I Just Can’t Say Goodbye - Chapter 30:His Name
She was put back to her senses by the sound of an even breathing above her head. Jim, who was supposed to wait while she would take a little nap, was fast asleep. She held her gaze into his face. His skin was soft and pinkish. There was not a single flaw except for the slight growth of new hair strands below his ears. His looks was so gentle. The corners of his mouth had upturned curves that make him look like smiling all the time. His brows was not so thick but his eyes looked tired. The demands of the hospital duties must had pressed him hardly.
When his mother died, a great percentage of their businesses and properties were divided among him and her sister who was a businesswoman herself. His father took over his part, as he had rather chosen to be a physician. However, the family’s share in the hospital business was turned over to him under the management also of his dad.
She suddenly felt worthless. This man had a very high status, and yet, she was just a servant whom he had accomodated. She still could not believe how someone like him would want to marry her.
The moment Jian was born, he immediately provided him with all of those insurance plans he could give to a child. But one of the best and most important thing he had given him, was his name. He named him Jian Wayne, though his first name would bear forever the memory of the child’s biological father.
One time, he recalled him asking, “What would be the kind of business you would want to invest in the future? ”
He stared at him, wondering why would he ask such an irrelevant question. She had no inclination in business, not to mention her financial incapacities. Nevertheless, she had a silent dream that if opportunities strike, she would avail franchising programs of one of the famous coffee shops in the Philippines.
“I want to own a branch of Gee’s Cafe.” She finally replied laughing, amused of her own answer. It was such a joke!
One morning, few weeks after that, she woke up with a bouquet of red roses at her bedside table. Under the bouquet was a red envelope with her name written in an upper left corner. She hurriedly pulled out a piece of paper inside. What she instantly saw, made her quiver from her knees down to her toes!
“This business permit is issued to Jia Regala as the franchise owner of Gee’s Cafe branch located in… ”
She stood there trembling for who knew how long, until Jim came in and hugged her.
“What I have right now are businesses owned by my family. Whatever something unlikely may happen in the future, no one can tell. I don’t want you to go into trouble. This is for you and our son.”
“I am also working on the licenses of a real estate business, it is also under your name.. You don’t have to worry about this for now. I have hired personnel to manage all those. All I want is both of you to be around…”
