I have Nine Lives - Chapter 191
Marshallo’s crawling made him look like a hungry zombie that had his legs blasted, still trying to eat the brains of the living beings around him or feast on a nearby corpse, mindlessly crawling forward driven by an instinct for either survival or to sate his hunger of something.
He was still conscious, but at the same time, he wasn’t himself as well, his body had been weakened too much by the consecutive deaths, and his god couldn’t keep reviving him at a normal level of power.
It was to such a level that Felix didn’t know what to say anymore… he was just stunned by his resolve for fighting.
Did he really love fighting that much? Or was there something behind his motives to fight?
Felix sighed as his trembling arms tried to prop him up from the arena floor. However, no matter how much he tried to get up, it was all futile. He was fully out of juice on both bodily-wise and hex energy-wise.
He was a fighting machine, a war god, someone with a higher status than others. But all he enjoyed was fighting.
While he could have lived an easy life on his planet and got whatever he wanted with his current power, he still decided to come and spearhead the invasion, even though he was against the policies of the royals who ordered the invasion in the first place.
Felix didn’t know many things about Marshallo, but he respected him wholeheartedly as an opponent. He was a prideful man with a streak for fighting. But he was also honorable and a great opponent, and even though he did use some ‘underhanded’ methods to make Felix’s full potential explode, Felix didn’t hate him too much.
Every person had his own obsessions, dreams, and hopes, and there was no reason to judge them if you didn’t put yourself in their shoes to see how they would technically live their life to be who they were.
This was empathy. This was what Felix had developed from the moment he gained intelligence up till now.
It was an emotional state that he didn’t grasp until he fully regained his emotions when he played with Jack. He never thought that he could actually get attached to something as his emotions were on a different plane most of the time.
Felix’s emotional levels currently gave him the ability to link with the weakened Marshallo. And grasp what he wanted to do next. As well as sap him of some leftover energy from his body.
This wasn’t any type of technique that was registered in the memories of Vangar nor Willie. This was something that Felix learned by himself just now!
Even though Marshallo was at his weakest right now, he still had some energy left, or else he wouldn’t have been able to crawl towards his former husk and Felix’s location.
But now that Felix was sapping his energy through their emotional connection, he slowly started to stop as his maddened face started to relax. While Felix was sapping his energy, he also sent him positive vibes through the emotional connection he created with him and calmed him down.
Marshallo breathing became normal as his chest rose up and down. He was a few meters away from Felix, but he looked as peaceful as a sleeping baby. However, he wasn’t unconscious.
His eyes were still open as he moved his head towards Felix, who was currently getting up from his downed position. The energy that he gained from Marshallo’s body jumpstarted his healing abilities. Making him recover around 10-20% of his original power.
He tried to get up to see Felix eye to eye, but all he could do was look at Felix from his downed position as he came above him and looked down at him. Marshallo chuckled slowly as he raised a trembling hand over his face and said:
“This ability of yours… why haven’t you used it from the start of the fight? Was this your trump card for this situation?”
Felix shook his head as he crouched near Marshallo and responded:
“No. Actually, I have just learned how to use it right now after seeing your conviction and obsession. It actually made me wonder what happened to make you like this. Both Binela and Marquina don’t seem to have such a high level of obsession like you. Well, they are both obsessed with a certain thing. But not as much as you are with fighting.”
“I see, I see. If we met in other circumstances… I would have loved to have a friend like you, my planet, and my people aren’t like you. And I guess you must be an exception among your people as well.”
Felix put his hand near Marshallo’s face as he was ready to release another beam of energy to wipe him away. After this one, he would have one life left, and he wouldn’t be able to move at all then. Meaning that the next time he died, he would die for good.
Felix looked at Marshallo’s face, which didn’t have any regrets as he closed his eyes and waited for Felix to blast him into oblivion. He was content with the fight he had gotten. And there was nothing he missed back on his planet.
“I had a great run. I have fought to my heart’s content until I have reached an opponent I couldn’t beat. The best way for someone of my race to die. Please honor me with the release of death!”
Felix pulled his hand up as he looked at Marshallo, he didn’t release any more energy while he dropped near him and asked:
“Would you like to live for some more time?”
Marshallo’s eyes widened as his head whipped to the side, where Felix was currently sitting down and resting.
He would lie if he said he wanted to die. Every living being wanted to continue living unless there was nothing to keep them going anymore, and Marshallo wasn’t hopeless, he wanted to continue fighting as well as change his planet’s regime. If he regained his full power, he would be above the current royals, and it wouldn’t matter even if they teamed upon him.
He wanted to move his neck and nod to Felix, but he was too sapped of energy to do that. However, Felix understood from his eye movements alone that he wanted to live more.
Felix smiled as he decided to give him the same option as he did to Marquina and Binela.
“Such an easy thing to do, and I can live and fight more?”
Marshallo didn’t really care if he had to work with Felix or his planet if he got to fight more people and get rid of those snobby nobles on his planet.
He didn’t have beef with anyone. He was just the one executing the orders.
“Well, since it’s this simple. I guess I can just swear upon my ancestors…”
However, before he could start the ritual, a giddy double laugh was heard coming from the nearby space, which Felix and Marshallo identified coming from the twins. It was laughter that got onto one’s nerves the more you heard it, and it was just like nails on a chalkboard.
“Tsk, Tsk. Marshallo, becoming useless to their majesties is one thing, but betraying the empire and joining up with the enemies? This is a new low even for low-born scum like you!”
Marshallo didn’t like when people brought up his social status with such a condescending tone, especially the twins who were formerly his students. They were the people that made him thought that nobles had a shred of good in them until they showed their true intentions.
The twins appeared inside of the arena as they glanced at Felix’s and Marshallo’s downed forms, both of them were exhausted, and they were the perfect prey for the stalking duo.
“Kekek, why don’t you get away from Marshallo outsider? This is the business of our Fulhorn empire. We can forget that you had already bewitched two of our strongest females to your side as long as you let us get rid of Marshallo over there. He is a pain in our royal Majesties’ sides, and it would be a great thing for our whole empire if we got rid of him. I can also promise you that we will never attack you or your planet ever again.”
Felix got up from his position on the floor as he cracked his neck and put his hand over Marshallo’s body, the twin’s eyes narrowed as they thought that Felix wanted to end Marshallo himself, which was also okay with them.
However, gentle yellow energy left Felix’s outstretched arm as it entered Marshallo’s body, rejuvenating him and making him able to get to his feet as he glared at the twins.
“Are you really okay with this? I haven’t said my oath yet. Don’t you think that I will betray you?”
Felix shook his head as he took a glance at Marshallo:
“I didn’t feel that you are that type of person when I sapped your energy just now. Now let’s take care of these two, and after that, you can swear the oath.”
Marshallo laughed roaringly as he rotated his stiff arms to wake them up and then looked into each of the twin’s eyes before saying:
“I taught you everything I knew, and now, it’s time for you to spit everything back out and with the interest rates. I will have to take you two’s lives as well, permanently!”
