I have Nine Lives - Chapter 149
Felix’s paw was pointing towards the Alpha section of the map as he had chosen the normal space battle.
He had just fought a spaceship battle and realized that he needed competent teammates to protect a ship. Because normally a ship was around 2 kilometers long and 800 meters tall, at least the one in the simulation had this size.
So, he needed good teammates that would split up into different teams to protect the ship without his help while he took the larger share.
However, because he didn’t know anyone in the army of the humans, it was better to start from normal battles and gradually improve his connections creating bonds with the stronger soldiers so that in the future, they would be able to work properly together.
“Well, I guessed you would start with the easier battle first, so I shall send you to the nearest battle station, and the general there will debrief you after you hand over my token.”
Vangar pressed a few buttons on his armor as Felix’s surroundings immediately started to shake, and he felt himself becoming nauseous when he looked around and saw brilliant colors surrounding him.
It was almost as if he was in the center of a rainbow.
The last time when they teleported, Felix didn’t get to open his eyes before they reached their destination, but now he was able to.
However, the fact that he opened his eyes didn’t make him feel better as he could feel that he was on a dangerous ride that flipped his stomach over, which was strange considering the strength of his body in general.
Felix didn’t know anything about teleportation besides the fact that he didn’t like it.
His surroundings turned back to normal as he found himself in an average-sized room with bunked beds put a few meters from each other.
Felix stood there for a few seconds so his dizziness and nausea would leave his body and then took in a big gulp of air to feel better.
The first time the teleportation happened he didn’t have such accentuated symptoms, and even though he felt dizzy before, it wasn’t to this level.
He started to walk towards the metal door of the room. Then suddenly it opened by itself as it went down and into the floor.
Inside came a valiant-looking middle-aged man with a crew cut and a small beard who wore the official armor of the humans with the symbol of general printed on the left side of his chest. He had an X-shaped scar over his chin and another scar going horizontally over the bridge of his nose.
His right eye was also made from metal and had a red blinking light in it.
He looked at Felix with a questioning look, as he never remembered having a cat subordinate before, and he didn’t get any messages from any of his superiors about a recruit coming in.
Felix took out Vangar’s symbol from his special bag and gave it to the man. He immediately realized that Felix was Vangar’s man as he easily recognized the retired general’s symbol.
Vangar had higher seniority in his generation, and he a powerhouse in the military. Even though he had retired, he still had a big saying over the current matters of the military, and he was also training special individuals that caught his eye.
Felix looked rather young in the general’s eyes. So he thought he was a recruit coming from their planet, which was specifically trained by the retired general he always liked to do such surprises.
Sending out geniuses that would help immensely with the ongoing battles.
This was one of his training ways, and it showed results with every important general that rose in the ranks last 10 years.
The cyborg-eye general nodded and looked at Felix’s outfit before saying:
“I think the general might have already sent your equipment down at the hall, so come with me to get yourself equipped.”
Felix followed the man through the corridors of the long and wide corridors of the station as they made their way towards the equipment hall, where Felix found the tailor-made armor for him.
The general got a message from Vangar as well. That told him that he should put Felix in the most dangerous position on the battlefield. So he could stimulate his potential properly.
The message was sent directly- to the general’s armor, so Felix didn’t get to hear it.
Felix donned on the armor on his small body as he felt his special bag getting absorbed by the armor, and an interface from the armor appeared in his face:
[Spatial Storage filled 10%, Rubix cubes are fully charged with energy purified at 100%, armor damage 0%. Ready for battle!]
The armor itself had a helpful AI installed in it. That described everything that Felix needed to know about it.
Felix found the armor to be rather cool as it was both good-looking and had multiple uses besides the spatial storage and Rubix cubes energy gathering and conversion modules.
Compared to the spandex armor that Aaltarox gave him. It was a little bit cooler and had some interesting features.
But he wasn’t sure about its full defensive ability.
As he considered donning the spandex armor under his current metal armor, the metal eyed general came near him and said:
“Since you are done, we can go.”
Felix nodded and followed him back towards the corridors before he was taken outside the station and into the darkness of the interstellar space.
There was anything around them, the only thing in existence being the spatial station behind them.
Felix was expecting a full-on battle raging around, but there was nothing to be seen.
“The battle is a couple of sectors away. This station is deeply hidden in fragments of space so that the enemy can’t find it. It’s our supply and resting heaven.”
“Let’s go. I have returned to the base only because I have felt a teleportation point activating, without any prior messages, the battle is still ongoing, and I’m not sure how our people will do without me in the long term.”
Felix nodded and followed the one-eyed general as they flew in the darkness of space, then their surroundings slowly started to change as they walked different routes according to the special steps of the general.
After twenty minutes of walking into the darkness, they finally reached the location where they broke away from the fragment of space they were in.
After they broke through the fragmented space, they used their armors in full thruster mode to reach the location of the battle.
In front of the duo, a battle of epic proportions was taking place. The enemies were draconic beings who wore armors made from beast hides and infused with blue energy that protected them from the harsh vacuum of space. Their tall humanoid bodies with dragon heads and whiskers were what set them apart from the humans. Also, they had short tails protruding from the back of their beast hide armors.
The fight was a very close one. Even though the difference between the technology of the two parties was immense, the draconic beings had their own mean of increasing their battle power which was no different in power from technology.
It seemed that their civilization took a different approach on how they strengthened themselves compared to the humans.
Their ways looked a little bit more barbaric, but the efficiency was surprisingly high!
The one-eyed general slipped behind his troops as he overlooked everything happening, a clone of his slowly dispersed into dust motes as the higher-up of the enemy army cursed in his mother language, seeing that he was actually fooled.
A message came from the general in Felix’s interface:
[Take the lead and attack the frontlines of the draconic race!]
Felix nodded as he jumped towards the frontlines, where the humans and dragons were clashing with each other at high intensity.
He started to flare his aura as he powered up, the Rubix cubes in his armor slowly roaring to life as purified energy coursed through his body at quick speeds.
This amount of unleashed strength would have created a huge crater if it happened on a planet, but in space, only shockwaves appeared. The shockwaves pushed back both enemies and allies alike.
Felix’s arrival was both high-profile and annoying for the allies as they asked themselves:
“Why did this rookie appear right now?”
“If he wanted to do something good, he should have done an ambush…”
“What will he do now that he has exposed his position so easily? He will be swarmed by the dragons and killed…”
Even the general that stood behind the troops and pressured the enemy’s higher-up in not making a move was skeptical of Felix’s approach. Did Vangar not teach him anything about space battles?
However, the next moment he closed his mouth as his eyes bulged out.
Felix’s silhouette, which was there for everyone to see, suddenly disappeared as if he was never there, confusing both enemies and allies.
Up till now, cats had never fought in space, so no one knew about their affinity for stealth, and the humans on the battlefield weren’t interested in the ‘primitive’ races which lived with them on the same planet.
Felix’s tactics were hard to understand for others, but he knew the best on how to surprise these big snakes.
Doing something dumb first and then attacking from the shadows!
He had intentionally unleashed his aura to reveal his location to the enemies before he disappeared thoroughly, in such a type of battlefield, it was harder to use killing intent detection because of the cumulative killing intent in the surroundings
So now that the enemies were confused and couldn’t find him, he could unleash a massacre like never before!
He wondered how these draconic beings tasted while he licked his lips under the helmet of the armor and then realized, how was he supposed to eat with the helmet on?
