I Kill Monsters For A Living - Chapter 1 The Beginning
Before any of this, I saw myself as a worthless child who had no meaning in this world, a person who couldn’t contribute anything to society. Somehow over these months, I’ve begun to think that I’m not so worthless after all. I want to tell you my story, and the story of the people that made my life more interesting, and how I eventually found meaning in life.
-Just a few minutes ago-
“STOP THAT FAT GUY!” I yelled while chasing some thief. He had just stolen my camera away from me while I was talking to an old man.
My name is David Tan, I’m a 17-year-old homeless kid who specializes in photography.

I live in the futuristic city of Alinam, the golden trashcan. They call it that because the city is highly advance and beautiful to look at but at the end of the day there are no laws. The whole no law thing attracts a lot of shitty personalities like murderers, psychopaths, and overall just shady people. But it’s not all bad, we keep out the evilest types of people of all time… Lawyers.
“Got it!” I yell as I grab my camera from the man’s hands. The man then fell to the ground and began to hold his left hand in pain.
“Oh crap, did I accidentally touch your left hand?” I then squatted down to take a closer look at the man.
As I got a closer look I saw that his hand was fully twisted and flopping around. “Jesus that looks like it hurts…”
“Hey, you, the kid with the camera! Can I talk to you for a second?” Ada then grabbed me by the hand and dragged me into an alleyway. She was wearing the exact goddamn winter jacket she wears all the time. “Show me your right hand, now.”
“Aha, what?” _
I feel like I’m going a bit to fast, maybe I should start it out from the beginning.
“Hey David, here for the food? I got a bunch of canned drinks and cooked patties we were going to throw out in the storage room, help yourself to them.” I hear from Caesar as I enter through the door.
Every Tuesday I like to visit this burger place. Since they always offer me free food such as burgers, chips, and drinks before they have to throw them out. The owner of the store is this guy called Caesar, he’s always slouched and probably has some back problems. Caesar is a nice guy, he doesn’t treat me any different even though I’m homeless.
He has some cute daughter named Ada, she’s around my age. She likes to help out her dad at the restaurant so I see her often. I don’t really talk to her though, I’m guessing she’s a psycho. She has short blue hair and always wears a winter coat every time I see her even during summer.

“Thanks, Caesar, I’ll take what I need,” I say as I begin to walk to the storage.
The restaurant has an old 80s cafe look to it and looked fairly clean with a floor with a checkerboard pattern. There were around 9 people in the restaurant, 5 people sitting down by themselves and 4 people in a booth together. For some reason they didn’t have glass windows, they just had iron bars instead, I don’t know why but for some unknown reason it still bothers me…
“Hey, what are you looking at!?” The man then pulled out a handgun and shot the person sitting to the left of him in the head. No one turned around and looked at the dead body on the floor as if it was a normal everyday thing. The man was fairly large and wore a singlet, basketball shorts, and a cap backward with shades. He looked like a total jerk…
“Clean it up, you’re banned from my restaurant, I’ll give you 5 minutes!” Caesar yelled at the man furiously. He then pulled a kitchen knife from under the counter and pointed it towards the man.
“Jeez, no need to yell at me, I just killed a guy that’s all, I’ll clean it up, don’t worry about it.” He said as he put his hands up.
“Be quick…” Caesar then placed the knife back in its place and walked off into the kitchen.
I bet this would make an awesome picture. I then took out my camera and took a picture of the man picking up the dead body off the floor. As the picture finished printing I handed it towards the man.
“That will be $5 please.”
“Go away kid, I’m not paying for something I didn’t ask for.” He then dragged the dead body outside and sat back down at the counter.
“CAESAR THIS GUY JUST STOLE FROM ME!” I yelled at the top of my lungs.
“WHAT DID HE DO?” Caesar then began to storm out of the storage room holding a kitchen knife.
“Fine, just take the money just don’t stab me please!” He then handed me $5 and ran off.
“Stealing from a homeless child, does that man have no shame.”
“I don’t know Caesar, some people nowadays just have no shame,” I say as I begin to shrug.
“So, how are you going to get a new camera?”
“What do you mean a new camera?” I think Caesar’s head is aging a bit…
“The guy… he just ran off with your camera…”
“HE WHAT?” I yell as I begin to run out the door.
“Take a left and you should be able to catch up to him!”
“STOP THAT FAT GUY!” I yelled while chasing some thief. He had just stolen my camera away from me while I was talking to an old man.
And that’s how it all started…
