. We’re both at fault, so honey can’t blame me for this, right?”
“Yes.”
Soon, Priest Peace clapped her hands twice loudly. This broke the atmosphere.
“Anyway, someone is after sister. And this type of curse uses multiple weak curse mediums.”
“The curse is strengthened as the curse mediums overlap!”
Rachel now understood the situation. Although it is not certain, several things must have been used as curse mediums.
“That’s right. Moreover, these curses are not felt by anyone at first, but they become stronger over time.”
“Enough to kill people?”
Rachel was lost in her thoughts. So, is it safe to say that Evelyn’s death two years later is because of a curse?
Rachel was not entirely sure about this. She would only see if the curse was lifted two years later.
“But who in the world is trying to kill mother?”
“I think we need to find another medium and check if there are any clues.”
Rachel was suspicious of Paris Emporus. The man who pretended to care for his niece and killed her.
‘The question is, does father know?’
From the look on his face, he didn’t seem to know at all. If one could make that kind of expression even though they knew it, you could call it an award-winning performance.
Rachel shook her head. Henry didn’t know. Although he will touch black magic two years later, he was someone who would not tolerate the curse that would harm Evelyn in the first place.
‘If he was such a person, he would never have thought of saving his wife with black magic.’
Priest Peace purified the doll.
[Risk rate: 88%]
And the five went to the well in the yard.
Rachel saw the well and remembered the third round.
She died so quickly in rounds 1 and 2 because she ran around to make sure this mansion was really the same old-fashioned mansion from the game.
The structure was the same. She really went inside the game when she became Rachel. She couldn’t accept that and she wailed in front of the well.
At that moment, a kite flying by dropped a frog. She saw a green frog falling from the sky and, trying to avoid it, her upper body leaned back towards the well and she fell.
She had not come near the well since then and now she was here.
Rachel looked at Priest Peace’s back. Is there anything in this well? In the original, a well ghost appeared and made Rachel fall.
“This here too.”
The priest felt the inside of the well then pulled out a stone. The stone detached as if it was inserted at a much later time.
[Risk rate: 87%]
The pattern they saw earlier was engraved on the part covered by the stone.
“Not just one, but three already. No, there will be more in the future. I wouldn’t be able to do this with just one or two visits, but was there anyone suspicious?”
At that moment, Henry and Evelyn’s expressions became awkward. It seemed like someone came to mind. But the moment it comes out of their mouth, it would be irreversible.
Priest Peace, who read the atmosphere, did not wait for an answer.
“Then shall we check the bees’ nest this time?”
They stood in front of a tree full of white apple blossoms.
In Round 5, Rachel was approaching this tree and tripped over the root and rolled over, then a swarm of bees rushed in as she probably touched the bees’ nest.
A black box was found under the apple tree as they looked for the bees’ nest.
[Risk rate: 86%]
‘The bees weren’t the problem!’
Rachel realized it as she saw the risk decreasing unlike when she had simply avoided it.
In the original story, there was no ending where she died from bees. Rather, there were only cases in which the bees helped.
On the other hand, there was an apple tree ending. Unlike the original apple tree, red flowers were blooming instead of the white flowers now.
When you approach the apple tree, the line [This is the trace of my height when I was young] would be printed out. After checking the height, the phrase [The tree seems to be moving] appears and there are two options: [Look at the tree] and [Fall from the tree].
If you choose the first option here, a red tree root will pop out of the ground and you will die. She had to choose the latter unconditionally.
‘Risk rates are related to things that pose a risk to the future at the time of the original story!’
Of course, there are still parts that didn’t make sense, but Rachel got an answer and she felt relieved.
Avoiding them wouldn’t lower the risk. The curse medium will remain as it is.
They later went to the rose bushes where a gardener was pruning them. The flowers had not bloomed yet so there were only thorny stems and green leaves.
Standing in front of the thicket, Evelyn wrinkled her nose. Priest Peace and Enoch’s expressions also hardened.
“This time here.”
Rachel pointed to the place where she fell in the 7th round. Thorns scratched and pierced her skin but she didn’t bleed profusely. However, she fell ill, and she died.
“Why didn’t I know this? Hans, dig this place up.”
Evelyn gave instructions to the gardener and Priest Peace picked a spot in the rose bush.
As the gardener shoveled the bushes, Rachel recalled the original rose ending.
The original rose was ferocious and vicious. She nagged her saying the pasqueflower was jealous of her beauty, and asked her to pluck it. She also asked her to kill the frogs because they were ugly and came her way whenever it rained hard.
Even if she completed all of those requests, she would spew poison, saying that a b**ch as beautiful as herself must disappear.
And if she refused the rose’s request from the beginning? She would poke her eyes with thorns, then make a slurping sound, feeding on her by sucking up all her blood as nutrients.
She couldn’t even avoid it. If she tried to avoid the roses in the yard, the rose bushes would spring up from where she had to pass, block the road and display phrases like [Rose seems to have a request].
‘I’ve died more than ten times because of that blood rose.’
Rachel called it ‘blood rose’ because it made her see the death ending more than ten times.
“What is that?”
Rachel woke up from her thoughts at the hoarse voice that wasn’t Henry’s.
Piles of rat carcasses were found in the ground where the gardener had dug. The gardener panicked and looked at his employer.
“I, what should I do?”
“Dig some more.”
