I have Nine Lives - Chapter 138
The announcement made by the fox queen Malora triggered an event that should have happened way later into the invasion.
The two other invading continents sped up their progress using the resources they had just gotten from capturing the basic villages of the other tribes that lived in their parts.
Each seasonal part had its own special resources that the humans had a use for, so with a little bit of bribing and trading, the spiders, kangaroos, and ravens got their hands on some special tailor-made technology that was useful against their enemies, thus leading to the conquering of the whole continent.
There were still places that no one set their foot in on the Sparron continent, and that’s where the others were currently laying their eyes on.
The other 3 continents were mostly fully searched through because the inhabitants had enough strength to get to whatever location their minds put them to. Unlike the pitiful people of the Sparron continent. Who couldn’t even travel everywhere on their own continent due to their lack of strength!
It took the alliance of the Balton and Haron continents around 2 months after the announcement to fully capture the leaders of their respective parts. Afterward, just like the lions, they made their own announcements which they shared with the whole continent to make a show of strength and tell the lions that they weren’t better than them!
The lions were both competitors and enemies to the Balton and Haron continent’s top inhabitants and vice-versa.
They wanted everything to be in balance as a tripartite power now that the Sparron continent had been dissected and shared between the three of them.
And just like this, the alliance between the ravens and the kangaroos-spiders had ended.
With their business done, there was no reason for them to remain in the alliance as they split up peacefully for the time.
Now that the war was also over, there was no reason to keep troops on the Sparron continent anymore. Besides the ones that were needed to defend against attacks made by their former alliance mates.
Considering they didn’t want to fully fall out, and fight it to the death. The future fights would only happen with personnel below the lieutenant level.
It was impossible to stop such skirmishes, and they were also helpful to temper the younger generation making them gain experience and feel how the battlefield actually was, without actually fighting on the crueler version of it.
While deaths were also inevitable in such situations, the upper echelons didn’t care as long as it didn’t involve their benefits.
Felix was relaxing for once after a long time. He didn’t have any time to do this since he had been transported to this new world and as a cat. He originally liked to laze around, generally eating and sleeping.
Since he gained intelligence those parts of his personality were dulled out by quite a lot, but they were still in his blood, making the current situation especially enjoyable. Imagine working for around 12 hours a day every day and then suddenly getting a vacation in a luxurious place that you wanted to visit since you were a child. This was the sensation that Felix currently felt even though he wasn’t anywhere special.
He was actually lazing on the rooftop of the inn he made his home at the lion’s capital.
Felix was sunbathing with his eyes closed as he purred out of pleasure. It’s been such a long time since he had enjoyed some time with himself that he almost forgot how it was like.
Suddenly Felix could sense someone under the inn waving at him. It was Lindo and Manitola!
Now that they were discharged from the army for some resting time, they both took a more casual approach on their attires.
Lindo was wearing some shorts and a tank top that showed his muscles and scars, along with some sandals. His long mane of hair had been cut shorter and tied together in a bun at the top of his head.
Manitola changed into a casual dress made from the specially grown plant known as silk, making it nice to touch and look at as she wore one with a floral engraving on it.
Lindo had his hand over her shoulder as he waved at Felix, who was at the top of the house, waiting for him to jump down to them.
Felix descended to the ground as he looked at them and asked:
“What’s up?”
Normally they knew that Felix liked to laze alone as there weren’t many things that someone could do as a group in this world besides exploring or fighting, or well eating, but Felix had already eaten for today.
“We just wanted to invite you to a gathering with our close friends as we have a big announcement to make.”
Felix’s ears moved up and down as he felt interested:
“Big announcement? What is it?”
Lindo smiled goofily as he put his hands forward and shook them from side to side, indicating that he couldn’t tell him yet:
“It isn’t time for that to be revealed, you should come with us as you are the last invited person.”
Felix wasn’t one to say no to his friends, especially since they made it look like it was a very important thing, so he walked alongside them towards Lindo’s house.
They didn’t talk much while they were walking back to Lindo’s house, so it was quite relaxing for Felix.
They used around 5 minutes to go from the inn to Lindo’s house, where they met with Landers, Catro, and Diorno.
They were all seated besides Diorno who was leaning on the wall of the house and taking swigs from his alcohol flask.
He seemed to be uneasy, as he glanced at Manitola and Lindo from time to time. Seemingly as if he knew something already, but he just waited for them to confirm it.
Lindo clapped to get everyone’s attention as a smile crept up onto his face while he looked at everyone around.
“I have called you all here for one reason and one reason only.”
“A great event has happened in both of our lives, and Manitola had successfully become pregnant!”
Lindo’s smile was there for everyone to see. It seemed that he didn’t even bat an eyelid as he dropped the news on everyone.
Diorno’s drinking flask had fallen to the ground while Catro didn’t look that interested as he had better things to do, but being the polite man he was, he got up from the couch, congratulated the duo then left because he had work, the war may be over, but that’s when the logistics team had to work the hardest to finish counting the wins and losses.
Felix wasn’t sure what to say, so he just congratulated the duo just like Catro did while Landers had a big smile on his face as he approached them and patted Lindo’s shoulder before asking:
“Have you thought of a name?”
“Well if he is a boy, he will be called Jack and if she is a girl, she will be called Maleena.”
He looked lovingly at Manitola as he put his hand over her stomach.
Manitola looked back at him with the same gaze as they whispered sweet nothings to each other, making the others feel awkward as hell.
Diorno grabbed his flask from the ground as he put it back into his clothes and shook his head as he looked at the duo and didn’t say anything as he didn’t want to destroy the atmosphere even though he knew there was a huge chance their child would come out with deformities.
Lindo glanced towards his leaving father, but he let him go instead of telling him to wait, he knew there wasn’t much he could talk to him about in this situation as he already made up his mind.
He knew that his child might come out deformed and with no ability to protect himself or herself in the future, but he didn’t care.
He knew he wanted to protect his child and Manitola all the same, regardless of how he ended up. He didn’t have any expectations of him either as he gave him all of his love.
“Well, I hope you two will be happy, oh sorry, the three of you.”
Landers smiled as he started to search through his special bag for an appropriate gift.
After a while, he took out a small bone inscribed with a song that his father usually sung him before he went to war in the early days.
“I hope that you will sing your song to your child whenever you will have to leave for war as it meant to soothe him or her, this helped me greatly when I was young, and considering our society, you should know that these days won’t last forever…”
“I understand Landers, thanks for your gift.”
Felix panicked a bit now, was he supposed to bring a gift as well? He looked through his special bag for something that would be appropriate in this situation. but he found nothing like what he needed he still had only food and his money inside.
He felt quite awkward as he looked at Lindo who was smiling at him, seemingly realizing why he was so awkward.
He waved his hand at Felix and told him:
“Come closer, Felix, you don’t have to give us any gift, but I would like to ask something of you.”
Felix approached Lindo and Manitola as he waited for Lindo’s question.
Lindo dropped his smile as he asked seriously:
“Would you consider becoming this childs’ godfather?”
