I have Nine Lives - Chapter 150
As Felix pondered this question, the armor had an answer:
[For devouring, put your paw on the corpses, and a small cylinder will absorb the body’s essential energy and transfer it to you.]
Vangar even took into equation Felix’s special ability when he asked for this armor to be made.
Now that his question was answered, there was no reason to dally anymore. He had a job to do, and he wanted to do it right.
The fate of his planet was mostly on his shoulders if what Vangar said was true. So he had to do his best to improve his strength as much as he could.
The Dragonoid’s were keeping their guards up as they started to fly backward. Trying to create space between them and the humans.
They were wary of the human’s reinforcements. The green aura that Felix showed was only at the early level, but the pressure he put on the basic troops was huge. Especially since now, he was invisible, and he could attack from any place. It was really hard to find out where he could be hiding, as all of the space around them was open.
There were no places that they could search to find him, but if they were in a closed space. They would have had a higher chance to catch Felix, even in his stealth. But in space, it was like trying to find a needle in a haystack.
No matter how good the senses of the draconic beings were, they couldn’t find Felix in such an environment, and they knew that fighting with their enemies in this situation was a death sentence.
Who knew when Felix would drop from the shadows and assassinate one of them?
They had their pride, and fighting the humans was also in self-defense in this situation, but they knew that their troops would take major damage if they continued this fight.
The leader of the Dragonoid’s was a short male with pale white scales who wore a more decorated version of the beast hide armor.
He had big bulbous eyes and a short nose, and even though he was still keeping the leash on the metal-eyed general, he now was also scanning around trying to find Felix’s location.
He knew that the cat wasn’t simple and that his troops wouldn’t be able to contain him. Unfortunately, he hadn’t brought the holy child of their tribe with him now. So he could have a fighter that could hold Felix in place.
It would have been a 2v2 fight, but now it was a 2v1 fight with the humans having an advantage in the field of experts.
Felix’s silhouette couldn’t be seen anywhere as he was currently filtering through the potential targets that he could attack. The fight being temporarily paused gave him a good amount of time in which he could choose which flank he could attack so he could do the most damage to the enemy’s formation.
Suddenly his eyes lit up as he found the best location. He slowly made his way, floating through space until he was a few meters away from his target.
The target was oblivious to the fact that his life was going to shortly end a few seconds later.
Suddenly, he felt his oxygen supply being cut off, and he looked warily at his beast hide armor, thinking that the inscriptions on it were malfunctioning, only to realize that his windpipe was leaking blood.
He wanted to scream to the comrade near him, but the man was too focused on keeping his guard up to realize that his compatriot was slowly being dragged into the darkness of space and out of his sight.
The man tried to scream but he couldn’t!
He felt that his leaking windpipe was getting against his ability to speak.
He tried to struggle and seal his wound using the energy from the armor, but he found out that there was a small paw inserted in his chest. He slowly drifted away from his people.
No matter what he did. He couldn’t move he found out that his body was cramping up and that his life force was slowly leaving him.
He knew that there was nothing much he could do anymore, so he closed his eyes. He couldn’t shout for help, nor could he seal his sudden injury.
Suddenly he felt his body being jolted awake as the short general of their tribe appeared near him and pushed the paw out of his chest.
The short mam snorted as his bulbous eyes looked around only to find out that there was no one around, he frowned as he thought that he might have caught Felix, but he realized that there was no chance he would be able to catch this slippery cat.
If he was honest with himself, he wanted to make his troops retreat. These unexpected reinforcements for the humans had sealed the battle between the two civilizations as one person made the whole battle become entirely favored towards the humans.
He wanted to shout for a retreat, but before he could do that, he felt an oppressive power landing on him.
He glared at the metal-eyed general as he ignored the man’s unleashed aura and shouted to all of the troops:
“Retreat, RETREAT!”
Felix frowned as he didn’t get to taste even one of the Dragonoids. Why would they retreat without even trying to fight?
The draconic people started to slowly leave the battlefield as they retreated towards the general location of their base and planet.
The metal-eyed general looked at everything that was happening with a glint in his mechanical eye.
He got an idea as he looked at the retreating dragons. He knew what to do!
He commanded the troops:
“Forward at full strength, ignore everything, and attack them!”
The human soldiers accepted the order without hesitation, as the thrusters from their armor powered up and pushed them quickly in pursuit of the enemies.
Then the metal-eyed general disappeared as well as he powered up his thrusters to the maximum to catch up to the small dragon man.
Felix was also following the army from behind as he was quite angry because he didn’t get to taste even one dragon.
He had started to follow them before the general gave the order, but he knew that the man would most likely emphasize this victory to try and get rid of some of their troops.
Fighting a clean victory like this wasn’t the human’s style as there were no benefits for them!
Felix knew how humans were, so he went ahead in this situation.
He came near the backline of the retreating Dragonoids and dragged one of the more unsuspecting ones back towards him once more, this time, just like the last one, this attracted the attention of the short man who immediately tried to stop Felix once more.
But this time around. He didn’t succeed.
Felix looked at the man as his bulbous eyes almost left their sockets when he saw the metal-eyed general intercepting him before he could even touch Felix. This was the situation he never wanted to see!
He tried to struggle and run away. If he got caught in a battle with the metal-eyed man his troops would be annihilated, and even if he survived. And escaped, he would still be punished by his civilization for losing such an important battle.
He didn’t want either option to happen to him, but he knew that there wasn’t much he could do anymore, so he gritted his teeth and unleashed his power to the maximum!
His purple aura flared to life as he raised a mighty shout to invigorate his troops and give them courage.
However, the metal-eyed general wasn’t impressed by his theatrics as he snorted and unleashed his purple aura as well.
They were pretty evenly matched, as they traded blows, shockwaves traveling through their surroundings as they took the battle above the battlefield, to not interfere with the battle of their subordinates. The short draconic man wanted to intervene, but the metal-eyed general wouldn’t have anything of that.
The fighting between the normal soldiers commenced, and it was very bloody. Felix didn’t even have to do anything as the humans tore through the scattered formation of the dragons. They were all scared, and their guards were up against Felix’s stealth attacks.
They were all scattering and trying to escape as the ones that were too slow died. And their bodies got dragged back by the human soldiers for their scientists to experiment on as finding more of the enemy race’s weaknesses was the main job of the scientists. Along with finding better training techniques and improving on the technology of the human society.
Felix dragged one body of the dragons that he had killed. And put his paw on it as a small opening appeared at the armor section near his paw and started to quickly absorb the nutrients and important things from the body in front of Felix.
Felix found that those fluids extracted from the body were starting to slowly course through his body as he felt reinvigorated, his vitality became more exuberant as his natural ability activated, and his body started to evolve, trying to take the best characteristics, that were most compatible with Felix from the dragons.
Felix felt his stomach lurch as he almost couldn’t control his armor anymore, he wasn’t sure why, but he felt queasy from absorbing the dragon body this way. It was rather strange as he held his stomach, but he didn’t stop absorbing the body until it became a mummy that transformed into ashes after nothing of value remained in it.
He held his head as he felt a headache coming. Maybe that wasn’t the best idea he ever had.
