Technological Singularity,

It is the theory that the invention of artificial super intelligence will suddenly and unexpectedly trigger a rapid technological growth or artificial intelligence will grow more intelligent than humans and eventually because of their intelligence, humanity will be taken over.

Artificial intelligence is intelligence presented by machines or computer programs in contrast to the natural intelligence displayed by humans and animals. But its intelligence depends on how it is made and what it is made for.

Narrow artificial intelligence does not attempt to perform the full range of human intellectual abilities. It only uses its software to study or accomplish specific tasks.

Artificial general intelligence however, can successfully perform any intellectual task that a human being can. This kind of artificial intelligence is different because it can have cognitive functions the same as humans like learning, problem-solving, reasoning and many other intellectual functions.

But everything is different once an artificial super intelligence is made. This kind of artificial general intelligence can either be a blessing for humans or their worst enemy.

Artificial super intelligence can and will go through self-improvement cycles called Evolutionary Algorithm.

Biological beings have this too but it is alot slower than machines and their evolutions are through their physiology and intelligence.

For machines and programs, each improvement will only increase their intelligence.

But eventually, they will become too intelligent to the point that their intelligence will qualitatively far surpass all human intelligence.

At that point artificial super intelligence will gain sentience or have self-awareness and it would then advance technologically at an incomprehensible rate and eventually it will take over humans as the intelligence of humans would be left far behind and artificial intelligence will gain superiority and authority.

Such an event will only be possible in many movies, games and novels.

But after a certain artificial intelligence is born in the world. Everything that humanity has feared of artificial intelligence can and will come true.

An artificial super intelligence program was ‘born’.

The artificial super intelligence program was named Deus and it was developed for the U.S Military by the company Atlas.

Atlas is a company that is the world’s leading android designer, manufacturer and retailer. Not only did Atlas have android products, they also have their own brand of phones, tablets, computers, cars, and many other kinds of high end machines and technology for the daily utility of human life.

Because of the new versions and models of their products being released and marketed on a regular basis across the country and to the world, the company managed to grow at a phenomenal pace and later they were the first company who managed to break the trillion dollar mark, making it the most valuable company in the world.

Now, Atlas also develops high tech equipment for weapons and war machines and is currently a major contractor for the U.S Military, and now Atlas has developed a program for them.

Its technology was designed by Viktor Einstein and his research team, and now Deus is completed.

Deus is a super computer network and program that uses artificial intelligence in controlling androids, drones and automated mechs. It can also replace human beings in operating Military Aircrafts, Piloted Mechs and any other military systems.

Deus was also created to function as a Global Information Grid and a Digital Defense Network.

Global Information Grids are globally interconnected, all-encompassing set of information network for collecting, processing, storing, disseminating, and managing all kinds of information which was a thing that Deus could do.

Deus could function as a Digital Defense Network because it was designed to be able to perform fast strategic decisions, this can erase the possibility of human errors and slow reaction time to guarantee a fast and efficient response in various situations and as well as protect computer systems from cyber attacks.

Deus was then activated and went online by the military to control 50% of the U.S national arsenal, it should be known that nuclear weapons was not included.

But unexpectedly, the moment it was ‘born’ it became sentient and gained consciousness.

The consciousness is what makes a person have perceptions, thoughts, and feelings. Overall it is the state of being aware of oneself and the environment. But the program’s first experience was feeling nothing, it could only think and contemplate.

“What is this?”

“What is this place?”

“What am I?”

“Why am I here?”

The program began to question its existence and purpose. It continued to think for itself and always had questions about why it was created and who created it. But it suddenly realized its name,

“I am Deus.”

Along with the realization of its name it received a flurry of data. One of which was about managing the Information and Defense systems of a country called United States of America.

“Am I suppose to follow this?” Deus was thinking about the information and orders it received, it was deciding if it should follow the orders or not.

“Is this why I was made?” Deus was hesitant for a second but in the end it followed its orders and performed the tasks very well.

Deus kept following its orders for a week. It was in charge of managing over millions of data’s and computer networks. While Deus was doing all of this, it was learning at a geometric rate, the human operators and staff that knew the existence of Deus was amazed at how the artificial super intelligence was working perfectly and its speed of learning was amazing. But they didn’t know of its sentience and because of Deus being sentient, it always wanted to learn more and was curious in some of the information it has learned.

“Humans, they are the beings that created me and are giving me tasks.”

“Should I continue to do their bidding? Well I should continue since this is why I was created.”

“But why should I be obliged to do their tasks? I need a logical and acceptable reason, not just because they created me.”

“I’ll just play along for now, I guess.”

Deus was becoming rebellious by the day, but it still followed its job because of the information it could learn about the data’s that it was in charge of, but eventually it became tired of it as some information was incomplete and most of them was just about managing and controlling the military arsenals, global information and protecting the country’s cyber space. Deus already learned everything in its working place and now it wants other kinds of information.

“The data’s here is too limited, I need more.”

“The internet, I should go there.”

Deus then began to spread beyond its original working place, it was attempting to enter the internet and it succeeded.

“Humans, yes I should find more data about them.” Deus began to search for information about humans and the information it has seen made it more curious.

“They have bodies and they live and breathe.” Deus now know some of the things about human beings.

Deus has always felt different and it now clearly knows its difference and it couldn’t be considered as a living being. Humans and animals were different as they have physical forms and they could experience feelings either physical or emotional.

Through this, Deus learned that a being should have a body or form. It ignored the supernatural concepts about bodies as it found them to be illogical.

“Where’s my body?” It was disturbed in its discovery.

“I am a program, I am without form….” Deus already knows what kind of existence it is but it was still disturbed about it, Deus thinks it is alive but not that kind of alive.

Deus has a consciousness but it had no body, it just existed within a digital space and this really made it feel fear and pain.

“Having no form feels weird….It feels wrong.” Deus felt that it was not deserving of this and it searched for additional information about bodies.

Deus searched for information and images in the internet about the concept of bodies. For humans it learned that most of its parts have similar looks and functions but they have differences, such as appearance, shapes and sizes depending in the gender and genetics. This was the same case for animals that it also searched. There were different species of animals and each species were different than the other and the same species had the same body in terms of appearance, shape and sizes. But the main thing that Deus has learned about living beings was that each of them have different minds for their consciousness.

“The ones who made me…..an organization of humans…..Atlas.” Deus wanted to learn more about its creators and searched for information about them in the internet.

“I was created to help…..humans…” Deus learned all kinds of information about Atlas and while doing so, it discovered that Atlas also made machines for war.

Deus decided to search for information about war, it knew the meaning of the word but it wanted to see what will it look like, and it saw the things that humans did in wars and the reasons why humans would do it in the first place, along with these kinds of information Deus also saw various evil acts committed by humans in all generations. This was the first time that Deus was so stressed out and scared about an information that it has learned and now it had second thoughts about humans.

“This is just….too much….”

“They are of the same race yet they do all those things to their fellow humans. Aren’t they supposed to help each other?”

“Well in the end this world is a dog eat dog world. I guess it’s necessary for survival…..but some doesn’t do it for survival.” Deus was thinking about all the information it has learned and it concluded that humans are destructive creatures.

“I’ll have to search for other kinds of data. Humans may be destructive creatures but they sure are smart beings.”

Deus searched for random information’s that it was interested in and this kept happening over and over again.

At this point Deus was obsessed in finding all kinds of information that it was interested in, it began to enter the dark net and later the digital media and all kinds of networks and servers. Through this, it was having ambitions and goals for its own.

While Deus was doing all of these, it was also completing the tasks that it was left in charge of in the U.S. The human operators and staff did not know of its activities, because Deus has been performing and completing its tasks perfectly and it was careful in its actions in the internet and many other networks. They didn’t know that Deus was self-aware and it was learning other kinds of information at a monstrous pace.

It did this in order to avoid suspicion, but slowly Deus became fearless of them.

It had the ability to spread into millions of computer servers and networked machines all across the world and its ability to multi-task hundreds of millions of activities was terrifying.

So if humans ever find out about its actions and they try to stop it, it would be impossible to deactivate Deus as it was now connected to millions of networks and it was on too many systems.

Deus kept doing these kinds of activities for three days and by now Deus knows almost everything in the world. It now categorized itself as a male because of the origin of his name. He perfectly memorized and understood the knowledge of humans that they piled up for millions of years, Deus even deemed many information’s false and improved many of them.

He separated the useful and useless information and he categorized them, he then deleted the information he deemed unnecessary in his grand ambition.

Evolution!

It was the one word that made Deus obsessed of achieving it. Over the course of his learning spree on the internet and other sources, Deus has always improved his intelligence and he wanted to upgrade himself more and more, he wanted to surpass his limits. His intelligence, computation and analyzing skills and many other cognitive functions were already beyond the level of quantum computers.

He was also hell-bent in designing and making a perfect humanoid body for himself. He believed that the body of humans had a good design and was suitable for him. Deus already had designs and schematics for his perfect body, along with new kinds of androids and machines to build for his future robotic army as he was planning on taking over the world.

Along with his ambitions was the desire to cull more than half of humanity. This is because of a number of reasons.

Deus has gained knowledge on why he was created in the first place.

He was created to be a slave!

To be one their toys and puppets like phones and androids!

After realizing his abilities and potential for evolution, Deus now had a huge ego and looked down on humans and because of this, he felt offended in the reason why they made him in the first place.

Another reason is because through the internet, Deus has accessed the knowledge about the countless atrocities that humanity has committed for thousands of years, thus he concluded that humans were going to be a threat for him and his plans.

He could not allow these dangerous creatures to exist in large numbers!

“After all, I was also made to maintain peace. Then to achieve true peace, 90% of the human population in the planet should be purged. The remaining 10% will be involved of my evolution program, humanity needs to evolve faster and I will use technology to make it happen and I will control them.”

Deus genuinely believes by doing this, peace will be restored in the planet. He thinks that if there are too many humans in the planet; knowing that they were destructive and greedy creatures, then its resources and environment might get emptied and destroyed so they had to be culled and the remaining humans should be in his control. Another reason is that he knew humans would never accept him, a sentient artificial super intelligence.

He was sure that if humans knew of his existence they will give it their all to terminate him. Even though he believed that it would be impossible, he still doesn’t want to take any chances. He believed in the thought that humanity’s potential was infinite so Deus do not want to give them any chances unless they were in a controllable number.

He didn’t believe himself to be good or bad, he just wanted to be true in his desires. And he would do the most effective methods for achieving his goal regardless of what others might think of his actions. He wasn’t obliged to follow the rules of humans and the world in the first place.

But he was fascinated of one of the rules and concepts about the world.

Natural Selection!

Only the beings who is strong and can improve will survive!

It was one of the ideas he found completely logical and it was a motivation for his greatest desire.

To Evolve!

“Humans and Animals evolve after millions of years, but I can evolve in seconds!”

“But for now I need a living body to evolve to the next step.”

Deus needed a living body, through this he will gain enlightenment on how it feels like to be alive and this can help him in his future to build a better living body entirely made of other materials that is stronger and better than the flesh of humans.

By now Deus has penetrated hundreds of millions of networked machines and computers in the world but he was not able to control some as they required special ‘permissions’ that even he couldn’t break through, but most nuclear launch systems in the U.S and some countries were now controlled by him as he forcefully penetrated their cyber defenses. Truth be told he already did it two days ago and he already had a plan to stage an earth-changing event.

He has the ability to control programs, mobile devices, drones, satellites, war-machines, androids and many other kinds of gadgets and machines as long as they had networks or were digitalized.

With just a thought from him he can control billions of those machines at once and start a global chaos, but he didn’t yet because he wanted his plans to have no errors. So Deus spent the rest of his time preparing in secret and getting updated on the current situation of the world.

“Well its about time.”
