I Hate Systems - Chapter 999: Peddler Vs Essencer
“Another Spirit of mine died?” Essencer clicked his tongue in irritation, “Useless! All of them are useless!”
“Even with all the power I bestowed upon them, they still up and die like that?” He stared at the Apostle kneeling before him, saying with a cold tone, “Go ahead and kill the cause, now!”
“On it!” The Apostle nodded and pulled out a weighing scale, dumping a pile of gold on it as he jumped on the other side. The two attained a balance when immediately, the gold turned into dust while his figure vanished.
This was the method used by unscrupulous merchants. It was apparent that he had devoured the essence of at least a few to be this proficient.
“Sheesh, this is pretty boring…” Essencer muttered when his eyes fell on the weighing scale, frowning upon seeing that it didn’t vanish.
And as he suspected, the weighing scale floated to the air when suddenly, the scales shattered as two figures appeared on each side, weighing equally.
‘As expected of him.’ Peddler stared at the figure of Pnolli on the other side of the weighing scale, ‘His accumulation is equal to mine. I haven’t slacked off for a moment until now. To think this is the true extent of his caliber.’
He sighed and shook his head, ‘You’re indeed amazing, Compass.’
Pnolli stared at the figure of Essencer, “We meet again, Waning Essence.”
“Compass, and…” He stared at Peddler, “Adventure?”
The figure of Pnolli morphed, transforming into a man with a rugged expression, his body covered by scars from head to toe, with the majority of the parts covered by shadow.
God of Humanity—Avatar Aggressor!
From the feet touching the floor, a blotch of shadow resembling ink spread out, with its edges spiked, covering the room as an eye opened wide and glared at Essencer.
Aggressor stared at Essencer, “You ready to die?”
“You think you can kill me?” Essencer snorted as immediately, a shadow extended out of his feet and clashed with Aggressor’s, “I’ve devoured enough of your faith too.”
Cling! Clang! Ting!
The sounds of gold coins clashing into a metallic pole resounded crisply in the area as six coins floated towards Essencer, revolving as they glinted.
Hovering farther behind was Peddler, glaring in response as he flailed his weighing scale, causing the six coins to transform into metallic serpents that rushed at Essencer.
Essencer pointed his hand at the six serpents and grunted, unleashing six bolts of lightning. This was the power stolen from the God of Rain.
Thunder rumbled while lightning flashed in the sky. The palace that Essencer had built crumbled as three figures jutted through the air, exchanging attacks nonstop.
“Everyone! I’m reclaiming all my power. Enemies have breached my sanctum.” Essencer’s voice resounded in the minds of everyone from the Essencer Guild as immediately, everyone lost power, including all their accumulations.
“Ha…haha…I’m at full power now.” Bellowing in response, Essencer blasted into the clouds, following which bolts of lightning rained down.
Aggressor covered himself with a sphere of shadow, sent crashing into the ground by a lightning strike, frowning as he observed large patches of it vaporise in response. With the sky covered by clouds, he couldn’t create more shadows, only left with the original amount.
“As I expected, he’s strong.” Peddler leapt behind a pile of coins that acted as a wall, speaking while he watched them melt under the lightning strikes. He observed a damaged sphere of shadow roll towards him and retract once within the safety of the coin wall, revealing the figure of a panting Aggressor.
“Are you done with your preparations?” Aggressor asked while panting as he coughed up blood, “I might seriously die at this rate.”
“I can’t exhibit much of my power through my Avatars.”
“Isn’t this Avatar of yours a fighting state?” Peddler said and didn’t bother to continue arguing, groaning, “Do you seriously wish to test my strength first?”
“Yeah, I’m saving my strength for later.” Aggressor said, “We’re going to go through them all simultaneously.”
“So, it’s on you to take care of this one. I’ll just offer my support.”
“Fine,” Peddler sighed as he brought out a pouch and took out a shining coin that he flicked into the air, flashing his weighing scale once as he muttered, “Reverse the contract.”
The coin shone with a resplendent light as it exploded to become a lightning serpent that slammed into the sky and dispersed the thunderclouds, causing Essencer to gawk in shock.
“Indeed, through contracts, you can gain possession of other faiths.” Aggressor smiled and patted Peddler.
“You seriously are one irritating guy.” Peddler sighed in response, “Did you find it out through that brat named Eldna?”
“Guess?” Aggressor casually smiled.
“Tch!” Peddler clicked his tongue and didn’t bother arguing, ‘I should have known. This guy deals in experience and memories. How much does he know actually?’
The moment Peddler showed his intent to ally, Pnolli directly provided him with the coordinates of Essencer’s domain. And that was how he brought Pnolli to Essencer’s domain to fight.
Unlike Deities who lived with their believers in one location, Devils lived far away from their believers.
So, even the believers didn’t know of the Devil’s domain. To this day, even Peddler was unable to figure out the locations of Essencer and Invaderon. But surprisingly, the God of Humanity seemed aware.
‘How? Followers of Devils are inherently unable to pray to him. Besides, even if they managed to figure out a way, they definitely won’t be aware of Essencer’s location. Only an Apostle would have known and Essencer should have a tight leash on his Apostle’s actions. He probably monitors them through every moment of their life.’
“Do you mind telling me how you figured out Essencer’s location?” Peddler asked upon neutralising the God of Rain’s faith within Essencer.
“Sure, once you kill Essencer,” Aggressor said.
“Fine,” Peddler clicked his tongue as he took out a knife and made a gash on Aggressor’s hand, extracting some of the blood that he poured on his weighing scale, “The contract has been established. So you can’t say otherwise once I’m done.”
“So you are confident in killing Essencer.” Aggressor smiled as he used a shadow to cover the wound and prevent the leakage of blood.
“Of course, as long as I’m not bankrupt, I cannot die.” Peddler spoke and glared at Essencer, “And my foundation surpasses his.”
