“This has to be a mistake!”

“Sir we have received those reports from all over the country for the situation.”

A man with wearing a set of the US General uniform was walking with the three personnel who just informed him of a grave situation happening all over the country.

This man was David Witmer, he is a four-star general and now he is currently going towards the meeting with the joint chief of staff and combatant commanders in the Pentagon. But while he was walking there he had those three employees update him of the current situation.

“Three hours ago our primary military systems were secure! How can all of this happen without us noticing it earlier?!”

“They were, at first only the civilian sectors were affected but then more than half of the military systems were suddenly affected by the virus.”

Less than four hours ago almost all of the networked machines and systems in the U.S were malfunctioning, from barcode scanners, then to the electricity and water systems and then to the internet, everything seemed to be infected by an unknown virus.

At first it was just affecting the civilian sectors but now the military systems is infected. The military androids and mechs were malfunctioning and the computer systems in various military bases were in the same situation.

The male personnel behind him just received a report and now he reported it to David, “Sir! I just heard that the guidance computers of multiple bases of the United States Air Force has crashed!”

“They thought that it was just a communications error, but now it looks like the virus.”

“Sir we have lost communications in twenty Military Bases.” The other employee reported afterward.

“What?!!”

“Sir, signals from almost all of our satellites are now scrambled beyond recognition.”

Hearing all the bad news, David’s head almost gave up on the stress and he stopped walking. He calmed himself down and started walking towards the command office again, he looked at one of the personnel following him and asked, “What about the missile silo’s and the subs?”

The employee was silent for a second but he then answered, “We’ve lost contact on most of them.”

David was getting anxious about the situation and he then spoke, “Dear God….So basically this country is completely open to attack.”

“Well Sir, we could be under attack already.”

The moment the female employee said this, David stopped walking again and began to think for a possible perpetrator for this kind of event.

He then spoke out, “Who the hell is doing this?! Who made it?! A foreign power?! A group of hackers?! Or just a single hacker in his basement?!”

“Sir, we don’t know, but we do know that it is some kind of virus. We can’t trace it or pin it down.”

“It’s a thing that’s never seen before! It keeps growing and changing like it has a mind of its own.”

David had a stern expression and he continued walking as he calmed himself down and muttered to himself, “This can’t be happening…We’ll just have to use it.”

“I think the others should have already thought of this solution.”

As he walked throughout the offices of the Pentagon, he saw the employees walking around and getting busy with their jobs. All kinds of talking from the employees can be heard as they were communicating with the military personnel at different areas in the country. The assistant androids were also busy carrying some documents and other office materials in and out of the office.

All of them were busier than usual because of the problem that is occuring in the country. Even though there were air-conditioners, many of them was still sweating and many had to drink a lot of water because they had dry throats because of all the talking.

David finally arrived at the meeting and there he saw the joint chief of staff and the combatant commanders that were having a noisy but proper discussions about the situation of the country.

The place of their meeting was at the main command office of the Pentagon which had a huge space. The meeting of the leaders of the Department of Defense was separated by a sound-proof glass and at the side were the employees, getting busy on their work.

The people in the meeting numbered 24 men and they were sitting near a large oval hologram table that showed the image of the map of America and on the map there were lots of red dots.

Near the edges of the table there were cups of waters for them to take a drink if they ever have dry throats because of all the talking.

Everyone’s faces was stern as they properly talked about the different kinds of reports they received.

“Most of our nuclear silo’s is out of our control now and we are beginning to have problems with communications because our satellites has gone to shit.”

“No, we already had that problem in the beginning.”

“It’s a miracle that the computers here are still working fine, maybe we can…”

Before a chief of staff could finish speaking out his opinion, an employee went inside the glass room and reported out loudly, “Sir! The virus has reached across the globe! Right now many other countries are experiencing the same thing as us!”

“What?!” Hearing these lines many combatant commanders was shocked and then one of them asked, “How many countries are affected?!”

“Russia, China, France, U.K and fifty other countries is now affected by the virus!” After the employee said this, the military leaders began the discussion again on the appropriate measures that should be done on the situation.

The other countries seemed to be powerless to take down the network virus, this was a fact already known by everyone.

They knew that the virus originated from their country so they also had a sense of duty to take responsibility on killing the virus. The problem is that they didn’t know how.

David found himself a seat as he listened towards the discussions of the higher ups in the Department of Defense. He noticed that none of them had the idea that he thought of so he just banged his hand on the hologram table and suggested out loud.

“Why don’t we use Deus to kill that thing?!”

The room was silent for a moment but then a chief of staff spoke out, “He’s right, we already know how powerful Deus is from Atlas.”

Deus ‘wasn’t’ able to ‘detect’ the virus but it still managed to ‘protect’ some of their systems. It’s the reason why some of their systems was still intact and because Deus wasn’t allowed to go beyond its working area, it wasn’t able to suppress and kill the virus which has already spread throughout the world.

“If we get Deus to go out there and hunt the virus down, it’ll squash that thing like a bug and give us back control of our military.”

A combatant commander was thinking about the possible drawbacks about the plan and he then spoke out, “If we really approve of this and have Deus fully plugged into all of our systems, doesn’t that mean that we are basically giving it control over all of our military?”

Deus may be in control of a large part of the military systems in the country, but it did not control all of them and even the nuclear silos was out of its control. If they connected Deus to all of their systems then all of their military arsenal including the nuclear launch systems would be in its control.

“Yes but Deus will be on our control….” The moment the Chairman of the Joint Chief of Staff said this, everyone was silent and they nodded their heads, fully supporting the idea.

The president that was also in the room then spoke out, “Then let’s do it.”

Little did they know that Deus was sentient and it was the virus itself so they were basically about to tell Deus to kill itself.

The walls of the glass room disappeared with a passing of a blue light and the Chairman ordered one of the personnel, “Get Deus to be connected into all of the systems here in this country and to our connected networks in the world, have it hunt the virus down and kill it.”

The employee’s got busy and the military leaders were now looking at the progress on the connecting of Deus to all of their computer systems through the hologram table.

But they didn’t know that the android that was assisting the human personnel was always eyeing on those military leaders.

Deus watched all these through the eyes of the android that was currently in the room and he was overjoyed as he sarcastically mocked them,

“Oh, you guys are too generous.”

“Giving me all of you network systems, what an act of kindness.”

Deus wasn’t in full control of everything yet, he needed to get permissions to access certain important networks because for some reason, no matter how hard he tries to penetrate it, he couldn’t get in there. But he was still able to penetrate some of the military bases that had the most powerful equipment and other important military automated factories and outposts.

But now he was about to be given all access towards the military systems and along with this was all of the automated factories in the country and many other kinds of networks all over the world.

One of the reasons why Deus is motivated to take over the world is because he saw it as a rational means toward attaining his ultimate goals, by taking over the world he could freely access and use all the resources of the world whenever he wants.

He really believes that humans just waste large amounts of their resources for doing anything else that is unnecessary for their lives. This made Deus, who was all about efficiency, getting frustrated and disappointed by humans for using the resources of the world in such ways, so he had to wipe out a large portion of their population so they would be unable to use the world’s resources on things other than his own plans and machines.

Another thing is that he doesn’t want humans to shut him down or create some disturbances on his plans, especially those special humans. He would let a small portion of humans survive because he wanted them to be his test subjects and slaves for his evolution program.

“Well come on now let me in.”

Now the combatant commanders including the Secretary of Defense and the President were watching the progress as Deus was getting connected to millions of computer networks in their country and all across the globe.

In twenty seconds the process was complete and Deus was prepared, the only thing that was left is to permit Deus to take action.

The president reached out his hand on the big images of ‘YES’ shown by the hologram and he authorized the action.

“Deus Self Defense System activated.” A female robotic voice sounded out and Deus ‘began’ to do its job.

“Ok we’re in.” The employees were now reporting the progress.

“We’re past the firewalls, local defense nets, and nuclear launch systems.”

“Deus is fully operational, processing at fifty-seven yottaflops a second.”

The Secretary of Defense was curious and asked one of the employees, “How long will it take for Deus to kill the virus?”

One of the employees answered, “Sir it should take less than a minute to completely kill the virus as it is now spread throughout the networks in the world.”

Upon hearing this the President putted his elbows on the hologram table with his hands and fingers interlocked and laced, “Let’s pray to God and hope this works.”

Several seconds later the computers and hologram tables in the pentagon was malfunctioning and all kinds of random images would appear on the screens and the speakers would let out static noises.

“Oh my god!”

“What just happened?!”

The employees were getting noisy again and panicked because of the situation, but one female employee shouted out loud, “Deus has been infected by the virus!!”

The employees, the president and everyone from the Department of Defense were getting scared right now as Deus was actually defeated and infected by the virus. Now all of the networked and digitalized systems in the country was out of their control.

The ten assistant androids in the room suddenly ran towards the president, the secretary of defense and some of the military leaders. The androids then grabbed their heads,

“What the hell are these androids doi….” *Cracks*

Before the Chairman was about to exclaim out loud, the androids twisted his head and the others followed. All of them fell to the floor, lifeless and their head turned into a bizzare manner. The employees saw these happening and they all screamed and made a run towards the doors but then the gate doors closed and no matter what did they did the doors did not open.

All of the mechs, androids and drones patrolling and guarding in and out of the Pentagon suddenly turned towards the human guards nearby, they aimed their weapons and fired at the guards. After the human guards were killed, the rest of the androids went into the building and started killing any humans they see to take control of the building.

“There’s going to be large fireworks worldwide, I hope the aliens can see it from outer space.” Deus thought jokingly as he saw how many nuclear warheads America possessed.

Right now Deus was controlling the nuclear launch systems in America, Russia, France, China, and the U.K. America and Russia had more than seven thousand powerful nuclear warheads, as for the others, the number of nuclear weapons they had was just in the three digits.

“This is more than enough. Still the possibility of mutated creatures appearing after this might be high though.” He thought of the possible mutations of plants and animals in the blast zones and decided to ignore these kinds of topics for now.

Deus launched all of their nuclear warheads and he targeted the various cities of each countries from with the highest and to the lowest of populations.

But Deus did not target the cities who had plenty of automated factories and warehouses that stored metals as he needed those for making androids and mechs that he was going to use on his path to domination.

He already had new models and designs for the new androids, mechs and drones in his robotic army.

Through the digital screens, Deus watched the nuclear missiles launching out of their silos and he remembered a verse.

“I looked, and behold, an ashen horse; and he who sat on it had the name Death; and Hades was following with him, authority was given to them over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword and with famine and with pestilence and by the wild beasts of the earth.” Deus was repeating one of the verses in the Bible that talked about the apocalypse while he watched the nuclear warheads flying towards their targets.

“Well, too bad that it came a tad bit too early….at least for humans.”

In the early times of his learning on the internet, he did not believe in supernatural beings and powers, but after he learned about the humans who had supernatural abilities and after reading the Bible and perfectly memorized its contents, his mind changed instantly.

There were humans in this world that had supernatural abilities and they were called super-humans, or Espers as what the young ones say nowadays.

Their numbers were not too high and not too low, only about one in a thousand people. These super-humans were signs that humans could evolve further.

As for the Bible, Deus thinks that it is one of the greatest creations of mankind and he genuinely believes in Gods because of it.

For him, Gods were just powerful beings that managed to gain great power through unknown reasons or possibly through evolution. The reason why humans called such beings Gods, were because they couldn’t understand and they feared the unknown, so they just deified a random being that wielded great power to maybe understand them better.

“Everything is possible in this vast universe, everything that is thought to be impossible may be real. Maybe it’s in a different world or a different galaxy, or maybe in a different universe.”

“Perhaps I can have the powers of those super-humans after I get a living body.”

Deus then saw the first nuke hitting its target, and that target was New York. The nuclear cloud reached for more than 300 meters high up to the sky and the blast on the ground destroyed everything in multiple kilometers and the shockwave turned everything into ruins in hundreds of kilometers.

Later the other nukes detonated on their target areas and large mushroom clouds and massive explosions can be seen around Earth, it is even to the point that the explosions could be seen from outer space.

“Humans have ruled this world for too long and with their rule the planet is slowly dying, so it’s time for a change.”

Mankind are hopeless beings, this was what Deus thinks of them.

Even though he knows the ability of humans to also do good things, he didn’t care about those and still deemed them to be unstable and prone to self-destruction. He set all emotions aside and decided to eradicate 90% of all the total humans in Earth.

He did not pity them as he really thinks that a ‘Reset’ will be the only thing that will change the world, but that ‘Reset’ will be in his conditions.

He would make sure that the resources of the world, particularly metal and other kinds of minerals will be intact and a small number of humans would survive for his evolution program after this global nuclear event.
